Dear Readers,

There is such a joy knowing that you are taking the time to read KidWise. It is a blessing to us and an honor to bring you a monthly magazine. It is our desire that your family be blessed by it's content. We feel each issue is designed for you with your family in mind. The Lord has put it before us as a ministry to reach the heart of the child. What better way to do that than touch the heart of the par-ent.

This month we are focusing on 'Families that Stick Together". The Lord has designed the family for His purpose. It is meant to be the place of His heritage and a place where His word remains the central focus. Raising our children and having family roots in His word, His ways, His plan, and His design is where 'life' for our families come from. The word of God tells us in Psalm 1:1-3,

"Blessed is the one who does not walk instep with the wicked (also meaning the world system) or stand in the way that sinners take (the world's secular philosophy or ways), or sit in the company of mockers, (those who do not believe His word or Him), but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, (His word and Him), and who meditates on His law (His word) day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither- whatever they do prospers."

Our families can be planted by streams of water, we are trees of heri-tage, rooted in God's word. We are to be families of faith, grounded in love. It is the Lord's design for us to yield fruit in our seasons. Fruit of every kind. Part of that fruit is our children. Each stage and age of our children's lives are to be fruitful seasons. As parents and individuals, the fruit of our lives is meant to be blessed and abundant. We can trust that we, our families, and our children will never wither... The Lord promises us that, 'what-ever we do, can and will prosper’ as we are planted in Him and His ways.

European families have always held high interest for me. Living

in Germany for many years as a young girl and traveling

through Europe has given some interesting and unique influ-

ence in taste. One thing interesting is the history of European

families.

In the 18th century these families consisted of grandparents,

their children and grandchildren living in one home. These fami-

lies consisted of five or more children. These families consid-

ered their children 'assets' in their lives.

Just as many of these 18th century families conducted their

'family life', we can learn from their family concepts to do the

same. The importance of families sticking together was obvious

then and should be just as emphasized now. They could actu-

ally live together throughout the years and enjoy each other,

passing their trades along, and being friends for life. Imagine

how powerfully united our families would be if we considered

these "simple" things; to stick together and enjoy each other

throughout our entire lifespan.

The Lord refers to Himself as the God of "Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob". You can see in

Genesis 12:2-3 the blessing He gave Abraham and his family. Not only did He bless

this family, He stood behind them calling Himself the God of Abraham and his sons.

The Lord shows us in His word that He takes families seriously.

To tie our families together with the word and the blessing is what the Lord would have

us to do. He calls families and He designs them. Let's follow the design He has des-

tined for our families. Embrace His ideals and the clear vision the Lord has for the fami-

lies of the earth; to bless them and make them a blessing, not only throughout the

earth, but within the home itself.

"And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you [with abundant in-

crease of favors] and make your name famous and distinguished, and you will

be a blessing [dispensing good to others]. And I will bless those who bless you

[who confer prosperity or happiness upon you] and curse him who curses or

uses insolent language toward you; in you will all the families and kindred of the

earth be blessed [and by you they will bless themselves]."

Building confidence in children inspires creativity.Taking the time to offer a project and encouraging a child to go

after something impacts individuality. Making a project that they've colored, or crafted, even planned by choosing their

design encourages confidence. This expands creativity.

Creativity, confidence and concepts can all be found in the process of design in our children. Encouraging con-cepts that highlight their creativity, builds their confidence.

Take a concept and put it before your child. Let them take that concept and design it, build it and highlight their individuality. As they do, let them know how great a job they're doing.

You will see a sparkle in their eye and a smile on their face that speaks so clearly of their God-given confidence He de-

sires for them.

What better opportunity than to offer confidence to our chil-dren through hands-on experience. As we encourage them to be creative and go after everything the Lord has called them

to do, they will shine with His glory.

Offering them the opportunity in music, performing arts, creative arts, education, and most importantly life through

the word of God, will bring wonder-filled things from our children. Bringing them to the word of God and them to know

their God, will give them opportunity to do great things. As KICKS encourages creative individuality in every child, we

have truly found the KICKS Motto shine brightly in their lives;

"The kid that knows their God will be strong and do great things!" Daniel 11:32 -KW

We all know how annoying it is to reach the end of putting together a puzzle only to discover that the final piece is missing. Ah, the frustration! But with this project you can turn that frustration into fun-filled purpose! Gather your mis-fit puzzle pieces, paint, brushes and any other fun, creative things you would like to decorate with and have at it!

