Wood Block Print

This quote was carved by a machine on a wood block. I then used black ink and a roller to put it on paper. I enjoyed designing with this quote both for its message and for the chance to do something with the repitition of “one”. I made the “o” in one look slightly like a cog for a machine and then contrasted the bold type with the script font. Created with Adobe Illustrator, wood block, black ink, and roller.


This newsletter and email for a hospital includes a cool, soothing purple for subheadings, and warm browns to highlight quotes and frame shorter pieces. I also used serif fonts and rounded corners, aiming to convey a sense of comfort, friendliness, and safety. Created with Adobe Indesign and Adobe Photoshop.

I created this poster and glasses takeaway for a visiting lecturer. I chose Saul Bass, famed creator of some of the first animated movie title sequences, as well as logos and posters. I tried to emulate his penchant for bold and slightly uneven blocks of color. Created with Adobe Illustrator.

Poster & Takeaway


This is the home page of a 3-page website I created for arist Saul Bass. The logo is inspired by his thick glasses, and the blocks of color are based on common colors he liked to use. Navigation buttons lead back to Home, Posters, Logos, Titles (for film), and About. The middle portion is an animated gif in the style of his posters and film sequences, advertising his trip to campus as a visiting lecturer. I tried to reflect the boldness of Rockwell with this type specimen book. I included photo examples of the font in use, examples of each variation of the font (light, bold, condensed, etc.), various font sizes, and different font colors against paper white, orange, and navy. This carrier is for a set of meals, prepped and packed for sale by a local grocery store such as Walmart or HyVee. The carrier can be put straight into the freezer and shoppers can grab lunches and dinners for a single person for the week. Created with Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop.

These containers are for lunch salads. The labels are color-coded for Mexican, Italian, Asian and Classic meals. Front display labels include the logo, food title & subtitle, the tagline “Fresh. These round meal-prep containers are for the dinners and are also color-coded for Mexican, Italian, Asian and Classic meals. The black portion wraps around the container lid to the bottom, to seal it. I used the light brown color to emulate the color of paper bags or cardboard. I really wanted to give the brand a sense of authenticity and simplicity, to convey that the local neghborhood grocery store kitchen is cooking real meals for the customer. This wayfinding system was created for Metropolitan Community College - Penn Valley to aid students, faculty, and visitors in finding their way around. Each building is color coded and features a combination of painted walls - as shown at right - and bright, bold, cheerful and modern signs. Yellow=Campus Center, blue=Humanities, green=Science and technology. These pictures show the stairwell (right) and a directional sign (bottom left). Wayfinding System


The top left picture shows a Humanities classroom sign with the braille highlighted in a block line of blue dividing the building name and the room number. The picture to the right shows the front view. Blue and gray are painted on the walls, HU and room number 106 are in large bold type, and the white sign is a space for a a letter sized piece of paper to have the class(es), teacher’s names, and days/times printed and displayed easily each semester.
