The national motor roads Н-09, Н-10, Н-18 go through the territory of the region. They are connected to the European route E50, which goes through the region in the north, and merge with the routes E40 (Venice–Kyiv) and E85 (Baltic Sea – Black Sea).
The total length of rail roads is 495.6 kilometres. There are 35 railway stations in the region. Railway network density is 35.5 kilometres per 1,000 square kilometres. Major railway junctions are Ivano-Frankivsk Kalush and Kolomyia.
There is the International Airport “Ivano-Frankivsk” in the region centre. The airport has the capacity of 120 people per hour and which accommodates all types of aircraft. More than 110 thousand passengers flew through the airport during the year.
More than 100 million passengers are transported by all means of transport annually.

The network of public motorways of state and local importance covers the total length of 4,117.9 kilometres, including 1,000.4 kilometres of state importance roads and 3,117.5 of local importance roads.
Out of the total economically active population 613.7 thousand people:565.8 thousand – employed, 47.9 thousand – unemployed. The rate of unemployment among employable residents, calculated according to the methodology of the International Labour Organization, was 7.8% as of January 1, 2019.

INDUSTRY is one of key sectors of the region’s economy. It accounts for 2.0 % of the gross value added generated by the Ukrainian industry.
Industrial enterprises employing about 43,000 people, which is 22.4% of all employed residents of the region, in 2018 sold products worth UAH 75.1 billion or 2.5% of the total amount of goods realized by Ukrainian industry.
Electricity production of renewable energy facilities accounts for 1.7 % of the total amount of electricity produced in the region. This volume covers 10% of the energy consumption by the region’s population.
Also today, more than 1,100 private households have connected to the electric networks of JSC Prykarpattiaoblenergo (4th place among the regions in the number of installed solar power stations and 3rd place in the capacity of installed solar power stations). Their total capacity is about 27 MW.

Main production facilities of the machine manufacturing industry are located primarily in Ivano-Frankivsk, Kalush and Kolomyia.
The State enterprise "Production Association "Karpaty" produces cabling and wiring products, electrical products, solid fuel boilers, radio technical products, streetlights. During 2018-2019 the company started the investment project for production of electrical cables for Skoda motor cars.
On September, 29 2017, the German company “Leoni AG” officially opened a plant producing cable networks for leading automobile brands. In 2017-2019, three stages of the plant were built. The total investments amounted to EUR 16 million. The company employs about 1,500 employees.
A wide range of Zanussi and Electrolux automatic washing machines are manufactured by the LLC “Electrolux Ukraine”. They are sold in Ukraine, Eastern Europe and Baltic countries.
MACHINE INDUSTRY
The major products of the wood processing industry include chipboard and fibreboard, sawn timber, wooden containers, joinery products, jointed glued boards, parquetry, veneer sheets, paper bags, envelopes, etc.
The separated division of the LLC “Swiss Krono” is one of the largest producers of chipboard and decorative parquet (laminating film).
Uniplyt LLC is an industry leader in the production of fibreboard, plywood and sawn timber. The company exports its products to more than 20 countries.
CBM “Osmoloda” Ltd, Nadvirna Subsidiary of Swisspan Limited, LLC “Viva Décor”, LLC “Solid Ukraine”, Private Enterprise “Syvulia” and other companies are famous wood processing enterprises.
WOOD PROCESSING INDUSTRY

Chemical industry enterprises produce heavy organic synthesis products, urea-formaldehyde resin, aerosil (silica), fine chemicals, household chemicals, etc.
The only producer of ethylene, propylene, petrobenzene, membrane caustic soda, as well as polymeric products, such as polyethylene and suspension polyvinyl chloride is LLC “Karpatnaftokhim”. The company employs more than 2,500 people and has implemented a number of cost-effective projects.
Padana Chemical Compounds LLC is one of the leading producers of a wide range of cable and PVC plasticizers and rigid compounds. The company opened a new modern technological line dedicated to production of innovative import substituting products – raw materials for medical applications.
At Kalush pipe plant LLC an innovative infrared method of forming a bell was implemented which allowed to halve the use of electricity and increase productivity.
CHEMICAL INDUSTRY
Enterprises of the industry manufacture carpet (tufting) flooring, textile and fur clothing, working clothes, bedclothes, leather, and tents for motor cars:

