 JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Receptionis t (part time) Reporting to: Administration Manager Responsible for: Reception Volunteers Location: Mahdlo (Oldham Youth Zone), Egerton Street, Oldham Salary: £7.00/hr Holidays: 12.07% of hours worked Job Purpose: To be the welcoming face of Mahdlo with responsibility for the day-to-day running of the reception / main entrance desk and supporting with administration tasks. Context of the post: An iconic state-of  art Youth Zone, is under construction in Oldham and due to open in March 2012. Attracting young peo ple from across the borough with its fantastic facilities, the Youth Zone will provide positive activities and practical support, especially for those who are disadvantaged. The aim is to enable them to make constructive use of their leisure time and to raise their aspiration s. The centre will be open seven nights a week, at weekends and during school holidays. The Youth Zone w ill also develop and deliver other projects to improve the lives of disadvantaged and vulnerable young people in the area. £5 million capital funding is secured and building work is well under way on the three-storey building which will have a dedicated sports hall, a climbing wall, gym, boxing ring, dance and performing arts and music spaces. Also included are a cafe, games and social areas and an outdoor all-weather pitch. Duties and Responsibilities: To be the first point of contact to general public Greet visitors and directing them to the right person Answer queries from the general public, visitors or young people Answering calls, dealing with telephone queries, screening calls, taking messages and ensuring they reach the appropriate person Book members in to the club, book them on to the membership database and collect entrance fees. (Training will be given for the membership database although a knowledge and familiarity of basic computer skills and software will be required). Take full responsibility for the reception area keepin g it tidy and welcoming at all times

  Signing in and out visitors, ensuring they have the appropriate security passes and are guided

to the right meeting place or officer

Taking receipt of hand delivered mail, and dealing with deliveries

Cashing up at the end of a session

Ensure any supporting admin and paper work is up to date and completed by end of the

session.

Adhere Mahdlo policies at all times with particular reference to H&S, Child Protection and Equal

Opportunities.

Reporting comments, behavior or incidents which are inappropriate in a setting with children

and young people and understand the process for doing so.

Welcoming volunteers and trainee staff to ensure they feel an integral and valued part of the

Mahdlo team.

Supporting new members to complete the paper or online forms and become registered as

members issuing any membership cards as appropriate

Book rooms and keep records up to date concerning attendance, trips and events

Making announcements as required by the lead worker

Undertake administration tasks as required by your supervisor and support the lead worker as

required

Support any other duties required of you as may reasonably be determined by your supervisor.

General hours of work:

We are looking for Receptionists to cover the following sessions

Mon: 3.15-6.15pm (3hrs) and 6.15-10.15pm (4hrs)

Tues: 3.15-6.15pm (3hrs)

Wed: 3.15-6.15pm (3hrs) and 6.15-10.15pm (4hrs)

Thurs: 3.15-6.15pm (3hrs)

Fri: 3.15-6.15pm (3hrs) and 6.15-10.15pm (4hrs)

Sat: 9.45am-13.15pm (3.5hrs), 1.15-4.45pm (3.5hrs) and 6.15-10.15 (4hrs)

Sun: 9.45am-13.15pm (3.5hrs), 1.15-4.45pm (3.5hrs) and 6.15-10.15 (4hrs)

There will be opportunity for additional work in the school holidays if desired.
