Literature Revision: Character Analysis

I can comment on the characteristics of a character.

• Which role do they play? Mother, father, friend, counsellor, confidant…• How important is their role? Does it

have an impact on the plot? Or even on the other characters?

I can explain what the character represents in the novel.

• Do they represent anything in society? • Do they represent a moral? • Do they represent the

thoughts/actions of a similar type of person in society?

I can explain how the author shapes our view of the characters

• Does the author make us feel a certain way about a character? How?

• Does the author allow us to change our opinion?

• Are we allowed to make our own judgements about the character?
