Refurbishment
Kira Valves & Engineering are fully equipped to repair and refurbish most makes, types and sizes of valves
using skills and experience attained over many years. Our 3500m² premises consists of a valve refurbishing
facility which comprises of stripping, sandblasting, machining, welding, assembly, testing and spraying
services.
Refurbishment
Valves are returned to the original state
by applying either the clients’
specifications or working to standards.
We make reference to international
and local specifications such as ASME,
BS, SABS, etc.
Valves up to 3 metres in size are
refurbished and individually certified.
Up to 90% of all valves can be
refurbished at considerable savings
when compared to purchasing a new
unit.
Kira Valves and Engineering is capable
of refurbishing almost any type of valve,
such as the ball, gate, swing, globe,
butterfly, safety & pressure reducing
valves

Our scope also includes various low,
medium and high pressure boiler
valves.
Hard-faced stellite welding and
high velocity oxy-fuel process is
offered.
Ball & shaft grinding offered.
Reverse engineering or OEM spares.
All valves are stripped, cleaned by
proper methods and thereafter
inspected to ensure they are within
the customer specified tolerance.
Valves are reassembled, pressure
tested and painted in accordance
with our clients requirements.
Non-destructive testing such as X-
rays, Dye pen testing, UT testing, MPI
& PMI may be requested.
All valves are pressure tested as per
ASME B16.34, API 598, API 6D and
various other international
standards, thereafter a test
certificate is issued.
QCP’s and/or ITP documents can
be provided.

Strainers
Strainers are used in almost every industry to protect
equipment and to ensure product purity. We offer a
cost effective design that is used in applications
where the flow is least interrupted.
The strainer is installed in a pipeline to remove
unnecessary solids from fluids or gases.
Straining is accomplished by directing the fluid
through a basket where debris is trapped on the
inside of a screen element and clean fluid flows
through the outlet.
Different apertures/screen sizes can be offered.
Screens can be offered to capture smoke particles.
Our basket strainers are available in standard or
custom designs.

What
Fabrication
Our capabilities extend to cast iron,
carbon steel, stainless steel, CN7M,
stellite, and many more.
We can provide hard facing for valve
components using stellite (Cobalt-
based Alloy) followed by machining
which allows for a longer service life.
Refurbishment of valves often
necessitates the welding of
components i.e. Valve bodies and
wedges.
Welding can be supplied with full
certification, Welding Procedure
Specification (WPS) and Procedure
Qualification Record (PQR).
Our Heat Treatment Furnace handles up
to 1200°C. This complements our
welding facility. A diverse range of welding
requirements can be accommodated
and not limited to valves.
NDT results are provided on request.
Manufacturing
Kira Valves & Engineering manufactures’ a
range of valves and products.
We offer CNC and conventional machining
services. We accommodate both
production and jobbing orientated
quantities.
Our machining capabilities go well beyond
valve spares and conventional items.
Our Horizontal boring mill can handle up to
3m.
The horizontal machines can handle up to
1m.
