West Pasco

Together, we have all made a difference at these fine local Mom & Pop businesses:

They usually strike in the morning. They gather secretly in an effort to surprise their prey. Then, BAM! Another local business owner is brought to tears from the results of the attack. Only, these tears are ones of joy rather than sadness!

This scenario repeats itself throughout small towns all across America, as “Cash Mobs” flood pre-determined local businesses with shoppers prepared to purchase their products or services. West Pasco County is the home of its own Cash Mob. “Mobbers” eagerly wait to find out which local business will be the lucky recipient of their patronage!

The local Cash Mob was established by Debbie Dawson, Founder & Publisher of It’s Your Home Magazine, a community lifestyle magazine in West Pasco & North Pinellas Counties, and Realtor with Remax. Her partner in Cash Mobbing is Valerie Wilson Napoli, Remax Realtor, and Advertising & Marketing Consultant for the magazine. They both share a passion for community and do what they can to help, support and promote local businesses.

Debbie, Valerie and their loyal Cash Mobbers, understand small businesses are the roots in a community. Like many small businesses around the country, Mom & Pop shops in West Pasco have experienced significant challenges during the slumping economy, even to the point of facing closure.

“I just don’t want to see someone’s dream go down the drain. They worked hard for so many years, and their business is their passion. They put their blood, sweat and tears into their business to make it work. I don’t want to see them go under because of some Walmart or other big chain,” Valerie explains.

“Home is where the heart is, and our independent businesses are the heartbeat,” Debbie adds.

Here’s how the Cash Mob works:Each month, a message is posted on the IYH Magazine blog, and various Facebook pages, to invite friends to meet at a certain location to be announced. Mobbers meet with $10-20, designated to be spent at the secret location. Local businesses having benefited from this outpouring of patronage include Judy’s Cards & Gifts, Mom & Daughter Consignment, and Karen’s Gifts in New Port Richey, and DeLuca’s Fine Jewelry, Paw Wash Plus, Katelyn’s Kloset, Jay’s Sports Cave, Flip-It Toner and Turtle’s Nest in Trinity. Cash Mob West Pasco has generated more than $11,000 for the small businesses and restaurants “HIT”!

Following the Cash Mob invasion, a celebration of sorts, combined with a networking opportunity, is held at a nearby restaurant. This serves as wave two in the Cash Mob experience! Participants can enjoy a refreshing beverage, enjoy lunch and build relationships with people who care about other people and their success! During this time, the next potential Cash Mob Victim is voted upon, with the location to be divulged and the parking lot to be named later! Some of the restaurants reaping the rewards of the Cash Mob after-party are Carmelita’s Mexican Restaurant, Havana Dreamer’s Café, Boulevard Beef and Ale, Alpha Pizza, The Stadium Restaurant, and Crisper’s.

The entire community is invited to participate in this amazing effort to keep our Mom & Pop Shops thriving! Join It’s Your Home Magazine, the proud sponsor of Cash Mob West Pasco to support the next deserving local businesses. Look for us on Facebook, or call 727-709-9541, for more information.

Kim & John Crane of Paw Wash Plus, the “Paw”fect CoupleTrinity’s complete pet day spa is at Paw Wash Plus. This spa haven for pups is family-owned and operated by Kim & John Crane, who got into the business because of their love of animals. They understand--first-hand--how people view their pets as their “furry family” members. They truly enjoy the happiness and satisfaction their services bring to their customers…and their customers’ pets! Their love of community--especially the family-friendly, Trinity community--is why they have been so well-received and successful. Paw Wash Plus supports animal rescue groups like SPCA.

Kim explains, “We love working with the local rescue groups and helping raise funds for pets in need. These organizations are very involved and dedicated to their causes.” The Cranes offer free services and special discount prices at Paw Wash Plus for recently adopted pets from the SPCA Suncoast and Labrador Rescue.

The first self-service pet wash in Pasco County, Paw Wash Plus offers a walk-in, self-service dog wash which is nothing shy of outstanding. Paw Wash Plus supplies everything you need to wash your own dog. Kim says, “The self-service wash is a great alternative to grooming. It’s not only a fun way to bond with your pet, but it’s an inexpensive way to maintain your pet’s hygiene.”

Paw Wash Plus also offers full-service pet washes and professional in-store grooming, seven days a week. You

can schedule an appointment with one of the “pet stylists” for your pooch, and they will take care of everything for you. From a wash and dry, to a full-service professional grooming, it’s all just a day at the spa for your canine companion. The professional team of pet stylists at Paw Wash Plus are just that: professional. “All of our pet stylists are wonderful in their craft and make sure all of their customers are completely satisfied,” Kim boasts.