The agricultural industry is an important strategic sector of the region’s economy. The availavle land of the region is 1392.7 thousand ha, of which 630.5 thousand ha are occupied by agricultural land, including 397.2 thousand ha of arable land.
In general, 861 agricultural enterprises, of which 544 farms and almost 260 thousand private farms, work in the agricultural sector of Ivano-Frankivsk region.
Agricultural products, worth UAH 6.1 billion (UAH 3 billion per crop farming and cattle breeding) are produced in the agricultural sector of the region. In terms of production per 100 ha of agricultural land, the region occupies a leading position among the regions of Ukraine.
The largest agricultural enterprise in the Carpathian region is Goodvalley Ukraine LLC, which is active in the field of pig breeding, grain and industrial crops and renewable energy.
AGRICULTURE
The construction industry plays an important role in the formation of the economic potential of the region. The Ivano-Frankivsk region ranks among leading regions in Ukraine according to the total space of commissioned residential buildings per person.There is sufficient capacity to manufacture products and construction materials needed for building companies of the oblast, such as ceramic bricks (220 million standard units), concrete and ferro-concrete constructions (233,000 cubic meters), joinery products made of wood (more than 14,000 square meters) and polymeric materials (43,000 pieces), non-metallic construction materials (more than 1.1 million cubic meters), cement (2 million tons), ceramic and facing tiles (over 3 million square meters), wooden parquet (365,000 square meters), linoleum (5 million square meters), slaked lime (43,000 tons), gypsum (30,000 tons), dry building mixes (4,000 tons), concrete grouts (456,000 tons), wallpapers (12,000 tons), slates (112 million standard units).
The leading manufacturer of building products is the PJSC “Ivano-Frankivsk Cement”, which is one of the largest cement producers in Ukraine. The company uses innovative, energy efficient and environmentally friendly technologies for production of cement using dry process technology.
CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY
ECONOMIC POTENTIAL
IT sector employs more than 2,000 specialists, working for around 50 companies, most of which are outsourcers.There are the IT-Cluster and a regional branch of 1991 Open Data Incubator in Ivano-Frankivsk.The Ivano-Frankivsk IT-Cluster is a voluntary, independent, non-profit, non-governmental organization, which unites the IT professionals of Ivano-Frankivsk and is designed to develop a competitive national information technology industry in the city. The sector of small and medium-sized enterprises of the region employs 175,600 people. Medium and small enterprises make up to 99.9% of all economically active enterprises of the region. The number of small enterprises per 10,000 residents is 58 entities
and the number of medium-sized ones is 2 entities.
The region has a well-developed infrastructure to support small and medium-sized enterprises, public organizations of business entities. 24 administrative service centers, 16 taxpayer service centers have been functioning effectively. The development of business is facilitated by the introduction of various innovative technologies: e-services at administrative service centers, the electronic reporting system in the bodies of state statistics and state tax service.

TOURISM
Ivano-Frankivsk region is one of the leading tourism and recreation regions of Ukraine with a significant number of cultural heritage sites, natural areas, developed infrastructure and transport network.
Tourism infrastructure includes approximately 500 tourist and recreational centers, 800 rural green tourism estates; more than 200 subjects of tourist activities, 36 of which have tour operator license, 8 Tourist Information Centres.
In the Carpathians there are 10 ski centers, 10 natural resort areas, more than 3.5 thousand monuments of historical and cultural heritage. Such ancient and valuable monuments as the Church of St. Panteleimon in Halych (12th century), Maniava Skete (17th century). Wooden Hutsul and Boiko churches are known outside the country.

On the territory of the region there are the National Reserve “Ancient Halych”, Ivano-Frankivsk National Academic Hutsul Song and Dance Ensemble “Hutsulia” and a branch of the National Military History Museum of Ukraine – the Museum of Heroes of the Dnieper.

In 2018 the volume of export and import of goods of the region increased by 31.0% and 29.8% accordingly compared with 2017 and totaled USD 871.4 and 834.0 million.

Enterprises of the region introduced 20 new technological processes and started production of 55 innovative types of products in order to improve the technical and technological level of manufacture.
Total expenditures for introduction of innovations amounted to UAH 146.2 million.
The infrastructure, designed to support innovation, is composed of about 20 participants. They primarily include branches of higher education institutions of the region, scientific and research institutes, research-and-production companies, NGOs and other entities.Important components are the innovative center "Promprylad. Renovation", scientific city “New Energy”, Scientific Park “Precarpathian University”, Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Organization of the Society of Inventors and Innovators of Ukraine.

INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION
Implementation of dozens of international technical assistance projects in the region resulted in introducing strategic approaches to planning territorial development, improved environment for small business and tourism, taking measures aimed at increasing energy efficiency, introducing energy-saving technologies, and improving the ecological situation.
In 2019, the region is implementing 29 projects of international technical assistance in the following areas: decentralization and regional development; development of the tourism industry; solution of environmental problems; modernization of heat supply; energy efficiency; economic development and trade; promotion of local culture and protection of historical heritage. The total amount of raised grant funds is about EUR 19 million.
Ivano-Frankivsk Region participates in 3 joint operational European Neighbourhood Instrument Cross-Border Cooperation Programmes 2014-2020 (hereinafter – the “ENI CBC Programmes”): “Hungary-Slovakia-Romania-Ukraine”, “Romania-Ukraine”, “Poland- Belarus-Ukraine”
.
28 enterprises which accounts for 21.2% of the surveyed industrial enterprises (the average value for Ukraine is 16.4%) were involved in innovation in the region.
International cooperation is actively developing in the region. Two-side agreements
about social, economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation are signed and
realized with regions of Poland, Lithuania, Romania, Canada and other countries.

Ivano-Frankivsk region has taken a leading position in the investment attractiveness rating of Ukrainian regions over recent years. The region ranks 5th in Ukraine according to the amount of foreign investment per resident
Investments came from non-residents from 52 countries internationally. High priority place in the investment into the economy of Ivano-Frankivsk region belongs to the countries of European Union. USD 812.3 million (92% of the total share capital) was invested by EU countries, USD 70.3 million (8%) – by other countries.
A number of new production capacities have been recently constructed or technologically updated in the region as a result of successful cooperation with foreign investors: production of automatic washing machines (LLC “Electrolux Ukraine”), production of parquetry and glued wooden boards (LLC “Solid Ukraine”), production of paper envelopes (LLC “Kuvert Ukraine”) in Ivano-Frankivsk; production of electric cables for motor cars (LLC “LEONI Wiring Systems UA GmbH”) in Kolomyia; production of chlorine and caustic soda, suspension polyvinyl chloride (LLC “Karpatnaftokhim”), production of tafting covering (LLC “Sintelon UA”), production of plastic pipes (LLC “Kalush Pipe Plant”), production of ferro-concrete structures (LLC “3 Betony”), production of linoleum (LLC “Tarkett Vinisin”), production of wallpapers (LLC “Viva Decor”) in Kalush; production of wire products based on a cold welding technology (LLC “Dana Metal Ukraine”) in Tysmenytsia district; production of laminated chipboard in Broshniv division of LLC “Swiss Krono”; operational commissioning of cattle-breeding complexes, grain storage elevators and a 1.1 MW biogas plant by LLC “Goodvalley Ukraine”, the solar power plant “Bohorodchanska-1” and many other facilities.

FOREIGN INVESTMENTS
The concept of airport development, that includes construction of a new artificial runway, reconstruction of the airport terminal, as well as installation of new navigation equipment and the construction of the control tower, has been elaborated. The planned investment is over USD 73 million (USD 45 million from the state budget).
The project implementation will allow the airport to operate flights of modern aircrafts type B-737-800/900 and A-320/321, that provides interest of large airlines and increases volumes of passengers and cargo transportation for the airport. After the successful implementation of the project, the airport can become a crossing point between Asia and Europe.
Project implementation provides restoration of the railway route over 60 km length to provide existing and newly created tourist routes and usage by big industrial enterprises of the region (12 enterprises operate on the narrow-gauge railway route).
Project of restoration of the narrow-gauge railway route considers the location of cultural, historical and natural attractions, technical possibilities and demand in providing transportation for businesses, locals and tourists.
The development of tourism will increase the competitiveness of railways, increase passenger flow, create new jobs for people involved in tourism business.