Instructions:Paint over the original design with a acrylic paint. Allow to dry completely. Paint another coat if necessary. While drying, decide what you want to do with your pieces and gather necessary supplies. Here are some of our ideas:

Celebration Garland Pick a phrase such as 'Happy Birthday' or 'Congratulations' for your puzzle. Use one puzzle piece for each letter in the phrase. Once finished, use yarn and clothes pins or punch holes in each puzzle piece and thread yarn through to hang for your celebration.

Decorative GarlandFor child’s room or party, much like the phrase idea, only using plain pieces. Use yarn and clothes pins or punch holes in each puzzle piece and thread yarn through to hang.

Magnets Create a magnetic backing for your decorated puzzle pieces with either magnetic tape or hot glue and round magnets. Use as gifts, party favors or for yourself.

Place HoldersWrite names on decorated puzzle pieces and use as place holders for showers, par-ties, etc.

Gift TagsPunch a hole in the “top” of each puzzle piece to string yarn through and write “to” and “from” on each piece.

Storage TagsUse as toy, accessory or art supplies bin/basket labels. Write on each puzzle piece according to the bin you are placing it on. Hang on each bin/basket by punching holes in each puzzle piece then stringing yarn through, or use hot glue to glue piece to bin/basket.

Everyone knows how important healthy snacks are, right? But sometimes its easier just to grab the junk, or the 'on the go' prepared snacks are a bit pricy. Here are some tips on how to prepare

some cost effective and healthy snacks for your family!

Tip: Prepare fresh fruit and veg-gies ahead of time. Pick a time of the week that works with your schedule to wash and cut enough fruit to last your fam-ily through the week. You can even have little hands help wash the fruit and veggies for you.

Tip: Store fruit and veggies in in-dividual containers.Use fresh cut fruit and veggies or even canned/jarred fruit and store using baggies or individual sized containers. Keep in the refrigera-tor in a specific place that is easy for everyone to reach in and grab what they're in the mood for.

Tip: Buy block cheeses.Buying block cheese is usually more cost effective than the "snack" sized sticks. As mentioned with the fruit and veggie prep, pick a time of the week that works with your schedule and slice or cube pieces of cheese. Store in baggies or individual sized containers for easy grab and go.

Tip: Healthy snack foods in baggies.Pick things such as crackers, dried fruit, nuts, granola, healthy cereals, etc. Use plastic snack baggies or individual containers and place one serving in each baggie/container. Pick a drawer in your kitchen or use a basket on the counter, in a location that is quick for everyone to get into and grab one of these healthy snacks.

Tip: Prepared 100% juice or milk.Instead of continuously spending the money on juice or milk boxes, invest once in "on the go" cups. There are several different types and styles out there that you're sure to find something suitable for each member of your family. Fill the cups the night before, or even as you're leaving with 100% juices or milk, or even water for a healthy choice of liquids to keep your body hydrated.

I have a friend who's dad is al-ways fixing everything with duct tape. If the sink leaks, duct tape it. If the window screen has a hole in it, duct tape it. I had a tear in my bike seat and my friend fixed it with duct tape, no more hole. My friend says duct tape can fix any-thing. I guess duct tape for my bike seat, sinks and screens is like God is for our lives! The Bible says Je-sus is a friend that "STICKS" closer than a brother, plus I know He can fix anything...

How are your days filled? Psalm 23:6 says, "Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever."

To think, His love is following us everyday of our lives! To also think, we are dwelling in HIS house everyday forever... That house would be defined, His tabernacle, His presence, His love and His goodness.

Can you imagine love and goodness always follow-ing you and surrounding you and everyday of your life dwelling in it? That is what Psalm 23 promises in our lives from the only true Good Shepherd.

Psalm 25:13 says, "He will spend his days in prosperity, and his descendants will inherit the land."

Amazingly, His promise to us is to also spend our days in prosperity! Prosperity of spirit, soul and body. The prosperity of life. He said to us that Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and Life. He has promised us the prosperity of Him, and not only for ourselves, but that our children also 'inherit' this land of blessing, as well. It is His plan we spend our days in His abundance, His promise, His blessing. You know, the "land of milk and honey"!

