Do you want to be a leader in the field of health care today? TheBouvé College of Health Sciences LLC unites students frommanymajors, including Physical Therapy, Nursing, Health Sciences andPharmacy, for an interdisciplinary learning experience. In the modernfield of health care, practitioners work very closely in a team settingacross multiple disciplines. This LLC allows students to gain anintimate understanding of this complex but exciting environment.Students spend time with faculty members during a dinner series,gain academic support for their challenging course loads, and more.

Students who aspire to allopathic (MD), osteopathic, dental,optometry, podiatric, or veterinary medical careers—this is thecommunity for you! This LLC focuses on educating students aboutthe diverse career options in medicine, showcasing the broad arrayof professional paths. While students are living in an academicallysupportive environment, they will receive guidance in preparing forgraduate school fostered by a direct connection with the PreMHealthprogram.

The CCIS LLC is focused on creating a community built outside of harddrives, programming, and C++ scripts. Combining computer sciencewith real world applications, students in this LLC will explore thehistory and modern advances in computer technology. If you areinterested in exploring how these innovations have changed theworld, this may be the LLC for you! Students in this community willengage with faculty who are on the cutting edge of their fields, learnabout innovative careers in the computer science industry, and live ina socially supportive environment.

Want to learn more about careers in Criminal Justice while connecting with professionals who share yoursame interests? Whether a budding police officer, FBI agent, criminologist, social worker, or looking toinvestigate what path best peeks their interests, students will love this community. Perhaps they’ll uncovera clue during a Murder Mystery night, figure out “Are there really people like Dexter out there?” or watch amock hearing at the Office of Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution. All of these experiences will helpstudents shape their career path, connect them to faculty members, and make their time at Northeasternmore memorable.

connectionsGet Connected! FirstMyear female students who are interested in Engineering and/or Computer Science willfind a supportive and academically challenging home in this community. Students develop academic andsocial support networks as well as mentorships in their field. In heavily maleMdominated fields, thesewomen leaders will begin to build support networks for their time at Northeastern and beyond!

political science & urban policyWith the 2012 election just around the corner, this LLC will be immersed in dialogue and debate! Studentswill get to know their local and national community, while discussing politics as it affects our world today.They will be challenged to explore the problems faced by underrepresented groups in urban areas,contemplate reform options, and explore how they can make a difference. Students will also look at invisibledivisions that plague our great American cities and discuss possible solutions to build a more cohesivecommunity. As part of this exploration, students will be encouraged to participate in student governmentand/or community activist groups.

undeclaredCollege is a time of exploration! If you are still undecided about your major, consider the LLC for theProgram for Undeclared Students your new home. This LLC assists students in identifying their strengths,interests, and possible career paths—all steps towards settling into a major that’s right for them. Residentsin the LLC will be supported by and work directly with the Program for Undeclared Students, Advisors,Peer Mentors, and Residential Life Staff to discover what academic road they will follow. From “What’s in aMajor Wednesday” to visits from Career Services and coMop panels—this LLC assists students in makingone of the biggest decisions of their lives! They will spend the year doing personality assessments, figuringout who they are as individuals and who they want to be as professionals—and before they know it they’vefound their paths.

The Engineering LLC offers students the opportunity to apply knowledge of math, science, and engineeringto real world problems and put their ideas into action. In this community students will apply the skillsthey’ve learned in the classroom to real life, hands on experience, whether it’s through an engineering tourof Boston or through building competitions. Students will also enjoy events customized to engineeringspecialties, including civil, electrical, mechanical, chemical and industrial engineering. Regular contact withfaculty helps to ensure students are building a strong academic foundation. In addition, weekly tutoringsessions are also available to assist with challenging academic course work.

At Northeastern we are proud to call ourselves a global university, full of diversecultures, religions, and ideologies. By joining this LLC, students will gain a deeperunderstanding of both your own culture and that of the students around you. Thisenriching experience will make students more comfortable traveling the world,for a study abroad, Dialogue of Civilizations, or international coMop. We believethat being globally minded makes students better citizens at Northeastern and athome in their communities. Past programming has included international popmusic night, ethnic cooking demonstrations, cultural excursions around Bostonand beyond, and even a trip to the United Nations!

