It is an overview of the Madina Village School Project from its beginning through the first year of classes.

Education has declined drastically in the recent past.
1,270 primary schools were destroyed in the civil war from 1992-2001.
Sixty-seven percent of children were out of school in 2001.
Two-thirds of the adult population is illiterate.