Paw Wash Plus also offers professional in-store and mobile grooming, seven days a week. Options such as teeth brushing, pawdicures, special holiday scents and blueberry facials, which is a customer favorite, are all available for pet owners who want to spoil & pamper their pet!

This doggie heaven is also full of anything you could possibly need for your furry friends, including all-natural, healthy pet foods, supplements, hygiene, pet meds and flea control. The friendly and knowledgeable staff can also do an assessment of your treats, and provide options for collars, toys and many other unique goodies. All of this variety is in one location for your convenience. The specialized bakery in-house carries a variety of different goodies both, regular and seasonal, fresh and healthy treats for your pet. Not to mention, they can even prepare a birthday cake for your pooch’s special day! With all that they offer, it is clear to see why Paw Wash Plus is the premier destination for all of your canine-care and grooming needs!

Christmas Memories

The Holiday Season is here! Regardless of age, it transports us back to our childhood: tinsel on the tree, stockings hung by the fireplace, colorful packages wanting to be shaken, and traditional celebrations with faithful friends and relatives. For our children, this holiday is still being written upon their future memories which they will pass on to our grandchildren. Two years ago I was blessed with a beautiful granddaughter for Christmas. This year I anx-iously await the arrival of another precious gift, my grandson due Christmas time as well.

Christmas is a time to celebrate our family and to appreciate every loved one you have in your life. It is a time for giving. As a child I really don’t remember the gifts that were under the tree, I only remember the family gatherings and how much fun everyone had, giggling and laughing while enjoying each other’s company. So many of our family members are no longer with us and truly missed. There spirit is now a thankful memory.

The Holidays are a wonderful time to bring together family and friends from near and far. This holiday season take time to do some great family activities with your kids and grandkids (pg 17). Bake your favorite cookies that have been passed down from generation to generation. (pg 9). Spend quality time with your family, YOU are the gift they will remember most (pg 18).

Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a Healthy Happy New Year!

Taylor MADE IN WEST TAMPA BAY

books, art, culture

I find myself more reflective during the holidays. Time spent with family & friends is that much more special. Memories of holidays past bring smiles and laughter, sometimes hugs and tears.

I cherish those memories, but I choose to enthusiastically celebrate the New Year 2013! I resolve to march confidently toward each one of my goals, and rejoice in every success! I will be successful because I believe in myself.

Take my word for it; there have been many times in my life when I have not had such confidence. However, today, as I write these words, I am excited about my life, both personally and professionally, and I feel certain I am on the right road to success!

Recently, I was reading an article on the web by Jon Burgstone & Bill Murphy, Jr., which has sparked something within me: Believe – In YOU, 5 Easy Ways to Feel More Confident.

First and foremost, they say, you must believe in yourself. If that sounds like a challenge to you, then maybe their five ways to “train yourself to believe in your ultimate success,” will ignite a fire in you!

1. Develop relationships with others. By building a support system derived of peers and mentors who want you to succeed, you are on your way to boosting your confidence.

2. Manage fear proactively. If that sounds scary, it might be. However, you must bust out of your comfort zone to experience the excitement of overcoming your fear, by conquering it gradually, one step at a time, until it is as if it never existed.

3. Celebrate the positive. The authors describe an exercise to “develop a reservoir of confidence.” Take some time to write down all of the instances when you have been successful in your life, no matter the context. As you supply your “reservoir,” you will become more self-confident, and your attitude will certainly improve. A positive attitude is key to maneuvering life’s twists and turns!

4. Listen to people. Listening provides the opportunity to determine how we can be of service to others in even the smallest ways. Perhaps, just listening is enough.

5. Seek and find external validation. The more you move toward your goals, the more people will offer encouragement and support. Take it! Just make sure the sources of the validation are credible people you admire.

5 Smart and Easy Tips to Avoid Holiday Weight Gain By Melanie Milletics

SHELLAC

During the Holidays, most people give in to eating with abandon, and use the season as an excuse to overeat day after day - after all, it’s only once a year...

The average person will put on about 8 pounds over the Holidays - pounds that will linger and then get put onto the list for the "New Year’s Resolutions". People wake up on January 1st intent on getting the unhealthy and less than attractive pounds off once and for all. The gyms fill with people who are finally going to be all they are meant to be. They are going to get their sexy back!

The bad news? Most people NEVER take off the Holiday weight gain. People put on the pounds and then KEEP them. The average weight gain is 2 lbs a year.. that NEVER comes off! This equates to a larger and larger waistline as the years go on, and the typical 'middle aged spread'.