Interested in learning a new language? Join our Global Frontiers LanguageInterest Floors, where special programming around learning languages will occur.On these floors, we will bring in student organizations like NU Calls and facultymembers to assist students in their language skills development. Bienvenue!

green livingIs living a sustainable lifestyle important to you? Doyou want to inspire others to do the same? Go greenwith the Green Living LLC, home to students whobelieve that living a lowMimpact life is an importantthing to do. Residents in this community will explorethe many facets of sustainability as they seek toempower themselves and others to live a greener life.Students will meet with faculty and Northeastern staffto learn about a variety of cutting edge topicsincluding energy consumption, composting, recycling,and food justice. Students will also be encouraged tomake connections with student groups and BostonMarea organizations to help put their passion intoaction.

Give back! Make a difference! Students in the Community Service LLC willdevelop plans to improve their residential and local community througha collaborative effort with the Center of Community Service. Studentswill be encouraged to design, create, and implement their own serviceprojects or take part in established programs. Join us as we strengthenthe neighborhoods and communities around Northeastern. Each year, wepartner with more than 200 local organizations dedicated to a variety ofcauses including public health, education, environmental justice, andyouth recreation! We want students to help lend a hand!

In the Fusion LLC students will learn from one another’s experiences, as well as from adynamic crossMsection of interdisciplinary faculty members at Northeastern. Students in this LLC willdiscuss their experiences as firstMyear students as reflective, holistic understandings of their collegiateexperiences.

Focusing on architecture, engineering,environmental science, and urban studies, students in this LLC will spend the year problemMsolving andbrainstorming sustainable solutions for our modern world.

from novel to big screenInterested in how a classic novel is turned into a box office hit? The Novel to Big Screen LLC looks to unitestudents who share interests in reading, writing, media, and production to create an allMencompassingenvironment for learning about what happens behind the scenes before you buy your ticket. Programmingwill include film screening, discussions with faculty members, and analysis. Students will gain a deeperappreciation for media arts through living in this community, and will have opportunities to recognizecareer paths in cinema arts.

globalization & the 2012 freshmanAs the world has become increasingly connected and interdependent, a host of new challenges haveemerged. This LLC will explore the vast social, cultural and economic changes that await NU students asthey go out into the world after graduation. Students will utilize a variety of perspectives to exploreglobalization, including sociology, economics, political science and international affairs. Students will alsodiscuss ways in which they can thrive in a globalized world.

inNUvateExplore. Discover. Revolutionize. In the InNUvate LLC students will be challenged to expand their academichorizons. Students will not only experience, but also become a part of the cutting edge world of the sciences.In this community, students will be encouraged to explore their passions, whether it is through the world ofbiology, chemistry, physics, psychology, or other science disciplines. Academic support, interactions withfaculty, attending coMop and research panels, or even applying knowledge in an inspired way is all a part ofthe InNUvate experience. Residing in an interdisciplinary floor, students will be afforded the uniqueopportunity to learn from their peers in other fields of study and become more informed members of thescientific community. The Interactive Media LLCcombines art, media, and technologyinto a multiMfacetted community.Focusing on technology as a tool forartistic innovation, this LLC allowsstudents to experiment with differentforms of media for their own personaland professional growth. CBA Corporate Explorers: If you knowbusiness is in your future, but areunsure of your exact path, corporateexplorers might be the LLC for you.Students will gain the opportunity tolearn about career options in the field ofbusiness prior to committing to theirconcentration. Programming in thiscommunity focuses on selfM discovery,coMop and concentration panels, facultydinner series, and events withUniversity Career Services. JoinCorporate Explorers and find your nichein the business world!

CBA Leaders in Society: Before you enterthe boardroom, be sure you spend a yearin the Leaders in Society LLC! This LLCbrings together budding CEOs andprovides students with an opportunity togrow their leadership potential, all whileusing business as the reference point.Programs for this LLC will include facultydinners, resume workshops, and businessmodel creation competitions. Whetherworking on Wall Street or igniting a startMup company, students will gain thenecessary skills to maximize theirbusiness leadership potential.

