Dear Brother Knights & Family, July has passed and boy, what a great month it was!! To kickoff the new session we had an excellent time at the 4th of July Picnic. Want to thank all who came out & participated. Was nice to see old & new faces getting involved in our coun-cil. Also had our annual Fraternal Five Crab & Seafood Fest on July 19th. Another good time had. Want to thank everyone, especially the small group of gentlemen who stepped up and made us shine! Also want to thank the other families for putting on a great show as well. The community recognizes what we do. Let us shine on, and continue to do the great things we do. Friday Night socials w/music & Friday Night dinners are moving along well. 1st being Taco Night. 2nd being Spa-ghetti Night, which turned out to be a hit! Any one looking to put on a dinner please see either myself, or any officer. Month of August… Aug 9th- We had a Corn-hole tournament, but was cancelled due to scheduling conflicts. It will be re-scheduled for a future date. Talk to Andy Reese or myself for more de-tails. With that being said, we decided to have our Clean up the Street on that day. Anyone who can make it, please show up at the council @ 9am on the 9th. Tricia will have the bar open for coffee & drinks. Aug 16th– Our Annual Incoming/Outgoing Ceremony & Dinner. Unfortunately, due to lack of sales of tickets, I re-gret that we are cancelling this year’s ceremony. Aug 23rd– NASCAR in THEBAR. Race w/ goodies Aug 30th– CFB Kickoff. Goodies to help kickoff the CFB season. An afternoon event. See Dave Nelson, or PGK Carl Lee for details. More Upcoming Events: Sept 1st– Labor Day Picnic 12-4pm Sept 6th– 80s night hosted by Steve “The Beach Blaster” Duke. Sept 12th & 26th– Friday Night Dinners.

Deputy Grand Knight’s Report Brothers, As we are moving through this year, we are wanting to bring more of the council members back around and having a more active role. One perfect opportunity is with the Friday Night Dinner/Socials. If anyone would like to volunteer to co-ordinate & run a Friday Night Dinner/Social, please contact me. The council will provide the startup funds, so no money comes out of your pocket, unless you want it to. Also, if you do happen to run a dinner, or need to use the kitchen, please remember that when you are finished, the kitchen needs to be cleaned up. This saves us money, and also keeps unwanted tenants out of the building. I would like to say thank you to PGKs Mike Borkowski, Bill Dewey, and all other PGKs and brothers who came out and helped with the Crab & Seafood Fest. We have a lot of events coming up very quickly. One is the 2014 Monkey Bottom Classic. It’s time to begin prepara-tion to reclaim the Monkey from those boys over at the VFW.

23rd Annual Fraternal Five Crab & Seafood Fest
I would like to thank all the Brother Knights that came out and helped at this year’s event. The rain at least held off and it wasn’t a wash out, but the crowds were not there either. Most of all I really want to thanks all the PGK’s that showed up to support this event and worked hard. PGK’s Dewey, Clark, Dolan, Wood, Gagne, Boyd, & Fuss, also fellow Brother Knight’s, Kevin East-er, Louis Contreras, Jeff May, Terry Ward & Kevin Ehrhardt. From the Editor Brothers, In response to the need to minimize the expenses of the council, we are going to be forced to make some changes with the distribution of the newsletter. After this newsletter, members who live in the Hampton Roads area will no longer receive their newsletter via mail. Mem-bers outside the Hampton Roads area and all widows will contin-ue to receive the newsletter via mail. There will be newsletters available for pickup at the Council Lounge. From the Knights Lounge This has been a busy month with lots of changes still to come. Thanks to everyone for all the support. We plan on offering new beverages and having snacks and food on the weekends. Keep a look out on the council Facebook page for most current events. September the council will hold 2 dinners and August 23rd come up for some food and NASCAR, and of course let's not forget about the start up of football. We looking forward to great times with great people. Keep watching for upcoming events like 80's night in the lounge, flash mob party and much more.
Also in Sept, Jim Sosa & his team will be starting up the Sunday Breakfasts. More details to come. At the bar, we have been forced to increase prices on beer. Tricia is going to also be bringing on specialty beers @ $3/per bottle. One more thing; During our Friday Night Socials, from 6:30 to 8:30, I am asking that there be no smoking in the bar.