DEVELOPMENT OF IVANO-FRANKIVSK AIRPORT RESTORATION OF NARROW-GAUGE RAILWAY IN THE CARPATHIANS “BROSHNIV-OSADA – OSMOLODA”

Tourist recreation resort is planned to be built on the forestry fund lands (Bystrytsia village, Nadvirna district). A wide range of services with a variety of tour profiles for both summer and winter recreation and tourism will be implemented, which will allow to receive tourists all year round.
Area of the land plots for the resort – 1,200 ha.Total number of lifts– 25.Total number of holidaymakers – 18,000.Total number of beds – 15,000.Total length of ski trails – 170 km.Total number of jobs at the resort – 5,000.
The project provides the construction of a modern hotel and administrative complex on the highway of national importance Lviv - Ivano-Frankivsk.
The construction of the complex will contribute to the expansion of the tourist infrastructure of Halych area and National Reserve "Ancient Halych". The complex is designed to accommodate 100 people in hotel rooms. The complex includes a restaurant for 240 seats and a dining room for 70 seats. In addition, the project will include a swimming pool with adjacent blocks of two saunas, a souvenir shops.
The architectural design of the complex is stylized as a medieval castle, which due to the close location to the historical monuments of Halych will be well placed in the context of popularization of Halych cultural heritage.

The project provides a construction of a modern biathlon complex of the IBU level (International Biathlon Union) that will enable to hold the international competitions of the highest level on the territory of Polianytsia village council. It is planned to build a stadium, ski tracks, shooting range and administrative facility.
Area of the planning territory – 12.2271 hectares.Area of the territory for the formation of infrastructure of the modern biathlon complex within the planning territory – 8.4408 hectares.Building area – 3345 m².
The project is aimed at the development of nature protected area along the Dniester River in order to create a quality tourism product, the development of tourist facilities, increasing number of tourists in the region.
The implementation of the project involves the preparation of a project of land management to determine the boundaries of the Dniester RLP (area of 5,200 ha), the establishment of the Ecological-educational visit center, the Culture and Tourism Center of Pokuttya, Training Center for paragliding and hang gliding, a network of accommodation establishments - glamping on the bank of the Dniester River.

Industrial park “Dolyna” was the first in Ukraine to enter the Register of Industrial Parks on February 3, 2014. The purpose of the industrial park is to create mechanisms to effectively meet the demands of investors for sites prepared for the location of industry, logistics and related services.The priority areas for determining the functional purpose of the industrial park are light, food, woodworking and automotive industries. It is planned to create 2030 jobs.
The creation of the industrial park "Burshtyn" with the area of 20.5 hectares was initiated. Land management project of the plot is elaborated. UAH 243.2 thousand has already been financed by the city budget for arrangement of the industrial park. Development of engineering infrastructure of the land plot for industrial park has been included in Burshtyn Development Strategy for 2016-2020.Kalush and Kolomyia cities work on establishment of industrial parks, in particular:
Kolomyia City Council developed and approved the concept of the industrial park “Kolomyia”. The council works on determining the land plot for the industrial park.
The concept of the industrial park “Kalush” was approved by the resolution of the Kalush City Council № 1944 as of June 6, 2013. The council plans to find potential investors to establish large enterprises of innovative industries on the territory of 18 hectares.
The creation of industrial park “Arkan” (Arkan. Precarpathian Industrial Park) with the area of 19.3 hectares (brownfield type) was initiated in the city of Ivano-Frankivsk, which was created in the existing industrial zone of the city. The territory includes 62 thousand m² of production facilities, 12.8 thousand m² of administrative and office facilities, 9 thousand m² of auxiliary facilities.The industrial park is located within the city on the territory of PJSC "Ivano-Frankivsk Armature Plant" (plant area was optimized and it continues operational activity) with available engineering infrastructure, including electrical substation with the capacity of 25 MW, water supply, sewerage, gas distribution station.

"Promprylad.Renovation" is the transformation project of the old plant in the center of Ivano-Frankivsk into the territory of interaction between people, business, educational, cultural and social initiatives. Promprylad does not have a single investor. Anyone can join and become co-owner of the “territory of the future”.
The project anticipates renovation of 28 thousand m² of space in the existing buildings and construction of two new facilities covering 10 thousand m². Within five years the project is planning to attract USD 30 million investments from private investors and organizations in order to gradually launch six facilities and a park. The renovated space will host: offices, laboratories, workshops, exhibition and entertainment centers, hotel and hostel, farmers market, restaurants and many others.
"Promprylad.Renovation" is the multifunctional commercial property focused on operating income. Annual net operating income of the project amounts to USD 3.2 million. Rate of return after the reconstruction was determined at the level of 10-12% annually.
Currently the project attracted USD 3.3 million and 5,800 m² of the plant renovated. 21 international and Ukrainian organizations as well as 150 private investors have already joined the project.
