Take University 101

University 101 provides students with information vital to succeeding at this institution. Students learn about study skills, healthy eating, rules, resources, policies, and how to follow the Creed. Also, I recommend you get Professor Luna, because he’s the best U101 Professor in the world!

Utilize Your Planner

How else do you expect to remember that you have to attend a lecture on Tuesday night, an essay due friday, a powerpoint due Thursday, chapter on monday night, and a environmental club meeting on Wednesday afternoon. Use your planner! You’re a human, not a computer; you can’t remember it all on your own!

Eat Healthy

South Carolina has so many different restaurants and types of food to offer for the students. It’s hard to resist Chick Fil-A, Taco Bell, McDonalds, Chicken Finger Wednesday, and Biscuits and Gravy. But, there are healthy and delicious options! Eating healthy is important to your mind, you need vegetables and fruit to keep your brain sharp! Also, never skip breakfast. You need the energy to get you through the day!

Make a To-Do List

Our teachers, coaches, group and organization leaders, parents, friends, bosses, and other people expect a lot from us! You are expected to complete everything, so make a to do list! Cross things off when you complete them! Reward yourself when you cross everything off your list with some frozen yogurt or a new dress from Wish!

Procrastination is Deadly!

Do not procrastinate! It may seem like going to the mall or watching that TV show instead of working on your essay is a good idea, but I assure you it isn’t. You’ll feel great when you get things done! If you leave everything to be done the night before it is due, you will be stressed beyond belief and may be prone to a panic attack!

Sleep!

Some people say “College Students Don’t Sleep”. You do not want to be the sleep deprived college student. It will affect your studies, your eating habits, your social life, your mental health, and other things. Nobody wants to be nocturnal, so try to get at least 6 hours of sleep at night! If you don’t, you will be struggling during the day, snoozing during class, and not functioning normally.

Get Involved!

School is the main reason you’re here, but don’t limit yourself to the library! Get involved around campus! Go Greek! Join a club! Attend the student events! There are so many different activities offered at this large University and it would be a shame and an injustice to yourself to neglect them!

Make Friends!

Friends are so important. You need them as support and you need them there to motivate you and keep you going. Sometimes people forget how important it is to be social and that will really hurt you in the long run.

Talk to Your Teachers

Your teachers determine your fate..or your grades. If you are confused about an assignment or a grade, go in and talk to them! They are actually quite nice and they want you to succeed; that’s why their teachers! Don’t be scared to discuss anything with them because it will make them and you more understanding.
