2021 Bethel Park Season

Greetings Bethel Park Family … Here we are in 2021, looking forward to our camp season, although it is still a modified version. After not being able to hold services last year, I think we are all ready, and looking forward to enjoying a camp experience once again. You will note throughout the newsletter that the provincial and local COVID guidelines are in place at any given time and will be adhered to, and we ask everyone to be respectful of them. We are grateful to our many volunteers and our students that have worked tirelessly to get the grounds ready for our camp season.

I would also like to thank Paul Mittelstaedt for his many years of service on the Board of Directors. We value Paul’s dedication to Bethel Park and are so grateful that he has agreed to be our speaker for the Monday to Thursday services during the week of Family Camp. Please extend your appreciation and your thanks to him when you see him at camp.

May God grant us wisdom and guide us as we move forward. Please be in prayer for this upcoming season.

Doris Bilitz, President

Bethel Park is pleased to introduce a “share” shack to facilitate the exchange of and repurposing of gently used cabin items no longer needed.

Often cabins are being upgraded, overhauled or just refreshed. Rather than items sitting exposed to weather damage before being discarded, items might be a blessing to another cabin owner. Items can be anything from kitchen utensils, appliances, décor, furniture, window coverings, linens, etc. All items must be in good and reusable condition at the discretion of the organizing committee. Items not accepted are the responsibility of the cabin owner to properly dispose.

The “share” shack can be used by cabin owners to either give or receive items. Let us bless one another! Although there is no cost for the items, a donation can be made to Bethel Park in the secure donation box.

Hours of Operation: Saturdays from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm

Location: Dorm #4

By Appointment: Contact Evelyn Spadzinski at 905-708-2583

Items will ONLY be accepted during hours of operation or by appointment.

DO NOT JUST LEAVE ITEMS

A few notes from the

Treasury … 1. The offering on Sunday morning of July 25

and August 1 will go to the Waste Management and Water Project unless the Bethel Park offering envelope shows an offering amount in two places.

2. The 2021 cabin taxes and fees are due Sunday, July 25. A treasury representative will be in the office at Bethel Park between 2 - 3 pm that day. Remember, if you are coming to the office to pay your fees, a mask is required.

3. A reminder to those cabin owners who paid their 2021 cabin taxes and fees by e-transfer – please send in your completed yellow form to [email protected] if you have not already done so.

Cabin Numbers It is important that all cabins have their assigned number posted on the front of their cabins. This is important for emergencies or if someone is looking to find you. If your cabin does not have a number on it currently, please do so as soon as possible. All cabins must be numbered by the end of July 2021. In August Bethel Park will be placing numbers on all unnumbered cabins.

Bike Helmets Wearing a bike helmet in Ontario is compulsory for those under the age of 18. It is also a requirement of our Bethel

Park Insurance Company. Please ensure your children have a proper fitting helmet when they bike at Bethel Park.

Electric Cooking Stoves Please be advised, that the electrical system at camp was not designed to include electrical stoves in the individual cabins. The demand factor is too great for our system. Because of this, we request that cabin owners do not purchase and hook up electric stoves in their cabins. Please keep this in mind when you are renovating or looking to replace an existing stove.

Wood Burning Stoves For fire safety, cabins are not permitted to have wood burning stoves in their cabins.

Campfires Campfires are allowed in the designated campfire pit only and must be strictly supervised. There must

always be immediate access to a fire extinguisher or water. Permission to use the fire pit must be granted by the Director of Facilities or designate.

Provincial and local regulations with regards to fire bans will be strictly adhered to. The Director of Facilities or designate has the right to withdraw permission for any reason that may present a safety issue. Cabin Owners must notify the office if they currently have a chiminea or other type of outdoor fireplace. These outdoor appliances must be enclosed and located so as not to damage any buildings, hydro poles or trees. Proposed location of a new outdoor appliance must be reviewed with the Director of Facilities prior to use. All provincial and local regulations and fire bans must be observed. The Director of Facilities or designate reserves the right to ask a cabin owner to remove the appliance if it is thought to be unsafe.

Property Property is owned by Bethel Park Bible Camp Society. Cottage owners own their cottage or trailer, but not the property it is located on. Prior to any contemplated cottage renovation (decks, sheds, additions etc.), detailed plans must be submitted to the Office. The Office will direct the request to the Director of Facilities for approval. The County has allocated specific square footage and building restrictions, and as such a building permit may be required for the renovation. … Do not take independent action. If in doubt, refer questions to the Office for clarification prior to making changes.
