Magazine cover 2 production process.Ben Whitehurst

I decided tor use this image of a player who plays for my rugby team for the front cover of my sports magazine as I felt that it captured the strength and agility of the player, these concepts are concepts for rugby players. I decided not to alter any of the lighting effects within the photo as I felt the natural lighting looked good on its own.

I decided to use the colour blue as predominant feature within both of the sports magazines that I have created as I felt that it will appeal to sports people the most. I created this back ground on two separate layers on Photoshop so I could have a darker border. Once I had created the layer I used the shape tool to fit alongside the image I had taken.

Next, I put my main cover line onto the magazine to act as a hook to lure the audience to buy the magazine I have created. This can be seen through the colours yellow and black as the stand out on the magazine. I used the shape and text tool to create these.

I decided to put the barcode and issue date onto the magazine cover next as they are crucial aspects to ensure people know how much the magazine is going to cost them. I used a barcode of the internet and created the issue date using the text tool.

Next I put my cover lines onto the magazine I again used the colour blue within these. The font I used in these cover lines was Niagara engraved. I used the text tool to create this feature.

Finally I put the masthead on to the magazine cover. The masthead on the prime magazines is recognisable throughout all of my magazines as I have used the same one on all of them. I used the text tool to create this feature.
