FROM STUDENTS’ QUILLS Science and Technology

Today, when I look back at my initial years, I realise that there are many things which have changed in our lives, especially due to the vast leap in science and technology, and their contribution to our now advanced thoughts and musings. Research is all I'm doing when I don't know what I'm doing. Nobody knows what one might discover without even realising. For instance, let's take the example of Euclid's postulates. One of them says that a part is always less than whole. This is referred to common sense today. But the first one to write this down was Euclid and hence, he is known as one of the best mathematicians.

Here, at our school, we don't only focus on academics but upon their practical application as well. Curiosity is both sparked and fed here, and it has a profound impact on the thinking and decision making of young individuals. Our school has always believed in teaching students how to think, not what to think. 'A for' not only stands for apple, but also for an ant, an alligator, an angel. The use of technology on our campus is not only limited to the computer lab. And science in its own form helps us to understand all other subjects in a better way.

There are many things which have been discovered. But still there are infinite things which are waiting for their discovery, and I strongly believe one of our own will tend to them. Success is a science. If you have the conditions, you get the results. Thus journey to mastering the science of success begins here, and it begins now amidst the revolutionary times.

Aniket Sahran Headboy, 2018-19

WONDERS OF SCIENCE

As far as we have come into the middle of the 21st century where 2025 is closer to us than 1998, neglecting science’s wonders can be almost counted as being unaware. Science isn't always about technology or robots that we usually imagine but it's the quite opposite. It is present pretty much everywhere and when understood can open doors to the impossible. Science is rooted in the very history of our mankind.

There are many things that have blended in with our lives to an extent that we almost never question them- like electricity, and the internet. But science and technology goes beyond those things- like tracking things with the help of satellite navigation, capturing pictures of smallest microbes to the largest stars, and the progress has made quantum leaps in the last few decades.

Anaesthesia, X rays, even paper is seen as one of the greatest developments of science by scientists these days. But science goes beyond all that, and has reached a level where laser beams with lifting ability as a fantasy in a show called Star Trek have been invented. Evidence of water on Mars, gravitational waves, making of robotic body parts that actually work have all been the greatest discoveries of all time.

Science has come a long way from the heliocentric model and discovering other celestial bodies to genetically modifying crops and creating artificial intelligence. Science is an integral part of our lives and it is this inquisitive nature of it which allows for its further progress. Scientists and their discoveries and endless and fascinating, considering the fact that they have even started researching on making a human (working) heart out of a spinach leaf. Science, if seen and observed, can make our lives easier with time depending on how creatively we use our knowledge everyday and how many problems we are able to find a solution to each day consciously or unconsciously. The progress goes on, and encourages young minds every day to contribute to the vast spectrum it has become today.
