Goals

• The problem: Current On-the-Job-Training (OJT) methods result in

loss of productive time due to travel to the training facility and

variability in method and means of training by individual instructors

• The project goals are to improve the current approach to OJT for the

craft, the approaches used for retaining critical corporate memory, and

the current training for new craft managers.

5

Having tailored craft videos available on the shop floor and deck plate in real time will allow for consistent OJT

in place with the added benefit of expedient on-call

refresher training

The use of mobile technology and requirements for OJT can be adapted to capture

critical elements of institutional knowledge for

future contracts and improve the proficiency of program-

based lessons learned during phases of construction on

each specific ship

The team will determine the desirable knowledge, skills

and abilities of craft managers, then measure current knowledge and

develop areas of improvement for next

generation craft management successors

Corporate Knowledge Retention System

• Ingalls has reviewed our baseline for corporate knowledge retention

• Effort is on track to fulfill Phase I tasking

– Pilot and associated evaluation are part of Phase II

10

SEE TITLE SLIDE FOR DISTRIBUTION RESTRICTIONS

Craft Videos

• Ingalls is developing training videos for common processes in multiple

craft disciplines

– Some of these videos are being used as content for the OJT Delivery System pilot

• Many of the videos will be broadly applicable to the U.S. shipbuilding

industry

• A set of 25 training videos will be released for use by other U.S.

shipyards at the end of each phase

– Internal review for public release has been completed for Phase I submittal

11

Technology Transfer

12

• We have written an abstract for ShipTech 2016

SEE TITLE SLIDE FOR DISTRIBUTION RESTRICTIONS

Requirements Development for OJT Delivery

System

• Begun immediately after kickoff meeting

• Stakeholders held working sessions to list desired features and

capabilities

• Assumptions were documented

– a key one is that a wireless system is or will be in place in production areas!

• Desired features and capabilities were assigned a priority level

• “Final” set of requirements was issued in June 2015

13

SEE TITLE SLIDE FOR DISTRIBUTION RESTRICTIONS

• Shall support multiple video formats

• Ability for multiple users to access same training video simultaneously

• Track instructor use as well as employee trainee use

• Ability to display/use Multilanguage videos

• Ability to exit system and the system will resume the video where the

training left off

Each step is conducted via the Panopto Service unless otherwise noted:

Step 1 Video Content Developer submits a Video for review/approval

Step 2 Reviewer/approver reviews the candidate video, provides

comments or approves

Step 3 Video Content Administrator moves the video to production for

access & sends out notifications of new content

Step 4 Conduct training

Step 5 Video Content Administrator observes training statistics,

feedback, and reports

Step 6 Training effectiveness is evaluated

Step 7 Training Plans are revised and or new training is developed

Honeywell Captuvo SL62 –enterprise sled transforms an Apple iPad into an engagement tool specifically engineered for retail, hospitality, and field service workers. It is an easy tool to enable users to look up inventory to gain product information, scan barcodes and process secure payments. The device uses an optional encryption-ready magnetic stripe reader (MSR) that protects sensitive data. The SL62 also provides an extra layer of protection thanks to its protecting design that can avoid breakage even after a 4-foot drop of the device.