Who wants a 'spread' around their middle???

To avoid looking like Santa in your New Year’s Eve dress, follow these 5 smart tips to avoid Holiday Weight Gain:

1. Get enough sleep, drink water, and take time to chillax. When you are tired, dehydrated or stressed, you are much more likely to over eat.

2. Limit high calorie alcoholic drinks. Egg nog, pumpkin pie martinis, and decadent chocolate drinks are wonderful on the lips, and forever on the hips! Instead, stick to skinny cocktails, and be sure to have a sparkling water in between drinks to stay well hydrated. 3. Don’t starve and feast – and never skip breakfast. You are far more likely to overeat later because you are literally starving, resulting in weight gain.

4. Fill your party plate with veggies and protein, then have just a taste of everything else. If you take your time and eat the healthier choices first, then have just a little of the rich side dishes and desserts, you will enjoy yourself without piling on an excess of calories. 5. Don’t be too hard on yourself. Every day is a new chance to eat in moderation and avoid Holiday weight gain. Don’t go over the deep end, figuring you’ve already blown it with just one big party plate! Drink water and eat properly the next day, and you can minimize the effects.

Follow those tips, and you will avoid Holiday weight gain, so that your New Year’s Resolution list doesn’t have to include weight loss!

By Dr. Gerard Cappiello

A new year is upon us and like every year, we give ourselves a resolution to make our lives’ more fulfilling and enjoyable. Some people choose to stop a bad habit or pick up a good one, some want to make drastic changes to their lives whether it be through daily routine or through physical appearance.

At Rinnova Med-Surgical and Laser Institute at the Female Care Center, it is vital to us that you start your new year feeling fresh and renewed. It is becoming more and more common for women to consider plastic surgery as it becomes more readily available and more accepted.

Many women are uncomfortable about their appearance because it doesn’t match their youthfulness, personality or that certain spark that makes them who they are. So why should they let their body dictate how they appear?

At Rinnova Med-Surgical & Laser Institute, Dr. Gerard Cappiello has been changing and bettering the lives of women for decades, as he makes them look the way that they truly want to be seen through reconstructive and cosmetic surgeries. A complete professional, Dr. Cappiello makes sure to walk every patient through every step of the procedure, pre and post, to make sure that they are at their most comfortable and all of their inquiries are answered.

Maybe you’ve gone through the birth of a child and still don’t feel the same as you did pre-birth. Or maybe, you’ve gained a little weight over the last couple months or year and can’t manage to work it off. Whatever reason you have to want to change your looks, Dr. Cappiello is not there to judge, just to make sure that you look and feel satisfied and safe.

No matter your age, you deserve to look how you feel and Dr. Cappiello can help you make that reality. Not only can he take care of cosmetic surgeries, but he can also consult and operate to fix any existing pains, as well as performing all your basic gynecological services, all in an attempt to help you be happy with who you are and what you look like.

Treat yourself this New Year to a change that will be long-lasting and refreshing, giving you the look and feeling of a brand new person. Give Dr. Cappiello a call and take the next step towards a cost-efficient, life-changing and completely safe procedure. Start your New Year off with a new you.

It is that time of year again when we are thinking about gift giving? What to buy? Who to shop for? What’s their favorite perfume? Would they like a great handbag? Perhaps, trinkets…maybe gadgets? What about an I-pad, an I-pod, a puppy, a kitty, a new car, a new house…?

Whatever it is, we think can make our loved ones happy with material things. Once the grand present is revealed, it is inevitable that the newness and the novelty wear off post haste.

Why not make a present of yourself? It can be an everlasting present, remembered, and cherished every day, in every way, and delivered through a genuine act of kindness! Even in the smallest of ways, we can make a difference: a smile to a stranger, a tender hug to someone who needs one, sweet and encouraging words of inspiration, and the list goes on… Making a present of yourself, wrapped-up in love and caring, can go a long way to those who will be endlessly grateful for holidays to come! The best gift we can ever give is homage to those who have enriched our lives, in a way that enriches others!

Time is so precious, and it never seems like there is enough to go around. So, to make the best of the time we do have, we must make it TIME WELL SPENT!

Cherish each moment, live in the now, live for TODAY! Share quality time with family and friends, even just to “hang out,” as my kids say.

Before we know it, the New Year will be here, and then more holidays, more presents, etc. Remember when you make a present of yourself, and give to another, it comes back to you tenfold.

We wish the very best holidays for you and your family!

With much love, good health, happiness, and your best of the best of presents: YOU!

