our average scores are wellabove the national level."Apart from the new building,the Department of Speech andCommunication Studies plans tounveil a new undergraduatecurriculum in speech andhearing in the fall of 2000.'The B.A. curriculum willdefinitely be new andimproved," said Dennis Lutz,director of the Governor GeorgeLeader Speech & HearingCenter. '"The students witlbenefit by their increased abilityto select electives that willbetter prepare them for thegraduate school oftheir choice."Shinn said that each springnearly 150 applicants apply to

get into EUP's graduateprogram in speech languagepathology. When all is said anddone, only 20 of thoseapplicants are accepted.Although nearly half of the 20accepted graduate studentsattended Edinboro asundergraduates, many otherEUP graduates go on to schoolssuch as Pitt, Penn State, andother major researchuniversities."We want our students to findtheir own path to success,"Shinn said. "Every year, welose some of our top notchundergraduate students to otheruniversities. And really, wecouldn't be happier for them."
