LEADERSHIP LINK CONNECTING AND EDUCATING NEW MEXICO’S LEADERS From the Chairman of the Board Dear Friends & Colleagues, Leadership New Mexico is excited to invite you to this year’s “Leadership for a New Decade” Annual Dinner and Golf Tournament. We hope you can join us for a special evening celebrating another amazing year on Friday, May 8 at Sandia Resort and Casino and for the Annual Golf Tournament at Sandia Golf Club on Saturday, May 9. April 9 is the Early Bird deadline for discounted tickets. We are proud to announce the 2020 Distinguished Alumnus Award recipient, Laura Conniff, Core Class of 2004. and the Distinguished Leadership Award recipient, William P. Lang. These leaders will be honored at the Annual Dinner for their accomplishments and contributions to their communities and the state. In January, the 2020 Connect New Mexico Program concluded with the final session in Roswell. Since 2010, the Roswell community’s hospitality has helped participants enjoy a memorable graduation session. Congratulations, Connect Class of 2020! Please join me in welcoming the eighteenth Local Government Leadership Program class. Their first session in Santa Fe included team building exercises and presentations from experts on a variety of issues facing New Mexico. The second and final session will take place in Albuquerque in the middle of April. So far in 2020, Core Program participants have completed the economic development session in Las Cruces and recently visited Hobbs for the fourth session focused on education. The remaining sessions include the environment and natural resources session in Farmington and the government, crime and justice, and leadership session in Taos. The Alumni Program hosted a behind-the-scenes tour at Spaceport America and Virgin Galactic. Please see the enclosed information about other exciting tours coming this spring and summer. 2017Glen Adams, Chief of Staff for white Sands missile Range, has taken the position of City manager for the City of Santa Fe, texas.

2018Steve Vierck, Assistant Commissioner and Director of Special Projects for the New mexico State Land office, has taken the position of Assistant Commissioner of Commercial Resources with the New mexico State Land office.

2019Robert Baldridge, general manager - New mexico operations with Intrepid Potash - New mexico, LLC, has been promoted to the Senior Vice President for Intrepid Potash - New mexico, LLC.

Paul Farless, Chief operating officer with SDV Construction, has been promoted to the President and Chief Executive officer for SDV Construction.

the Local government Leadership Program (LgLP) is an educational partnership between the following organizations:

the Local government Leadership Program Class of 2020’s first session was held in Santa Fe. the class engaged in personal leadership and skill building exercises with Phil Bryson, on the Edge Productions, followed by dinner at the gerald Peters gallery. During the session, the class learned about New mexico’s history and culture, budget and capital outlay issues, the tax system, economic development, K-12 and higher

education, and healthcare. In the evening, the class attended a reception at the governor’s mansion.

CONNECT CLASS OF 2020

the Connect Class of 2020’s final program and graduation was held in Roswell. the program began with a tour of Dean Baldwin Painting followed by dinner at Pioneer Bank. on wednesday, the class gathered at Eastern New mexico university – Roswell to hear from speakers on topics related to municipal, county, and state issues and structure. thursday’s educational component was held at the Roswell museum and Art Center and featured speakers on the topic of education, including K-12 and higher education. the class toured mIStIC Inc. and three Amigos Dairy. the group had a tour and dinner at the Historical Society of Southeast New mexico.

Friday’s activities included team building exercises at the New mexico military Institute led by Phil Bryson. the group toured and had dinner at the Anderson museum of Contemporary Art with their graduation ceremony which wrapped up the year.

The 2020 Connect Class visited Three Amigos Dairy, located in Roswell. Thank you Charlie DeGroot, Core Class of 2007 and Three Amigos Dairy Owner.

The LGLP Class of 2020 participated in team building exercises led by Phil Bryson, On the Edge Productions.

LGLP participants enjoyed a reception at the Governor’s Mansion in Santa Fe.

LEADERSHIP NEW MExICO ALUMNI PROGRAM the Leadership New mexico Alumni Program was launched in September 2001. In the twenty-four Core Program, eighteen Local government Leadership Program, and thirteen Connect New mexico Program classes, more than 1,750 participants from 87 communities have explored the issues facing our state. the goal of the Alumni Program is to continue the education of Leadership New mexico graduates in a meaningful and dynamic way. Interaction with graduates from other programs and classes expands networks, exposes leaders to a diversity of perspectives, and fosters professional and personal relationships. As a graduate, you have the capability to be a powerful voice for change in New mexico.

LEADERSHIP NEW MExICO LIFETIME MEMBERSHIPIn 2009, Leadership New mexico established an Endowment to secure the future of the organization. the purpose of the Endowment is to provide a permanent source of income to offset administrative expenses, which serves as a financial cushion against lean times to ensure that Leadership New mexico’s mission will be sustained in perpetuity. gifts to Leadership New mexico’s Endowment are made through Lifetime memberships and are fully tax-deductible. Currently, 260 Lifetime members have contributed to the Endowment. It is not necessary to be a graduate of Leadership New mexico to become a Lifetime member.
