Foto Fiesta is considered, the biggest event of Smriti, the photography club & is a 5-day festival of photography conducted between the 4th & 8th of February 2019.
With a retro theme, the event created a lot of intrigue. The photo gallery of the college show-cased a spectacular display of pictures addressing important issues like thinning birds population and its adverse effects on the environment. All the photographs amazed the onlookers and were placed thoughtfully. Inauguration of Foto Fiesta was done by Mr. Mahesh Reddy, an ace wildlife photographer. He also gave a talk on wildlife photography. He explained to the students about the challenges one faces in wildlife photography and also showed some of his work.
On day 2, the guest speaker Mr. Ravitej
enlightened the audience on various aspects and
the essence of street photography. He also
shared his mantra which is ‘Picture Speaks
Louder Than Words’ with all the students
present. This was followed by an interactive talk
session on day 3 with Mr. Chetan Karur, a
Bengaluru based photographer whose stunning
work has been published in many renowned
magazines. He talked about his journey in
becoming the most successful baby
photographer. On day 4, the guest spoke about
how photography happened to her by chance
and now there is no looking back for her, as she
established herself as the most sought wedding
photographer. She creates magic in her pictures
by capturing deep emotions and weaves a story
with her photos.
On the final day which is day 5, the club
conducted the photo hunt which was the most
awaited event. The event was different from the
normal treasure hunt filled with surprises and
cash rewards for the winners. The entire week

The Literary clubs of ASE-B : The Humour Club, Lekhani-the Press Club, Maardhani-the Literary Club and The Quiz Club came together to organize ‘Litweek’ from 4th to 8th February 2019.
The week started with 'MASQUERADE', which was a wonderful blend of humour, drama and elocution with the participants having to deliver a speech in character as the situation given to them. Topics ranged from subjects like - a General giving a rallying speech to his army, a daughter-in-law refusing to pay dowry, a son convincing his parents about a career in being a Youtuber among many others. The participants efficiently captured the essence of their characters, delivering their speeches with the utmost conviction and vigour, making the most of their time on stage and letting their imaginations take the wheel. In ‘CAPTION IT’, participants were shown a set of pictures and were expected to write a funny and witty caption. The event garnered entertaining responses. ‘SPELLING BEE’ tested the language abilities of the participants. In the two rounds, the participants were required to spell out commonly used words that are often overlooked, a challenge that the participants took up enthusiastically. At the end, the event proved the importance of keeping an eye out for the correct spellings. ‘LITQUIZ’ with questions based on modern culture tested the participants’ decrypting skills and their familiarity with contemporary affairs. In the culminating event, ‘CUT-IT-TO-FIVE’ the
participants were given funny situations and
were required to speak out a dialogue each. The
major catch in the event was that each dialogue
had to be made up of only ‘five’ words (not a
word more or less). Each one got a chance to
speak out one dialogue. Framing a dialogue
consisting of exactly five words was slightly diffi-
cult, but it added to the humour of the event.
The participants tried hard to find the right
words for the dialogue and many times ended
up in creating some uproarious statements. This
event marked the end of LitWeek and the audi-
ence hoped to participate in more such events.

ACROM and IEEE RAS in association with IEEE RAS Bengaluru Chapter joined hands to organize RASE’19 (Robodium@ASE), ASE-B’s Annual National Level Robotics Competition from 8th to 10th February 2019.
The event was conducted with an aim to lay a platform for young college students to compete in lively battles ranging from mind puzzling, algorithm testing and design improvement seeking competitions through the robots they built to showcase in the competition. RASE’19 had a total of 48 teams from 22 Engineering Colleges from all over the country, participating across five different competitions, namely LIFO, Throttlewars, Robo Soccer, Death Race and Maze Runner. The event was flagged off by Associate Dean Prof. Rakesh S.G., Chairman-CSE Dr. Amudha J., and Mentor ACROM & Mentor IEEE RAS Student Chapter and Mr. A. A. Nippun Kumar. Following the flag off, the first event was Death Race. This event challenged the bots of the participating teams on different terrains and mediums. The subsequent event, LIFO, the line follower-based competition put to test the coding skills of the participants along with their calibration and design strategies, a competition which witnessed a heated battle owing to the high skill sets of the participants. The second day was kick-started with ‘Robo Soccer’, a fun yet exacting event which demanded teams to control their high-power driven bots in order to score goals in a race against time. The first round of the next event -Maze Runner played to the interests of many inquisitive minds. It was the first of its kind event that involved the bot to maneuver itself out of a maze that was created at the site of the event. However, the complexity of the challenge proved too hot to handle, as no team qualified for the second round.
The event saw the best 3 teams in each of the events winning a total whooping amount of Rs.66,000/-. The three-day event came to a close after the distribution of certificates and prizes for all the events in their respective arenas. Given the increasing influence of robotics in the modern day, it was overwhelming to see the response from the participants who turned up in large numbers to exhibit their skills and understanding in building robots. Following an extremely successful stream of competitions that played host to some exciting, prospective talents in the field, the event concluded with participants leaving with broad smiles and moments to cherish for time to come along with a deeper understanding of robotics.
