Kappa Keynotes The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International-Eta State-North Carolina Region VIII Kappa Chapter-Charlotte-Mecklenburg County Vol. 74, No. 3 December 2015/ January 2016 The President s Message Dear Kappa Sisters, Happy New Year to All! Kappa New Year’s Resolution: Be an active participant in Kappa. This 2016 resolve to… Ø Participate in Kappa meetings by conscientiously attending bi-monthly gatherings. Your contributions to planning, suggestions of activities and the pleasure of your company make Kappa a stronger chapter. Ø Participate in Kappa fundraisers (BUNCO, Brags, 50-50, Book Sales, Invest in Kappa). These are small ways to build our chapter funds so we can do more for our members and community. Ø Participate in Kappa service projects by collecting pop-top tabs, which provide Ronald McDonald housing for families of sick children; collecting Box Tops for Education labels, which are donated to a local school to redeem for physical education equipment; and collecting medicine containers for Malawi, to distribute medicine to the destitute people in Malawi. Ø Participate in Kappa special community service activities, such as donating school supplies for needy students and food drives for local community food closets. Ø Offer yourself as a presenter at a meeting to share an educational topic and promote discussion. Be a part of Kappa! We are more than members-in-name-only. As key women educators we are activists. We are active in our chapter, active in our community, and active in the pursuit of excellence in education. Attend our meetings, hear our fabulous guest speakers and join in our activities, which directly benefit students in our community. Meet and network with your professional sisters. Relax and enjoy the good company of others at meetings, BUNCO, our picnic and dinners. Come to Kappa! We’re looking for you!!!