International Business: To be a leaderin the international business field , oneneeds business savvy and culturalcompetency—the two focuses of thiscommunity. Students will learn aboutinternational business trends, the effectof global markets, and the etiquetteneeded to conduct business abroad.Students will work closely with facultyin CBA, and will have a close connectionwith the International Student andScholar Institute (ISSI). This dynamicprogram will strengthen students’academic experience and develop theirglobal citizenship.

Trailblazers isa community of openMminded, progressive students who are interested in exploring who they are,learning from each other, and celebrating diverse perspectives. Trailblazers take their passions and turnthem into action! As a part of the Trailblazers community you will have the option to live in one of threedynamic tracks:

Kaleidoscope (LGBTQ+Ally)Students who identify with, or who are allies of, the Lesbian, Gay, BiMSexual, Transgender, Queer & Questioning (LGBTQ) community willhave a safe environment where they can thrive, educate, and celebratethe many diverse perspectives of the LGBTQ population. Students in theLGBTQ+ALLY community will explore their personal identity, educatethe Northeastern community about LGBTQ issues, promote being anALLY, and enjoy the diversity of the Northeastern community.

UNITE (Unifying Northeastern Identities Through Education)Students of this LCC will unite to discover, inform, and applaud theracial/cultural differences and similarities of our LLC in order to create amore inclusive residential, campus, and global community. This LLC willallow students to explore their own heritage while engaging with othersfrom diverse backgrounds to foster a greater cultural awareness and toenhance the diversity of the Northeastern community and beyond.Students will be challenged to see the world through the eyes of others,to break down barriers, and to make sincere attempts to change socialinjustices with their everyday actions.

NU ActionWhat makes you take action? Do you care about education reform?Urban poverty? Food politics? Violence? HIV/AIDS? World hunger?Students in this community will be challenged to not only understandthe injustices locally and globally, but to also take responsibility toutilize their influence in impacting change. Students will identify theirpassions. We will help students take their passion and turn it into actionby linking them with likeMminded people. Students in this LLC will beencouraged to take part in serviceMlearning, community service, orcommunity activism. It’s not too late to change the world!

All students in theTrailblazers LLC will berequired to complete SafeZone training and will beasked to enroll inIntergroup Dialoguetraining. Students will alsobe encouraged to attendprograms at the SocialJustice Resource Centerthroughout the year toenhance their experience.

EMBRACE (Educating Members for Better Racial Awareness &Cultural Enrichment)Within EMBRACE students will gain an inMdepth knowledge of the globalexperiences of the people of African descent in Asia, Europe, Oceania, theCaribbean and the Americas. Students will explore the AfricanDiaspora’s influence on society, culture, politics art, music and the worldat large. Students will be encouraged to take a leadership role by sharingyour experience with the broader Northeastern community throughcampus wide cultural activities. This LLC works in partnership with theJohn D. O’Bryant African American Institute and the African AmericanStudies Department

Sports LeadershipDo you find yourself stepping out onto the field and taking the reins?Do your teammates look up to you for advice and words of wisdom? Orare you just plain passionate about sports? Learn invaluableleadership skills in the field of athletics in conjunction withNortheastern’s premier program, Sport and Society. Students willlearn tips for group motivation from our NCAA Division One coachingstaff, goal setting from our Athletic Director, and sports ethics fromour faculty.

Outdoor LeadershipSummit your leadership potential! Learn valuable outdoor andleadership skills through guided trips and expedition experiences. Anoutdoor leader is confident, can handle lifeMthreatening crises, and canplan a mindMblowing outdoor adventure. If you are into hiking,climbing, or paddling and want to learn how to develop leadershipskills while exploring the great outdoors, this is the place for you!

Women LeadersStrong women. Strong leaders. This LLC will give our female residentsthe opportunity to hone their leadership skills. Empowering women toexcel in their respective communities, this LLC will provide residentswith a strong foundation for building your leadership potential.

Leaders of the PackBe the leader you always wanted to be! This LLC will help studentsenhance their leadership skills, while getting to know leaders both oncampus and in the community. Students will make connections withfaculty members and upperMclass students in leadership positions tobegin to develop their leadership career at Northeastern. The skillslearned in this LLC will coincide with students’ academic lives to helpthem succeed at Northeastern and beyond!
