Today’s Game: JMU at Northeastern | Fri., Oct. 7 | 6 p.m. All-Time Series: JMU leads 10-6-0 Largest Win by JMU: 5 (5-0) - Oct. 31, 2008 at JMU Largest Win by NU: 3 (4-1) - Sept. 12, 1998 at JMU Home: 4-2-0 || Away: 3-3-0 || Neutral: 3-1-0 Last Five: JMU leads 3-2 Last Time: JMU won 3-1 in Harrisonburg on Oct. 11, 2015 JMU has won the last two meetings. The Dukes’ last trip to Dedham Field was for the 2014 CAA tournament. Seeded fourth, JMU upset top-seeded No. 18 Northeastern 3-0 in the semifinal round. The last regular-season meeting in Boston was a 1-0 loss for JMU (Oct. 31, 2014). Series: Dukes vs. Huskies LAST TIME OUT A staunch defense and a pressing attack led No. 19 James Madison field hockey to its first shutout of the year with a 12-0 win against Towson in Colonial Athletic Association play. JMU (7-3, 1-1 CAA) kept Towson (2-9, 0-2 CAA) off the board in shots (50-0), corner attempts (14- 0) and goals (12-0). The Dukes peppered the Tiger goalkeepers with 31 shots-on-goal. GETTING RIGG-Y WITH IT Sophomore forward Miranda Rigg has scored at least three goals in three games this season, including a career-high four goals against owson on Oct. 2. This was the first time a Duke scored four goals in a game since Tori Lindsey posted four at Delaware on Sept. 26, 2010. Rigg leads the league in goals per game (1.20), which ranks fifth nationally. NOT BACKING DOWN JMU started the season with six nationally-ranked teams on the schedule, and the Dukes’ win over No. 13 Liberty on Aug. 26 marked the second straight season JMU won its home opener against a ranked opponent. The Dukes defeated then-No. 17 Iowa in the 2015 home opener. Their win at then-No. 13 ODU marked their third over a top-15 opponent in 11 months. JMU has two more opportunities to make a national splash with Louisville (7) and irginia (14) still on the schedule. SPREADING THE WEALTH This season, 11 Dukes have tallied a goal and nine have assisted on at least one goal. YOUTH MOVEMENT JMU has no seniors in the 2016 lineup and lost both the CAA Player of the Year and CAA Defen- sive Player of the Year to graduation. With just four juniors, the Dukes boast 11 freshmen and seven sophomores, including the reigning CAA Rookie of the Year (Melissa Wilken).
