Why do we need jobs?• Jobs are very important in our world

because jobs pay us for what we do! Money helps us pay for all the things we need. Like food, water, clothes, our homes, and the beds we sleep in!

There are lots of jobs that you can have. But I know of some really

special ones! Do you know why they are so special? They are special

because they help us! How do they help us you ask? Well let’s take a look!

What kind of jobs are there?

• A policeman makes sure we are following the rules and keeps us safe from harm by making sure the rules are followed!

You could be a policeman!

You could be a fireman!

• A fireman helps keep things from catching on fire! Fire is hot and can destroy a lot of things if it spreads! Firemen put out the fires with their water hoses! They keep us, our families, our things, and our neighborhood safe!

You could be a doctor!• Doctor’s help take care of us when

we get hurt or sick! They can help us by giving us medicine, or shots to make us better! I like feeling healthy and strong! Doctor’s have a very special job!

You could be a Veterinarian!

• Another kind of doctor you can be is the kind that takes care of animals! This doctor is called a veterinarian. They are very much like the doctors we see but instead of taking care of us and making us better they take care of our pets when they are sick or hurt.

You could be a dentist!

• Oh and we can’t forget about another type of doctors that helps us! The Dentist is also a doctor! He helps take care of us by keeping our teeth and gums clean! Without Dentists we might get cavities! Ouch!

You could be a garbage man!• The garbage man has a very important and special

job! He takes care of us and our neighborhoods by picking up all the trash we have and taking it to the place where trash goes, The Dump! He helps to keep our neighborhood clean so we can play outside!

You could be a mailman!

• A job that helps us talk to each other through letters is the mailman! He delivers all the letters that we send to our friends and family! His job is very important because not only does he deliver letters but sometimes he delivers packages with presents inside too!

You could be a teacher!

• A teacher’s job is important because they teach us all the things we need to know! Like math, science and social studies! But most of all they teach us how to read books like this one! Without teachers we won’t know what we need to do get jobs like the ones in this book!

Wow there sure are a lot of jobs out there that help make our world a better place and

these are just a few!
