From the Pastor’s Desk Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

This Sunday at all Masses, Fr Chuck Domn, will be speaking about a topic that is very sensitive: Domestic Violence. Fr. Chuck is a priest from the Archdiocese and has been in

the ministry of trying to help those affected by domestic violence. During his homily today, he will cover many aspects of this issue.

He will also be asking for people to work with him in the forming of a support group at our Parish that can provide help to those affected by domestic violence. I would like you to

prayerfully consider being part of this group.

Fr. Chuck will cover many aspects of the issue of Domestic Violence. The following is some information on this topic.

WHAT IS INTIMATE PARTNER PHYSICAL ABUSE?

Physical abuse includes the physical assault, battery, and sexual assault used as part of a systematic pattern of power and control perpetrated by one intimate partner against another. Physical abuse can cause severe injury and even death. It often co-occurs with other forms

of abuse, including psychological abuse, economic abuse, and stalking.

WHY DOES IT MATTER?

Intimate partner physical abuse is not bound by age, socioeconomic status, race, ethnicity, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion or nationality; it exists in all communities.

Contrary to popular belief, physical abuse is not simply a maladjusted person's occasional expression of frustration or anger, nor is it typically an isolated incident. Physical abuse is a tool of control and oppression and is a choice made by one person in a relationship to

control another.

I want to thank Fr Chuck for speaking at all of our Masses this weekend. Please pray for those who are suffering this type of violence. Again, please consider becoming part of our

Parish Ministry that will provide support to those affected by this type of violence.

intymnego partnera przeciwko drugiemu. Nadużycia fizyczne mogą powodować poważne obrażenia, a nawet śmierć. Czesto występuje wraz z innymi formami nadużyć, w tym

nadużycie psychologiczne, nadużycie gospodarcze i śledenie.

The Miracle of Life The human body is the most complicated and incredible machine in the world.

Its bones, muscles, arteries, veins and internal organs are organized with marvelous design. Every part of the body, though each may seem to be so different from another, is made up of the same material: cells.

Cells, each of which is one thousandth of a millimeter, are the structural units that form our body and everything in it. Some of these cells unite to form bones, others to form nerves, the liver, the inner layer of the stomach, the skin or the cornea of the eyeball. Each has the size and shape that exactly meet the requirement of that part of the body.

How and when did cells, which have such varied functions, come into being? All the approximately 100 trillion cells that make up your body today came from the division of one single cell. That single cell which had the same structure as all the cells in your body now, came from the union of your mother’s egg cell and your father’s sperm cell.

Yes, life begins at conception!

FOOD OF THE MONTH CLUB

At a date to be announced later, sometime toward the end of July, the St. Vincent De Paul Society is going to host our Annual Back

to School Distribution, where we distribute all types of school supplies to all the students of our Parish. We will be purchasing and distributing every imaginable school item that our children

need to be successful students in the coming year. This distribution is open to every child in the parish. Last year it was a

very successful event, and we hope to serve all of our parishioners again this year.

In light of this upcoming event, instead of asking for donations of food during the months of June and July, we are asking for your

help with donations of the following items.

PENSPENCILS

LOOSE LEAF PAPER

If you don’t feel like shopping for school supplies, but would like to help with a monetary contribution, we have envelopes in the back of the church labeled with the Back to School Distribution. You may place your contribution in the envelope and put it in the

St. Vincent De Paul box located in the vestibule directly above the box for the donations of food.

Your school supply donations can be placed in the box in the vestibule where you normally put your food donations, or they can

be taken to the Rectory during normal business hours.

Thank you for your constant and continued generosity. May God Bless you for all that you do.

Fear NotHow do people find hope in the face of suffering and death?

That is the question addressed by today’s scriptures. We hear of the suffering of Jeremiah and the psalmist. We hear

of the death that “reigned from Adam to Moses” (Romans 5:14). We hear of the fears of the Twelve as

Jesus sends them out into the world to preach and heal.

Through all this tribulation one message rings out loud and clear—“Do not be afraid!” The God who saved Jeremiah

and the psalmist and Jesus is fully present to save us through the gracious gift of Jesus Christ. We have nothing

and no one to fear.

TODAY’S READINGSFirst Reading — The LORD has rescued the poor from the

clutches of the wicked. (Jeremiah 20:10-13).Psalm — Lord, in your great love, answer me

(Psalm 69).Second Reading — The grace of God overflows for all.

(Romans 5:12-15).Gospel — All who acknowledge Jesus before others will likewise

be acknowledged by Jesus before the Father. (Matthew 10:26-33).

Pray the Rosary The Morning Rosary Group of St. Turibius Parish is

extending an invitation to all parishioners to join us in the recitation of the rosary celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the Apparition of Fatima in 1917. The rosary will be said

on the 13th of July, August, September and October of 2017 at 6:00 PM in church.

On August 19, 1917, Our Lady of the Rosary asked “I want you to continue praying the Rosary every day”.

The Morning Rosary Group has been saying the rosary in church for the past 43+ years after the weekday morning

Mass. Please join us as we continue to follow Our Lady of the Rosary’s request.

Parish Mission Statement

We Believe that God is Love, and when we live in love we live in God and God lives in

us! Therefore we, the Parish Family of Saint Turibius, dedicate ourselves to living out

Christ’s Great Commandment: we will love the Lord our God with all our heart, with all our soul, with all our mind, and with all our strength, and we will show our love for God

by the way we love and care for one another. To this end, we will respond to our baptismal

call, strengthened by the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and empowered by

the Holy Spirit. As a Family of Faith that has an Attitude of Gratitude for the gifts God has given to us, we will share our time, our talent

and our treasure with each other. We welcome into our parish family all people, because we

believe that together we are the Body of Christ and together we can bring the love, peace,

forgiveness, healing, and joy of Christ into our community in ways we never could have if we were to remain apart. May all who meet us, who worship with us, who work and play with

us, know we are Christians by our love!
