What needs to be considered when making choices?
• What am I good at vs what I enjoy
• Work load – particularly when considering multiple practical subjects
• Find out about the subjects I want to study – will they interest me during Yrs 10 & 11?
• Balance is the key!
Potential pitfalls
X Choose a subject based on the teacher they have now
X Choose subjects that their friends are doing
X Choose a new subject because it sounds good
X Can’t think of anything else to do
X Don’t give much thought to reserve choices
X Don’t listen to advice given
Who can help?
• Tutor• Subject teachers• Pastoral leaders•Older pupils • You!
