Dr Binayak Sinha (endocrinologist) - Management of menopausal symptoms in women with Diabetes / Thyroid disorder 2. Dr. Sushrut Bandopadhyay (Cardiologist) -Balancing Menopausal management in women with risk of VTE and ischaemic stroke - relation with route, dose of MHT 3. Dr. K.D. Bakshi - MHT & CHD- in the light of DOPS and WHI 4.Dr R. Gopalakrishna (Urologist) - Tmt of Vaginal Dryness-a) Data regarding addition of progestins with local estrogen b), Also use in breast cancer patients on Tamoxifene/ aromatase inhibitor 5. Dr Bipasa sen - a) Role of MHT in prevention of osteoporosis-related fractures- relation with age and dose.b) Custom compounded Bio-identical Hormones- are they safe? 6. Dr. Indrajit sardar (Orthopaedician)- treatment of Osteoporosis- Estrogen/ Bisphosphonates/Raloxifenes or others? 7. Dr. Suparna Ghosh Ray(Oncologist) a)-Relation of MHT & risk of Ca breast and other gynaecological malignancies -b) Recommendations for use in Breast Cancer survivors,c) Role of Bazedoxifene 8. Dr. Basudeb mukherjee(gynaecologist) -a)MHT or O.C. pills in P.O.F.? b) Choice of molecule in MHT- Dydrogesterone/ Bazedoxifene/ LNG-IUS / low dose MPA? 9. Dr.Debashis chatterjee(Psychiatrist)-a) Can MHT delay/ protect/ worsen alzheimers , vascular dementia? b) Role of SNRI, CBT and other tmt options in Mood Swing & sleep Disorder 10. Dr. Ratnabali Chakraborty- Overview of MHT- Latest recommendations and Guidelines from International , Indian , North american and British Menopause Society. In post-lunch Session, from 3-5 pm, a Panel Discussion was organised summarising all the topics resolved in RTM with Dr Ratnabali Chakraborty as moderator and the other 9 doctors as panelists.This Session was attended by 57 doctors- mainly gynaecologists . The whole program was helped by Educational Grant from Pfizer Wyeth.

28th December 2014 – Multispeciality CME ON Menopause Management

IMS kolkata organised a Cross speciality CME On Update on Menopausal Management on28th

December 2014 at Hotel Hyatt Regency, Kolkata.The program started with a Round Table

Meet from 11am to 2pm alongwith case presentation and discussions highlighting the unresolved grey

areas in menopausal management by a close group of 10 doctors as follows-

1. Dr Binayak Sinha (endocrinologist) - Management of menopausal symptoms in women with Diabetes

/ Thyroid disorder

2. Dr. Sushrut Bandopadhyay (Cardiologist) -Balancing Menopausal management in women with risk of

18th & 19TH October 2014 – WORLD MENOPAUSE DAY IMS Kolkata organised 3 consecutive programs on

18th & 19th October to celebrate World Menopause Day.

PROGRAM I -Public Awareness Program plus Health Check up Camp, Venue & Time- Rabindra Okakura

Bhawan, Salt Lake, Kolkata

This program was again divided in 3 phases-

1. Health Check up camp - 10am- 12 noon

Estimation of Hb, Sugar, BMD, BMI & TSH was done free of cost for 85 women of 40 plus age group.

The results are all kept in record in order to make future database if any.

2. "Meet The Experts" - 12 noon - 1 pm

An interactive session between the ladies & a panel of doctors including Dr H.P. Pattanaik, Prof .Biman

K. Chakraborty, Dr. K.D. Bakshi, Dr. shaktirupa Chakraborty and eminent physician Prof Sukumar

3. Activities by Ladies- 1- 2 pm

25 ladies including few doctors were asked to pick a piece of folded paper each with few dialogues

from scripts of Tagore' drama written on it. They were then asked to act that part of drama on stage in

2 minutes.. Eminent elocutionist Ratna Mitra and film Director Mahua Bhattacharya volunteered to be

the judges. The first 3 winners were awarded trophy & prizes and all participants were given a small

memento with IMS Logo embossed.

18th October 2014 - CME on CHD was organized by Kolkata Chater as the second Program no World

Menopause Day at Rabindra Okakura Bhawan at 3- 6pm on 18.10.2014. The topics & Speakers were as

follows -

1. Risk Assessment of CHD in menopausal women- Prof Sajal Dutta

2.Prevention of CHD in Menopausal Women - Dr. Arnab Basak

3Management of CHD in Menopausal Women- Dr. Sushrut Bandopadhyay ( Cardiologist)

4. Role of HRT in CHD - Dr. Basab Mukherjee

The whole program was chaired by Prof. Mumtaj Sanghmita and Dr. Suranjan Chakraborty

The Program was attended by 40 doctors and was very interactive.

19th October 2014 – CME IMS Kolkata organised a CME on 19 .10.2014 from 11am- 3pm as the program

no. 3 of World Menopause Month.

