WHO: Speakers and representatives from the California State Library, San Francisco Public Library and more.

WHAT: Celebrate the release of JobScout’s new iOS app and COMPASS, the client analytics dashboard. JobScout will make announcements regarding a forthcoming Spanish language platform, both online and mobile.

WHEN: January 29th, 2013, 3:00 – 4:30 p.m.

In the birthplace of the World Wide Web, one in five Americans, or 60 million people, still do not know how to properly and effectively use the Internet. JobScout teaches the essential Internet skills needed to find a job in today's online marketplace by putting a variety of tools at jobseekers’ disposal and closing the digital divide that separates much of the country from finding work.

JobScout is designed to engage users in a fully guided process of learning everything about navigating the Internet. The platform offers over 30 interactive lessons ranging from browsers and email to social media, online security and finding work online. The platform also provides a ResumeBuilder allowing users to create fill-in-the-blank resumes, a customized job search function and the ability to apply and manage job applications directly from the site.

To address the rapidly climbing number of mobile users, specifically those unemployed or without regular broadband Internet access, JobScout is releasing its iOS application, a mobile counterpart to its online platform that gives users the ability to take lessons in Internet literacy, create a formatted resume, and search and apply for jobs right from their phone. The launch will also feature an opportunity for jobseekers to learn how to use the online platform as well as the mobile application.

With COMPASS, the product’s new backend analytics page, clients will now be able to better understand patron usage and general statistics with a visually dynamic and informative dashboard.

JobScout's Chief Operating Officer Stephanie Margossian sums up the role of JobScout in our economic recovery and future best: "This is not about fitting people into our old economy. It's about preparing them for our new one."
