Please read this page but don't type it.Alignment
Text alignment is the position of text on the page. The heading is centred or centre aligned.
Using the centred button aligns the text in the centre of the left and right margins.
Using the align left button aligns the text with the left hand margin.
Using the align right button aligns the text with the right hand margin.
Justified alignment stretches the text to fit within the left and right margins. This text is justified and the word processor automatically wraps the text to the next line. Unlike a typewriter it is not necessary to press the return button at the end of each line.
Font
A font is a style of lettering. There a number of fonts available to add interest and ease of reading to a word processing document.
Some fonts are:
Avant Garde GothicBookmanCourierHelveticaNew Century SchoolbookPalatinoTimesZapf Chanceryap D n atsZ f i gb This font is where symbols are used instead of alphabet characters.
Default Settings
Each new word processor document has what are called default settings. Default settings are standard settings which the software program designer sets. When beginning word processing these are a good guideline and should be adhered to. Margins, type of font and text alignment are all default settings.

Before You Begin A Word Processing Document
Before you begin a word processing document there are decisions which need to be made and actions to be carried out regarding the format, layout or design of the document. This is done to avoid confusion and messy formatting later in the process.
These things are:
can you read all of the text you need to type? do you have any questions about what you are going to type? is there any formatting you’ve never done before? If so find out how it is done
before beginning. save the document set the margins choose the orientation of the page select the font and font size you wish to begin with choose the alignment choose BOLD, ITALIC OR UNDERLINE do you need to use a table, columns, tabs or indents? where do you need to start the document on the page? will you have more than one page? are there any headers or footers, or could they be useful?
The format of a document applies to every character, space and blank line in a document.

Dear Mr Knight
Several orders we have placed with your firm have not been supplied although we have been invoiced for them. unfortunately, we settled two such invvoices before realising that the goods had not arrived.
Errors occur in even the best run offices, but I think you will agree that it is unusual for a succession of such mistakes to be made. I hope you will be able to identify the cause of the problem and rectify it at once.
Yours faithfully
Ms O Wall

ASSIGNMENT THIRTEENInstructions
Set your document for double line spacing and type as below. Use the spell checker to check your work. Save in your folder as Assignment Thirteen.
The intense interest aroused in the public by what was known at the time as "The Styles Case"
has now somewhat subsided. Nevertheless, in view of the world-wide notoriety which attended
it, I have been asked, both by my friend Poirot and the family themselves, to write an account of
the whole story. This, we trust, will effectually silence the sensational rumours which still
persist.
I will therefore briefly set down the circumstances which led to my being connected with the
affair.
I had been invalided home from the Front; and, after spending some months in a rather
depressing Convalescent Home, was given a month's sick leave. Having no near relations or
friends, I was trying to make up my mind what to do, when I ran across John Cavendish. I had
seen very little of him for some years. Indeed, I had never known him particularly well. He was
a good fifteen years my senior, for one thing, though he hardly looked his forty-five years. As a
boy, though, I had often stayed at Styles, his mother's place in Essex.