The Topics & Speakers were as follows -

1, WHI - critical Analysis - Dr. Bipasa Sen

2. Panel Discussion on Day to Day problems in Menopausal Women- Moderator- Dr Alok Basu

Panelists- Dr. Sudip Saha, Dr. Sudhir Adhikari, Dr. Subhash Mukhopadhayay, Dr. S, S. Jana, Dr.

S. Chakraborty

3. Detection, Prevention & Surgical Management of Early Ca Cervix - Dr. K.D.Bakshi

4. Debate

a) HRT can't be denied with a view to Ca breast-

Against- Dr. Subrata Saha (Medical Oncologist)

b) ART with Donated Eggs is recommended in menopausal women

IMS Kolkata organised Nu Life Workshop at Hotel Sonnet, Salt Lake, Kolkata on 13th July, Sunday from

1.30 - 5pm.The program was carried out according to the specified modules provided. The Topics &

Speakers were-

1. Basics of Menopause - Dr. Sudeshna Dutta

2. Symptoms of Menopause - Dr. Rashmi Baid

3. Management options - Dr. Sourav Das

4. Long term sequel in Natural & Surgical Menopause -Dr. Indraneel Bannerjee

5. Screening for Malignancies - Dr. Maninder Ahuja

6. Controversies - Dr. Priyanka Angelina

7. Conclusions- Dr. Smriti Prasad

The program was attended by 45 doctors. It was very interactive and interesting since all latest

guidelines were discussed in detail.

BMI Calcuator kit, Nu Life OPD Card and Self Breast Exam Module was given to all participants

Dr. Maninder's active presence added extra glamour to the whole program.

IMS Kolkata organised 2 public awareness programs-

1. on 21.06.2014 - at ILS Hospital, Salt Lake. at 2-5 pm

Topics- I) Prevention& awareness about osteoporosis- Speaker- Dr. Ratnabali Chakroborty

ii) Prevention &awareness about Diabetes- Speaker- Dr.Rekha Srivastava

35 ladies attended the program. Estimation of blood sugar, BMD & BMI was done for all of them free of

cost.

We are keeping the reports since it may help in preparing a database if needed.

2. The 2nd Program on 28.06.2014- at Mahaveer Sadan, at South Calcutta in collaboration with Jain

Conference. time-3-5 pm

Topics & Speakers-

a)Awareness about gynaecological malignancies &importance of screening - Dr.Sudip Chakroborty

b)Perimenopausal bleeding- Dr. K.D.Bakshi

c) Preserve Bone Health& Prevent Osteoporosis- Dr. Bipasa sen

d)Urogenital problems in 40 plus & maintenance of hygiene- Dr.Nirmala Pipara

The program was attended by 35 ladies. Estimation of Vit D3 was done at a subsidised rate for 26 ladies

- of whom only 3 had normal Vit D3 level and 23 were found to be Vit D- deficient.

IMS Kolkata organised 2 CMEs

On 03.06.2014 at 8- 10 pm-- at Park Hotel - Topic-"Tackling Women's Midlife Crisis- What's new in HT?"

Speaker- Prof. David Barlow, Director, Women's Health Services at Hamad Medical Corporation,Qatar

and former Executive Dean of Medicine at University of Glasgow. The speech was followed by a Panel

discussion by Dr. Ratnabali Chakroborty, Dr. Kusagradhi Ghosh and Dr. K.D. Bakshi on way Ahead for

MHT in India. The program was attended by 45 doctors including prof B.N.Chakrovorty and Prof Biman

kr. chakraborty . The program was sponsored by Abbott India

On 07.06.2014 at 2- 4.30 pm ---at Hotel Hindusthan International -- .

it was a case-based panel Discussion on 'Comprehensive bone care for Women"

Panelists were- I) Dr. Indrajit Sardar(Orthopedics), ii) Dr. Binayak Sinha(Endocrinologist), iii) Dr. Basab

Mukherjee and iv) Dr. Kusagradhi Ghosh. moderator- Dr. Ratnabali Chakraborty. The program was

very interactive and was attended by 70 doctors.

19th February 2014 - Public Awareness programme on Cancer Cervix

Today, 19th February,2014, IMS Kolkata organised an Awareness Program about Cancer Cervix at

Bidhannagar Govt, College, Salt Lake.It was a 2 hour program (3- 5pm) attended by 45 students and

10 teachers of the college.Dr. K.D.Bakshi, Dr. Ratnabali Chakraborty and Dr. Bipasa Sen spoke about Ca

Cervix- it's present scenario in India, it's aetiopathology and prevention. It was followed by an

interactive session- in which we answered several queries of students and teachers. At the onset, in

order to assess the students' interest and basic knowledges of several preventable diseases and

vaccines, we asked few questions . Those who gave correct answers- were given chocolates.The

program was very interactive and enjoyed by all.
