Verb Agreement

•Verbs must agree with their subject so you don’t say things like “I are your friend.”

•Thus, you must learn how to correctly “conjugate” your verbs.

Page 9: Los sujetos y los verbos

What is conjugation?

•It’s changing your verb forms to correctly match your subject.

•You must add an “s” to the verb “to walk” to correctly match it to the subject “he.”

•He walks in the park.

Page 10: Los sujetos y los verbos

infinitives

•Every verb has an infinitive form.

•This is when it is not conjugated or when it doesn’t have a subject before it.

Page 11: Los sujetos y los verbos

infinitives•In English, infinitives have “to” in

front of them.

•Ejemplo: to walk, to run, to talk, to sleep....

•In Spanish, infinitives end in AR, ER, or IR.

•Ejemplos: hablar (to talk), comer (to eat), escribir (to write)
