AUTHENTIC LEARNING

8th Grade Creative Writing

Student engagement, working with "their-world" tools, authentic and individualized. It's about kids having access to knowledge and the ability to manipulate it.

8th Grade Creative Writing - iPads"It's a creation device and we create with it. We write with it. We create podcasts on it. We create posters which synthesizes imagery with writing. We research and analyze."

"And it's not about magic apps. It's about kids having access to knowledge and the ability to manipulate it."

"For my class, when they come in and the iPads are out they immediately pick them up on their own and go to the blog. They write."

FEEDBACK

"Students are writing on the iPads during the day...and then returning to it on their own at night."

"Students are writing more. I can measure that. They are writing more independently. I can measure that. They are engaging with each other's writing. I can measure that."

"It's not about any magical apps--it's still about writing and about access."
