Twenty-sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time
How is it that we are merely aware of the misery—poverty, discrimination, injustice around
us? Is it because we have not learned to see, or that we prefer not to see? It is said of God in
the Old Testament that he saw the misery of his people, and, seeing it, he liberated them.
Jesus saw the misery of the people around him and he did all he could to free them. Let us
ask the Lord here with us that we may learn to see our own afflictions and those of the peo-
ple around us. Then we can, with God’s help, do something to remedy them.

Renovation Update: We have finally received approval to com-
plete the remaining work in the church area,
parish hall and other specific areas. This
means that the East Nave will again be
sealed for over two weeks, leaving the
main nave of the church available for the
parishioners to use during this time, espe-
cially during Sunday. We hope that this
may be the time when parishioners may
begin to consider evaluating their support to
complete other projects that many of you
wish to see completed.
We would like to ask any of the parishion-
ers who wish to donate materials or know
someone who might be willing to do so, to
let the parish office or Fr. Efren know at
your convenience.
Materials needed: One inch thick Micro-Lok Fiber Glass
Pipe Insulation of various sizes
Plastic elbows
Tape to cover iron heating pipes
Help us reduce the cost of our renovations
by donating materials that you or someone
you know can donate. For further details
contact the parish office.
Please Help us Help the Poor St. Vincent de Paul Society of St. Jude’s
asks for your help. We are in desperate
need of the following items: Rice (2kg and
less), canned soup, peanut butter, jam, pasta
sauce, canned fish and meat. We thank eve-
ryone for your help in meeting the needs of
the less fortunate in our area. Items can be
brought to the parish during office hours.
We have a Winner!!!
Congratulations Vipul Shah (Ticket #064),
he is the winner of an Apple Mini iPAD
32GB. Thank you all who participated by
purchasing tickets to help raise funds for
our Parish. A total amount of $1,058 was
raised from this draw which will be put to-
wards our renovation efforts.
Catechetical Workshops We have started a Catechetical series of
workshops which will continue for six con-
secutive Wednesdays until October 16,
2013. Time: from 7pm to 9pm. Place:
Holy Family Room. Call the Office if you
still want to join.
What does bulletin advertising
do for our parish? It pays for the production of your week-
ly bulletin. Plain and simple. If you do
not take the bulletin into the communi-
ty, our advertisers will take their busi-
ness elsewhere. The least we can do is
support them by bringing the info home
to those who may not necessarily attend
mass. If you have a business or you
know someone who does, consider ad-
vertising in our bulletin and in so do-
ing avoid having to pay for it our-
selves. Sending out the production of
our bulletin will eliminate languages
and other benefits we presently have.
Advertise with us and support adver-
tisers.
My Offering, Sacrifice & Support As part of our belonging to the Commu-
nity of St. Jude’s Parish, we continue to
remind our parishioners of our common
responsibility to provide support to our
parish so that its doors continue to be
open to us when we need it. We partic-
ularly remind those who do not use
envelopes that it is now expected for
anyone seeking services of the
Church to identify themselves as
members of the parish through the
use of envelopes.

Registration for First Communion
and Confirmation
Parents who called to sign up for an inter-
view with the pastor to discuss First Com-
munion or Confirmation will be called this
week to set up a time for a meeting with the
pastor.
Since it is expected that parents should al-
ready be attending mass regularly, it follows
that those who are attending would have
heard the invitation both at the pulpit during
mass as well as in the bulletin. Therefore,
given that the dead line to sign up was Sep-
tember 20th, we suggest that those who did
not take the time to sign up, start attending
mass regularly so that you do not miss these
invitations and be able to meet the expecta-
tions for these sacraments. The following are
the requirements:
The family must live within the bounda-
ries of the parish. (proof of address re-
quired) or on-going attendance with regis-
tration at the parish.
if the family does not live within the
boundaries of the parish, previous registra-
tion and active participation in the parish
(as stated above) is considered as qualifi-
cation for parish membership.
Attend Sunday Mass regularly (Saturday
Vigil Mass included) not just starting to-
day, but previous practice must be identi-
fied (occasional participation is not
enough)
Families belonging to other parishes must
seek the assistance of their pastor for this
or any other sacrament.
REGISTRATION PROCESS
Registration will take place as follows:
1. Book a Screening Meeting
2. If approved, a Registration Form will be
provided with instruction to register.
3. Attend an Orientation Session once regis-
tration has been submitted and approved.
Parents, you have until Friday, September
20th to make contact with the parish and
make an appointment to see the pastor for
the Screening Meeting. After this date we
are not accepting applications for this
year; however, you can always plan for
next year.