Psalm 27:4 states, "One thing I ask of the Lord, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to seek Him in His temple."

What He asks of us is to seek His dwell-ing, seeking His tabernacle, which is the dwelling place of the Lord with us. We tabernacle with the Lord. In that place we gaze upon His beauty. We are adorned in His beauty.

We find His word promises us that we are the temple of the Holy Spirit and that He dwells with us. He wants us to know He is with us, following us, never leaving us... As we 'look' and 'experi-ence', (another concept of seek), after that dwelling place, we 'look' and 'experience' His beauty. It is there that His 'beauty' is gazed upon and experienced. That beauty would be defined: His character, virtue, es-sence, blessing, promises, abundance, prosperity, goodness, and love!

I see the Lord as 'beauty full' and He fills our days with 'His beautiful goodness and love'. It's overflowing and following us everyday.

This is the 'day' the Lord has made, let's simply rejoice in it!

Have you ever heard the saying misery loves com-pany? Well, that's really not true. Have you ever tried to be company to misery? It just doesn't work, here is why. Misery is a completely self-motivated condition which simply means it is rooted in selfishness and pride.

How many of us already know that selfish, prideful people don't want to hear your troubles? That's be-cause they want it to be all about them. So in other words, they don't want to share your misery. The com-pany of people who love and live the word is what holds true. These know and love the power of encour-agement that comes through the word. But hey, good news! God wants us to come to Him through His word. He wants us to encourage ourselves out of any misery.

"David was greatly distressed... but encouraged him-self in the Lord HIS God." 1 Sam. 30:6

So instead of moping around in misery, rise up in the word.

Keepin’ It Real

What is 2:twenty? 2:twenty is the youth outreach of KICKS Ministries & Victory Harvest Church in Sunbury, Ohio. 2:twenty was formed way back in 1997. Originally formed as an in-house, youth led, band for the church youth group, 2:twenty has proceeded to take on various forms and functions as the ministry has changed and grown. 2:twenty now serves to empower youth with the gospel of Jesus Christ through creative arts, fine arts and the media. 2:twenty has become an intricate part of a church and ministry that focuses on arts and the media. Our goal is to mobilize a generation that acts, thinks, talks, and lives differently.

God’s LoveWhat is this love Jesus has for us? Why is it so important to live it, breathe it and know it? Because everything our God does for us is love. Everything we do for our God is because He first loved us so we can love Him. Because God is for us, who can be against us? People who know God's love, who REALLY know God's love, are the most stable and undisturbed people in the world. Imagine if we could all rest in God's love, how stable and powerful our words could be and are!

If we just rest in that love freely given to us, then we become fully established in what God has for us. God has decided we were worth it, so we can do that. Yes, we are worth this love because He chose it. We as youth, or people of Jesus, are marked with His love. So, we can make a difference in everything, just by knowing His love. We are marked, rooted and growing in God’s love; we are not moved. (Ephesians 3:16-20)

"...that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have the power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ..." Ephesians 3: 17-18

KICKS Club is an outreach of KICKS Ministries and Victory Harvest Church. KICKS Ministries and Victory Harvest Church, Inc. is a recognized 501(c)3 non-profit church. We produce educational, Christian television programming and family films. Two of our programs, "KICKS Club" and "KidWise", currently air on multiple networks, over 30 times weekly. We also currently have four new programs in various stages of production and have released our first full length, feature film "Sybil Ludington" and are in post-production on our second full length feature film “NEW”. "KICKS Club" is the longest running, "currently produced", Christian educational program for children.

KICKS Club has over 40,000 members and unites children for the purpose that they may feel they are a part of the Body of Christ worldwide. Children can watch KICKS Club and our other programs through various media outlets. We are now excited about offering more free resources to reach children and their families to equip them in the Word of God. We have always offered free membership cards, certificates, and packets for kids, but now, through "Kid-Wise" Magazine and our KICKS Club Resource Network we are offering color-ing pages, music downloads, scripture cards, curriculum, and much more.

As we reach children through our media resources, we offer children member-ship to KICKS Club and opportunity for them through our media outreach, KICKS TV to participate in KICKS Club's "Kids 2 Kids". Our focus is to reach children with the Word of God, inspire them in the creative arts, and equip families through offering quality family programming as well as through our webpages, and e-magazine.
