A note about this model:Since hull number one was launched in late 2003, the Lagoon 440 has come to exemplify allof the qualities of the Lagoon line of cruising cats. First of all it has been very successful, withmore than 270 of them sailing around the world and more rolling off the line at the rate of fivea month.

At 44 feet overall length and with a 25-foot beam, the 440 provides a lot of area for living,sailing and enjoying life—about the same size as a small studio apartment—but with a muchbetter and more easily changed water view.

The 440 is the third generation of Lagoons which includes the company’s unique flying bridgedesign - incorporating a raised compartment. From the vantage point of the raised cockpit orflying bridge, you will be able to see sail trim clearly and will have excellent visibility fornavigating through coral waters or when docking in tight situations. The central helm stationgives perfect 360° visibility from above with all the control lines within easy reach to thehelmsman. This allows even a shorthanded crew the ability to maneuver the Lagoon 440. Thelarge bench seat in the helm station is a favorite hang out spot. A stainless framed sunbrellabimini top shades the flybridge. The sailing rig offers plenty of power for a cruising boat so the440 will sail happily at 8 to 10 knots in a good breeze.

The Lagoon 440 is notorious for it's spacious saloon with 6'6" headroom and a 360 degreepanoramic view of the outside. The after cabin is a mirror of the master sleeping cabin. Theforward cabin is smaller but will be comfortable for a couple.

Hulls and decks are hand laid and then vacuum-bagged to ensure light weight and completeresin infusion. Hulls are solid fiberglass below the waterline. Closed-cell foam core is usedabove the waterline to minimize weight and provide extra stiffness. The deck is cored withbalsa, and areas where deck hardware attaches are reinforced with solid glass.

The hull design is powerful yet seaworthy, bow volume and care in the weight distributionreduce the pitching motion to a minimum. The gull-wing shaped deck allows smoother passagethrough the waves . High ratio sail plan and fine hull appendices make this new Lagoon 440 afast seaworthy, comfortable and elegant catamaran.
