Says Golfers Should ProtectSelves Against Theft, Liability

Writing in the Long Island Press, JohnM. Brennan, the paper's golf writer, saidthat he had recently queried Timothy W.Foley, a golf insurance specialist, as toliability in the case of thefts of equip-ments and golf course accidents. It isFoley's opinion that neither the club northe pro can be held responsible whenclubs, bags, apparel, etc. are stolen froma club storage area. It is the responsibilityof the golfer to protect himself againstpilferage of this kind. Coverage of thistype often can be obtained through arider to a comprehensive dwelling policy.

Foley, Brennan says, feels that no play-er, whether on a public or private course, should venture to hit a golf ball withoutbeing covered by liability insurance. Pro-tection of this kind can be obtained for anominal premium through an insuranceagent or broker.
