All students at James Bowie Elementary school are held to lofty academic, behavioral, and social standards.  Students are regularly encouraged to achieve set behavioralexpectations by the use of positive reinforcement tactics.  Some of these include:  positive behavior parties (each six weeks), daily gotcha coupons (drawn weekly forprizes), perfect attendance parties, and regular daily verbal/written directives (positive and negative reinforcement) based on group and individual behavior.  Through theseefforts and others, we are able to ensure that our campus climate and culture are constantly raised to the maximum.

James Bowie Elementary school strives to recruit, hire and train classroom teachers so that our students' educational experiences can be positive ones.  Staff membersmeet regularly with campus and district administrative teams across grade and subject levels so that everyone can stay on the same page, strategically speaking.  By doingtoo, an open line of communication from campus administration to teachers, and furthermore from teachers to students, can be fluid, clear, and effective.

Instructional methods at James Bowie Elementary School are constantly monitored and updated so that our students can receive instruction in a manner that would equipthem with 21st Century Learning Skills that are necessary for age-appropriate growth and development.  Student engagement is priority #1 on our campus.  Instructionalstrategies are centered around such, and are regularly implemented across grade and subject levels alike.

Parents are able to stay abreast of individual student academic progress via our Parent Portal.  Also, our parents and community members areencouraged to subscribe to Living Tree, a school social media service that provides insightful and up-to-date information and photographs.

We have several committees comprised of various staff, campus, district, and community members.  Each of these committees are chaired specifically with individuals whoare task-oriented and able to contribute for the greater good of our campus and school-community.  Some of these include:  district site-based committee, campussite-based committee, school safety council, emergency response team, as well as others.

Some of the technological tools our teachers are equipped with include:  Mimio Smart Boards, MacBook notebooks, iPad Minis, Echo Smart Pens, Elmos,  Apple TV, andsets of classroom projectors.  Students are provided with:  classroom sets of iPad Minis, access to a MacBook Mobile Lab, Osmos, as well as others.  Teachers areprovided with learning opportunities, training, and workshops enhanced to increase/maximize the use of technology in the classroom.  Fostering the 21st Centry skills viathe use of technology, day in and day out, is a key component to our campus mission.
