"When I offer Mass, I am at the foot of the cross, asking Jesus’ help to

do the Father’s will in my life, and standing there I can unite my pains and sufferings to those of Jesus for the salvation of all. There is no greater benefit than to be united mind, body, spirit and will with Our Lord.” — Msgr. William O’Connell, in the December 2014

West River Catholic, buried in St Martin's Monastery cemetery September 3rd, 2015.

Pope Francis invites us to the richness of God's mercy, with the special time, beginning Dec 8: "I have asked the Church in this Jubilee Year to rediscover the richness encompassed by the spiritual and corporal works of mercy. The experience of mercy, indeed, becomes visible in the witness of concrete signs as Jesus himself taught us. Each time that one of the faithful personally performs one or more of these actions, he or she shall surely obtain the Jubilee Indulgence. Hence the commit-ment to live by mercy so as to obtain the grace of complete and exhaustive forgiveness by the power of the love of the Father who excludes no one. The Jubilee Indulgence is thus full, the fruit of the very event which is to be celebrated and experienced with faith, hope and charity.

Please pray with your families this month for Pope Francis and WMF gathering in Philadelphia.

Gov. Daugaard draws our care to those in recovery this month.

Here is a great prayer by R.Neibuhr:

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference. Living one day at a time; enjoying one moment at a time; accepting hardships as the pathway to peace; taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it; trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His Will; that I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with Him forever in the next. Amen.

Corporal Works of Mercy

To feed the hungry To give drink to the thirsty To clothe the naked To shelter the homeless To visit the sick To bury the dead To visit the imprisoned

Spiritual Works of Mercy

To admonish the sinners To instruct the ignorant To counsel the doubtful To comfort the sorrowful To bear wrongs patiently To forgive all injuries To pray for the living and the

dead

A graceful way to honor deceased Msgr. Bill O’Connell:
