PAYMENT OF FEES AND MONEY

Full payment is due by April 30th. For late registrations, all fees must be paid prior to admittance. We do accept VISA and MasterCard payments, or checks drawn on an American bank or wire transfers. You can log into your online profile to pay or please contact our office administrator. Store accounts need $75 for each session. Each camper will need to purchase a camp t-shirt and camp reversible/pinnie (total $25 taken from store account money) that they must wear for camp events! There will also be a small fee for snacks called "campteen" from the Store if camper elects to buy them. The remainder of the money can be used at the camper’s discretion, but no purchases will be able to exceed the amount in the account without parental permission. Campers should not have any cash in their possession while they are at camp so please remind family members or friends not to send money directly to your child. Tipping: The Susquehannock Camps are a proud member of the American Camping Association and the ACA requires that monetary or expensive gifts to camp personnel be prohibited.

COMMUNICATIONS

Telephone calls are not permitted to or from campers, with the exception of a birthday or an emergency. Please contact the Directors if there is a problem. The Directors are happy to speak to you by phone if you are “child sick!” Mail: It is important that you write to your child frequently, even if it is only a postcard. News from home should be positive and while it is fine to let him/her know that you miss them, do not dwell on it! Do not panic if you receive an unhappy letter from your child. Most children will experience some form of homesickness early in their stay at camp. Usually by the time you receive that letter, and call us, we have been working on the situation and your child has changed their feelings! If the unhappy letters continue, do let us know and we will stay in touch with you as needed. All campers must write a letter home on Sundays. You can send pre-addressed, stamped envelopes to make the process easier! E-mails: Please see the enclosed information about sending your child one-way emails through the email service “Bunk 1”. The e-mails will be printed out and put in your child’s camp mailbox. Packages that are sent to campers may not contain food, candy or any perishables. If something like this is sent, the Package Counselor will close the food in a plastic container to be stored in the Office until closing day.

WHILE AT CAMP

Personal Health and Welfare: At Susquehannock we strive to maintain a safe and healthy camp environment and ensure the personal health and welfare of each camper. In order to do this we must have several completed documents from you. First is a completed Health Form (5 pages), including any and all allergies or medical conditions. Also use this form to provide any information that is important to the welfare of your child (bedwetting, sleep walking, etc.) It is crucial you sign the Parent’s Authorization section of the Health Form (end of page 1) so, in an emergency, the hospitals and physicians will be able to provide care to your child. In addition, we need your insurance carrier’s medical and accidental policy information. In order to maintain a healthy camp environment, on day one we screen everyone for any potentially contagious conditions such as fevers and head lice. If a camper arrives with lice or any other contagious

3

condition, the camper must return home until the condition is treated. This Pennsylvania state regulation is in place to keep camp as healthy and productive for everyone possible. We appreciate your understanding with regards to this. Also, on day one, all medications brought to camp, including anything “over the counter” such as vitamins or acetaminophen, will be collected by our medical staff to be stored and dispensed under their supervision. All medications must be in their original containers with the specific medication information and dosage instructions on it. It is the policy of Camp Susquehannock to notify parents in the event of serious illness that results in admission to the infirmary for an overnight stay. If your camper is injured and transported to the hospital for treatment, you will be notified, once an evaluation has been made, regarding your campers condition. Use and possession of alcohol, tobacco or any drugs is prohibited and no aerosol containers or fireworks are allowed at camp.

Camp Library: We have a great tradition that a camper may bring and donate a reading book, to honor their birthday. Campers should put their name, date and year on the front page of the book for other readers to enjoy in the Camp’s Lending Library. We ask that all books (paperback or hardcover, new or “gently-used”) be age appropriate. Visiting does not occur on a specific day. Since learning to get along away from home is a big part of the camp experience, we do not encourage visits. If you feel that you must visit your child, we request that you not to do so until two weeks have passed and that you call and notify the Office. You may take your child out of camp if it does not disturb their participation in scheduled activities. No other camper may go out of camp with you, unless the camp has written permission from that camper’s parent. Religious Services: On Sunday mornings, we do have a non-denominational service. These services are organized by staff and/or campers on a variety of themes. We do also provide transportation for campers to attend local Catholic mass.

Clothing, Equipment and Valuables should all be clearly marked with the camper’s name!!! We ask that you not allow your child to bring anything that is of excessive value to camp because we cannot be responsible for their safety and/or loss. In regard to electronics: it has become increasingly difficult for our campers to participate fully in activities or be "in the present" with their teammates and cabin mates if they turn themselves off with headphones , electronic games or movies. It is also very difficult for the staff to prohibit inappropriate lyrics and downloaded movies or to block Internet connections. Our experience is that these devices interfere with relationship building and are not needed at camp. Many of our campers agree. We want to be “in a world apart” and so we ask you to insist that your child not bring internet-capable iPods( or equivalent devices), TV’s, DVD Players, computers, stereos, cell phones, expensive cameras or watches. If any of these devices do find their way to camp, we will store them in the camp safe until the session is over. Simple radios or MP3 players used to listen to music as a group, at rest hours will be permitted.

PACKING LIST The following is a suggested list and will help organize your camper. Nametags or a permanent black marker should be used to label every article of clothing and all other belongings for each camper. Laundry detergent (Required) – campers must bring a small container of clothes washing detergent for laundry (Not International Campers). Camper’s store account will be charged if they do not bring detergent. A list of your camper’s belongings should be taped to the lid of their trunk and we recommend that you AND your camper pack together so your child really knows what they have with them!
