5 Myths of LeanUX
Myth 1
Lean UX = Minimal UX
Lean UX ≠ Minimal UX
Lean in this context doesn’t mean least or minimal. DoingLean UX doesn’t mean doing the least amount of userexperience work you can get away with.
Myth 2
Lean UX = UX + Agile
Lean UX ≠ UX + Agile
Agile is a development methodology for programming that breaks large projects into small manageable chunks. UX in an Agile environment is NOT Lean UX.
Myth 3
Lean UX minimizes up-front research
Lean UX minimizes up-front research
In Lean UX, doing research upfront about your customers/users is critical. BUT you do just enough to answer the experiment at hand.
Myth 4
Lean UX = Wasteful
Lean UX ≠ Wasteful
Waste is any human activity which absorbs resources, but creates no value.
Myth 5
Lean UX is all new
Lean UX is not all New
Lean UX uses the same techniques and tools that UX people have been using for decades.
“A Startup is a human institution designed to deliver a product or service under conditions of extreme uncertainty”
– Eric Ries
