1 -Best season, weather and temperature

French Polynesia is a year round destination, with a tropical oceanic climate and always has pleasant weather.French Polynesia usually has 2 types of seasons: dry season from May to October and damp season from November to April.

Hotel rates and travel expenses (international and domestic flights) vary according to low and high season.

The Damp Season, tropical rains are more frequent and weather is more stormy than usual. The rain usually never exceeds 4 or 5 consecutive days. Bad weather doesn’t hit all of French Polynesia at the same time. This is the time of prosperity for the earth and the sea, the vegetation is luxuriant and the tropical fresh fruit and vegetables are mature. It’s also the breeding period for reef and lagoon fishes. This period is better adapted for long stays in our islands

During the dry season, on average, there is much less rainfall. The weather is dry, but we are on an islands in the middle of the Pacific Ocean and the gentle breeze of the tradewinds are refreshing, even during evenings and nights which are mild! This is the time of year you should visit if your stay is short. It should be noted that French Polynesia is a large territory, and climate varies depending on the area. Archipelagos like Austral and Gambier are farther from the equator than society or Marquesas archipelagos, they therefore they have a softer climate. By contrast, Tuamotu archipelagos has about 3,000 hours per year of insolation, amongst the highest in the world! You must not forget, however, that climatology is not an exact science, this is the tendency of Meteo France.

During high season, prices increase quite significantly. Flights are usually full from July to August and prices skyrocket accordingly. The Christmas to New Years period is also particularly busy. The best deals can be found during the shoulder seasons – April to June and September to November.

However, If you have flexible travel dates, your trip can be planned and you will get discounted prices!

Our advice : if you want good weather, low rates, no crowds, is between march, April and May and

book your flights 6 months in advance if possible. Be flexible on your dates : Save money on your accommodation, flights and activities.

In addition to the price of your flight and your stay, you must dedicate some «pocket money» budget for shopping, activities and meals.Life is expensive in French Polynesia, this is due to being on an island and most products are imported from abroad and therefore taxed.

Page 6: 10 tips-to-succeed-your-tahiti-and-bora-bora-vacation

It is never easy to choose between resorts, cruises and guesthouses.

In a resort, you can try an overwater bungalow experience, you are on the water, you can observe lagoon fauna and dive directly into the lagoon from your deck!

With guesthouses, you can really experience the Polynesian way of life, you will be in direct contact with island inhabitants. (It’s also a great accommodation for low budgets)

You can also discover Tahiti and her islands by cruising. This is a great experience, the Pacific ocean is so beautiful! Meanwhile, it takes at least 3 days according to the type of cruise and the place you hope to end up.

A family vacation to Moorea and Bora Bora offers special, once-in-a-lifetime experiences.Jumping off your overwater bungalow’s deck into crystal clear blue waters isn’t the only cool thing kids love to do in French Polynesia. Bouncing along in a Jeep past old World War II canons, petting stingrays and paddling an outrigger canoe also top the list.

Moorea and Bora Bora (the nation’s two most popular islands) may be honeymoon hot spots. But this tropical South Seas paradise also welcomes families. Some hotels offer suitable structures for families and for their kids.

If you dream of having a few hours each day entirely to yourselves, you should organize a stay at a resort with a kids program or a babysitting service.

On Tahiti and Moorea, only the Radisson Plaza Resort Tahiti offers kids program, but the major resorts all offer babysitting. On Bora Bora, the Four Seasons Resort Bora Bora has a Kids Club, a dedicated Chill Island for teens and babysitting available. The St. Regis Bora Bora Resort has a Kids Creativity Club as well bicycle rentals and a calm Lagoonarium for snorkeling; and both the InterContinental Bora Bora Resort & Thalasso Spa and the Bora Bora Pearl Beach Resort & Spa offer babysitting upon request. The Meridien Bora Bora has a turtle and fish center. It can be noted that children’s meal is offered in some hotels.
