The annual awards and in stallation dinner of the Tor- ranee Civitan Club will be held Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at thr Jump 'N Jack Restaurant.

Secretary Filing Date Announced
Secretaries are needed by the City of Torrance. All appli cants must have been residents Of Torrance fnr at least one year immediately proceeding the date of filing.
Final filing date Is July 1. The civil service exam will be given July 12 at 9 a.m. at Tor rance High School. Room 100. Applicants must be high school graduates with two years of general clerical experience.
Candidates must be able to type M words per minute and take shorthand at 100 words per minute.

A crackdown on drunk driv-j ing in California was made during the first quarter of this year.
Arrests for the serious of- fense totaled 14,212, according to the National Automobile Club, a rise of 28 per cent over those recorded in the same pe riod last year And March al one saw 5,000 arrests
