At the end of our Nigerian unit we celebrated this amazing country by tasting some of their foods, playing a traditional

game and drawing cultural masks. Here is what Gr. 2 thought:

Ayanna—I liked tasting the little donut things called Chin Chin

Kate—I wasn’t at school that day, but I would have loved to break open the coconut.

Eli—I liked playing Ayo—a game where stones or beans are moved in a different spot in egg cartons.

Sam—I loved eating the coconut and making the Chin Chin with my Mom.

Jen—I loved tasting the food because it was yummy. My favourite was the Chin Chin.

Payton—I loved eating the mango. It was sweet and juicy. I kept asking for more.

Jacob—Eating the Chin Chin was my favourite.

Prayer of the Llama—by Brock L. O Lord, Here I am, I am thankful for my strength, my strong long neck, my courage. I almost forgot, thank you also for my fur to keep me warm O Lord, thank you for all these things. Amen

Prayer of the Camels—by Justin P.

A little patience, Lord I will be there. Thank you for nature, for the water you give me, I don’t want to be mean for all the spit I spit. Hopefully my eyes and my heart, shall not turn my heart and humps from you. Amen

Prayer of the Tree—by Jan R. God! Oh, how tall I am! How colourful my leaves! How much I love all the little creatures sheltering in my trunk. For I am happy to give them my shelter. Thank you that I am so beautiful, And that I can play such a role in your wonderful creation. Amen

Here is a glimpse into what we are doing in preschool this month! Each month we have a theme. This month, the theme is Our 5 Senses. Here are some fun answers, given by our Thursday class, to questions about our senses: What smells good: green jelly beans (Elizabeth) grapes (Mason) hot dogs (Norah) What smells bad: stinkies (Mackenzie) pickles (Ava) chickens (Mason) puppies (Harper) What do we see in the Spring: flowers coming out (Mackenzie) rain (Ava) What food tastes yummy: chocolate cookies (Joshua) ice cream (Elizabeth) pickles (Harper) What is loud? trains have a loud whistle (Ava) John, Annabel, and my cat meowing (Joshua) elephants and dinosaurs (Norah)

On February 2 we celebrated 40 years of service at Trenton Christian School by Mrs. Elsie Kuipers, our Gr. 4/5 teacher. It’s hard to surprise someone like Mrs. Kuipers, who knows all the comings and goings here at the school, but Mr. Bron was able to pull it off. The whole school body gathered in the gym, along with some of Mrs. Kuipers’s family and friends to celebrate her service here at TCS. One of our current teachers Mrs. Stacey Siebenga, was in Mrs. Kuipers’s first Gr. 1 class so she gave a tribute to Mrs. Kuipers. John Bontius, one of our Board members, was also in one of Mrs. Kuipers’s first classes and he and his daughter, Emma (who is one of Mrs. Kuipers’s current students) presented her with a bouquet of flowers and a brick from the original TCS campus. It was a fun afternoon of celebration

Desiring God “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind”. (Matthew 22:37)

Throughout this school year we have focused on providing opportunities for our school community to celebrate how Christian education provides a solid foundation for shaping and guiding students into being wonderful disciples of Christ. Each month we have highlighted some of the wonderful attributes for God-glorifying people: God Worshippers, Community Builders, Servant Workers, Justice Seekers, Beauty Creators, Creation Enjoyers, Order Discoverers, Idolatry Discerners, Earth Keepers, and Image Reflectors. Through our lessons, assemblies and projects we identified and affirm that God is the God of All Things!! The leaders of today and tomorrow are being shaped at Trenton Christian School. Caring Christian teachers are infusing the education of every student with a vision that seeks the knowledge of God and His kingdom, along with the opportunity to grow and flourish. The world needs young people who know and understand the truth of God’s love and of Jesus’ redemption. That’s why Trenton Christian School seeks to make Christian education accessible to all families. At TCS we desire to be more than just a good school. We desire to be a distinctively Christian, and an excellent learning community where our students flourish, both now and in the future. Finally, our desire is to remain totally com-mitted to serving and glorifying GOD.

Yours in Christ, Mr. Allen Bron, Principal

The TCS School Board has had a very exciting year. The school has seen growth and new life in all areas of the school. We are thankful for Ms. Ashley Davy, who is here to fill in for Mrs. Janelle Hill who is on maternity leave. Mrs. Lind-say Trafford is also away on maternity leave. We pray for God's blessing for both the Hill and Trafford families. Our staff’s love and dedication to our Lord and to the school is very evident through all their hard work. Throughout the year we wel-comed a number of new families to our school body. The fall drive was another way we see God provide for the school with an amount of $134 000 raised! God is good! This spring we are currently working on completing a principal’s review. This is done every 3 years. In the near future we will be opening our own Thrift store called "The Treasure Chest Store". Opening day will be a tribute to the hard work and dedication of many individuals. Proceeds from the store will assist those who utilize the school’s bursary fund, assist in community projects, and help support the Christian School Foundation and other entities. The school has been blessed with so many creative, hardworking and talented volunteers and committee members. We ask for continued prayer support to have God direct decisions that are made. Please continue to pray for all staff, fami-lies and volunteers who help make this school a success. It is inspiring to see the school community working together for a common theme of sharing our love for Jesus Christ. Retiring Board members are Lindsey Wyngaarden, Aaron Repar and Joe Dibbits. Thank you for all your hard work and dedication. We are excited to welcome new Board members after our spring Membership meeting on May 18, 2016. Please mark your calendar and plan to attend. Please feel free to approach any of the Board Members with any questions or thoughts. The Trenton Christian School Board
