About the pilot
• Agreement between Indiana University and lynda.com
• Available for free to IU students, faculty, and staff in fall 2009
• Must login via ittraining.iu.edu/lynda
• More than 650 topics
• Will evaluate it for renewal
Usage to date:
• 3442 unique users logged in at least once
• 1013 of those logged in more than once
• 6642 total logins
Hardware & software requirements• Minimum screen resolution of 1024 X 768
• Internet Explorer 6.0 , Firefox 2.0 , Safari 2.0 . (Users of 64-bit Internet Explorer 7, try a different browser)
• JavaScript and Cookies must be enabled.
• Apple QuickTime 7.5 or above. (Mac Safari users please download QuickTime 7.5.5 or newer to avoid problems with captioning)
• Microsoft Windows XP SP2, Microsoft Windows Vista, Macintosh OS X or Linux.
• Internet connection with sufficient bandwidth (see system requirements section; tester available)

How courses are structured

• Closed captioning is available on newer lynda.com courses; therefore, it is available on some, but not all courses.
• You can search the closed captioning text• Look for Essential Training
Info for faculty• During the lynda.com pilot, instructors at
IU can assign or recommend lynda.com tutorials to students
• Links may be created in Oncourse
• Faculty may schedule 1:1 session at Teaching Centers
