In (insert month) this year, the students of (insert grade and school’s name) hosted an AFL You Can Kick Goals – Grand Final Day classroom festival that involved parents and teachers. This festival day was implemented as a culmination to the innovative AFL You Can Kick Goals classroom curriculum – a program that focuses on students building an awareness and understanding of values such as leadership, respect, teamwork, fair play and harmony. Each unit of work is uniquely designed to give students the opportunity to celebrate these values in their school community.

This was a day where students and families came together to participate in a variety of activities designed to highlight these values, socialise with other parents and teachers, and have some fun through footy! This was the aspect of the day that impressed our principal (insert name) most. (insert quote from principal)

In an amazing transformation, Grade (insert class name) turned its classroom into the MCG on AFL Grand Final Day, with students, teachers and parents coming together to celebrate harmony messages in the form of live role-play presentations and pre-recorded film and audio shows. (Insert quote from a student talking about how the class had to work together to transform their classroom.)

Our guest speaker on the day (insert name) had parents, students and teachers enthralled by his/her reflections on their football (or other) career and advice about the importance of building and maintaining community relationships. (Insert quote from guest speaker.)

To get into the spirit of the occasion we asked that all parents, students and teachers wear AFL or other Australian Football gear – jumpers, shorts and socks – on the day. There were some funny-looking footballers. (insert quote from parent)

All in all, it was a great day. The teachers of (insert school name) would like to thank all the parents and students involved in organising the festival day. Their efforts have modelled all of the values of this program and they are deeply appreciated.
