I hope this newsletter finds you all well. I was lucky enough to spend time with many of you while attending the amazing conference put on by Roger Pen-nell in Overland Park, Kansas, and I truly missed those of you who were not in able to be there! The conference was very well planned and ran smoothly, the competitions were well attended and the speakers were great! Having re-cently organized the National Conference back in 2013, I know just how much dedication and hard work goes into planning this large scale event and would like to applaud Roger and GED for pulling it off.
I hope all of you will be attending our next National Conference in Nashville, Tennessee at the Sheraton Music City Hotel March 22-25, 2015. I have never been to Nashville, but from what I hear, this is one you do not want to miss! The hotel is beautiful and there is so much to do; and with a theme like “The Talking Dead” I’m sure the speakers will not disappoint! Please do not forget to apply for the Pincomb and McGrath Awards if you are hoping to attend the National Conference. The Pincomb Award is given to one professional member and the McGrath Award is given to one student member. I know I don’t have any extra money lying around and I’m sure you don’t either, so why not fill out an application and have the chance to get your registration fee paid for?! Some years we receive no applications, so please get these in sooner rather than later. They are due on December 1st each year and the forms can be found on the National Website: www.acjalae.org.
I hope to see you in Ferrum Virginia for our next meeting at the Regional Conference where we will be holding Region IV Execu-tive Board Elections for all positions.
As always I would like to remind you- just because you gradu-ate college does not mean your time with ACJA is over, you can remain a member and become a member at large, join a professional chapter or start your own! Please email me if you have any questions at all about your chapter, the organization, conferences, anything! I am here for YOU.
Take care and stay safe my LAE brothers and sisters.

Hello everyone!
I hope that you are all having a good year. It’s hard to believe we are already approaching the end of 2014.
It was nice seeing everyone at the national conference in Overland Park. I hope that those of you who were able to attend enjoyed the conference.
I hope to see you all at the upcoming regional conference in Ferrum, Virginia. Delta Xi Omega has been working hard to provide an awesome conference.
Congratulations to all of you who have graduated in the last few months. I hope that you will all continue to stay involved in the organization. Become a member at large or look into joining a professional chapter. If you’re looking for a professional chapter, I’ve heard COPS is a pretty good chapter :)

Chapter News
Chi Omega Pi Sigma has had a great year!
We recently held our annual BBQ and Business meeting at Mykola Duffy’s beautiful home and were blessed to celebrate the 10th birthday of COPS! I really can’t believe our chapter is celebrating 10 years. Where did the time go? We have become such a close knit family and seen each other through new jobs, graduations, moves, weddings and the births of many children. We have organized fundraisers, attended conferences, and networked in the criminal justice field. We have met each other through this association from all corners of the United States and become a family; and even though many members of our COPS family are spread throughout the region, the country and sometimes the world, we always manage to keep in touch and pick up right where we left off. Our members have all sorts of exciting news to report: Officer Danielle Follosco with the Aberdeen Police Dept recently finished a hostage negotiator course and hopes to be joining the SWAT team soon. Members Todd Istenes and Amanda Morgan will wed this fall and Amanda Morgan wed her groom this past spring. Ryan Wilkins is serving a deployment to Bahrain with the Navy while his wife and fellow COPS member Ashley Wilkins has moved their children from San Diego to the east coast while they await permanent orders. This fall we accepted two new members who recently graduated from the University of New Haven: welcome Jennifer Hawkins and Marissa Boyle! We look forward to Jennifer and Marissa joining our family and making many memories with them in the years to come. We are always accepting new members and would love to have you. If you are interested in joining our close knit, dysfunctional family, please email President Nicci Young at [email protected].
Stay safe and we hope to see you in Ferrum!

The event that we would like for you to know about is our
community service event that we do every semester. The
brotherhood travels to this one road in our town and we
pick up all the trash. This is our community service that
we do right before our initiation. Our potential brothers are
included in this event. We do this event not only to get our
community service in but also to make that one road in
our town look better, which makes our town look better.
This picture is of our fraternity after we were finished
picking up the road.

On September 6, 2014, the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), in partnership with the Hampton Roads Survivors of Suicide Support Group, sponsored their ninth Out of the Darkness Community Walk at Mount Trashmore in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The September 6th walk was one of over 300 AFSP Walks across the country to bring the disease of depression and the tragedy of suicide into the light; to remember loved ones; and to raise money for AFSP for suicide prevention through research, education and treatment programs.
Approximately 6,500 – 7,000 people registered for the walk, It is estimated that this was the largest Out of the Darkness Community Walk for the sixth year in a row. The members of the newly chartered Alpha Alpha Alpha chapter of the American Criminal Justice Association-Lambda Alpha Epsilon were among this vast number of civilian and military community members walking and donating money for this worthy cause.
