supports a large family of
Catholic agencies that truly do
feed, clothe and shelter people,
care for the sick and frail, and
befriend the isolated and lone-
ly. Reflecting Catholic charity, they protect
the vulnerable, guide and counsel the trou-
bled, visit people in prison and give a voice
to the voiceless. Regardless of their reli-
gious beliefs or personal background, Share-
Life agencies meet people where they are,
treating them with the dignity and respect
we all deserve.‖—Thomas Cardinal Collins,
Archbishop of Toronto.

Capital Campaign “Renewing our Hope in Saint Jude”
Our ongoing Campaign continues
this year and we ask that the parish-
ioners of St. Jude help as much as they can
to keep caring for our Church Building. We
encourage those who did not make a pledge
to contribute generously to our monthly col-
lection. Thank you for your support.
Next Sunday May 11, 2014 we have a
second collection for the Capital Cam-
paign. Thank you for continuing to
support the needs of your parish.

dren who will be Celebrating

many graces and lasting happiness."

Questions for Reflection: From today’s Gospel:
Can you relate to any of the
following:
Inability to recognize Je-
sus?
Sudden realization that the
Lord is present?
III Sunday of Easter
Our scripture lessons for today have one common, encouraging theme:
No matter what happens in our lives, the Risen Jesus is always with
us. God is always near to those who seek him and who want to live in
his presence, doing his will. The Emmaus incident is the story of a
God who will not leave us alone when we are hurt and disappointed.
Would you like to be a Lector, Eu-
charistic Minister, Usher or join a
Committee in the parish?
Call us and we can help you join!!
Pre-Authorized Giving How Do I Enroll? Fill out the
PAG form which you can pick up at
the entrance of the Church or in the
parish office. You can also request it

Reflecting on our
Pastoral Plan St. Michael’s Cathedral, the mother
church of the archdiocese, through the
ministry of the archbishop, unites every
local Catholic under the heavenly pat-
ronage of the great defender of the
faithful, the archangel Michael. As the
prototype of parish life, the cathedral
will lead the way in pastoral care and
public witness. The work already under-
way to maintain and repair the cathedral
will continue. We also have exciting
plans to develop the area near the cathe-
dral - the ―Cathedral Block‖ - into a
place of gathering, worship and out-
reach, through St. Michael’s Choir
School, space for outreach to the poor,
and a centre to gather and teach, as well
as to provide opportunities to engage
the world through media and the arts. In
a city of diverse cultures and a growing
media presence, the Catholic Church
must become a gateway of faith and
evangelization. Visit
www.archtoronto.org/cathedral to view
the four goals associated with ―The Ca-
thedral as Sign of our Mission‖.
Catholic Education Week “Serving in the Love of Christ”

the ongoing gift of publicly-funded
Catholic education. At St. Jude Catho-
lic School the following activities are
planned:
Monday, May 5th: Family Numeracy
Night & Empowering parents
on Cyber Safety 5:30-8:00 PM
Tuesday, May 6th
: School Mass at
9:30am at St. Jude’s Church Wednesday, May 7th: Marian Celebra-
tions Rosary in the gym at 9:00am
Thursday, May 8th: Celebrating our
coaches
Friday, May 9th: Public Speaking
Competition Grades 3 – 8 in the gym
You are invited to discover what cele-
brations are happening in your chil-
dren’s school and if possible, attend.
Publicly-funded Catholic education has
existed in Ontario since 1841 and its
graduates have served Ontario and Can-
ada very well. The current generation
of students in our publicly-funded Cath-
olic schools will serve with the same
spirit and generosity as their previous
generations.