In gratitude always, Dennis Kelly & Barbara Marville-Kelly,Defy Aging, Inc.

Your Hometown Realtors

Welcome to Sunshine Upholstery, Terrence! When Terrence Bailey was a young boy in Lawrenceville GA, in a suburb just North of Atlanta, he learned about re-purposing goods from his Mother, who owned a flea market. He realized that things could be refurbished to sell for more money, or beautifully recycled for further use.

For 22 years, he has worked in various shops along his journey away from the flea market, and he has learned to perfect furniture upholstery, as well as automobile interior and headliner restoration.

“I have a passion for doing upholstery. It’s not like work to me,” Terrence confessed.

When he relocated to Florida this summer, he met Joe & Dean Pagano and joined the Sunshine Upholstery team.

“Terrence brings a new prospective to the business through his talent for automobile interior restoration,” Dean said.

“He was a Godsend,” Joe Pagano, owner of Sunshine Upholstery added. “He knows what he’s doing, and he’s doing great work here!”

Terrence smiled and said, “Joe & Dean are cool guys. We make a good team.”

To meet Terrence and receive a free estimate for their services, visit Sunshine Upholstery at 425 N Pinellas Ave, Tarpon Springs, or call 727-938-7466, for more information.

Comfort and Savings for a Lifetime!

With more buyers shopping for homes on the Web, photos and virtual tours are a must. There are many things you can do make your home shine on camera.

1. Understand the camera’s perspective. The camera’s eye is very different from the human eye. It magnifies clutter and poor furniture arrangement. To make a home shine in a virtual tour or video presentation, cater to the lens. 2. Make the home “Q-tip clean.” Because the camera magnifies grime, each room must be spotless. Don’t forget floor coverings and walls; a discolored spot on the rug might be overlooked by prospects during a regular home showing, but that stain becomes a focal point for online viewers. 3. Pack up the clutter. But leave three items of varying heights on each surface. For example, on an end table you can place a lamp (high), a small plant (medium), and a book (low). 4. Snap pictures. This will give you an idea of what the home will look like on camera. Closely examine the photos and list changes that would improve each room’s appearance: opening blinds to let in natural light, removing magnets from the refrigerator, or taking down distracting art.

5. Pare down furniture. Identify one or two pieces of furniture that can be removed from each room to make the space appear larger. 6. Rearrange. Spotlight the flow of a space by creating a focal point on the furthest wall from the doorway and arranging the other pieces of furniture to make a triangle shape. The focal point may be a bed in a bedroom or a china cabinet in a dining room. 7. Reaccessorize. Include a healthy plant in every room; the camera loves green. Energize bland decor by placing a bright vase on a mantle or draping an afghan over a couch. 8. Keep the home in shape. You want buyers who liked what they saw online to encounter the same home in person. Source: Barb Schwarz, www.StagedHomes.com, Concord, Pa.

Holiday Tipping Guide 2012Why You Shouldn’t Skip the Tip This Holiday Season

By Kristine Mamanta

Planning for the holidays can be hectic and time consuming. While the holiday season expresses a spirit of giving, holiday tipping may be difficult to manage in terms of who should be tipped and how much should be given. Over the past few years, consumers have set a tight budget on holiday tipping due to the nation’s frail economy. However, with a five-year high on consumer sentiment, recent labor reports, and a rise in contributions to 401(k)’s and rising house prices, a number of indicators show that the economy is steadily improving. As the nation gains a new sliver of hope in the economy, consumers are likely to be moved to spend more this year on holiday tipping. “People are more generous this year because when the economy gets better, people do better and tend to be happier around the holiday time,” said Jacqueline Whitmore, leading international etiquette expert and founder of the Protocol School of Palm Beach. “We’re probably going to see more people getting tips this year,” she said. “It may not be the same amount in years past, but there will be more of it.” Here are a few guidelines on easy, efficient, and affordable ways to holiday tip. Read ahead to see the full list of whom to tip and how much. Extracurricular Instructors Suggested Tip: Gift If you hire an extracurricular instructor, such as a private tutor, musical teacher, sport coach, or dance instructor, it is important to put some creative thought into their gifts. For example, for a dance instructor, search for their favorite music or a coffee table book about dance, said Jacqueline Whitmore, a leading international etiquette expert and founder of the Protocol School of Palm Beach. For a piano teacher, unique gifts like bookmarks made from ivory piano keys speak a more sentimental thanks than a cash tip, Whitmore said.

Landscaper/Gardener Suggested Tip: Cost of One VisitA landscaper should get the cost of one visit. If there is a team, consider giving $10 to $20 each depending on the service and relationship. Mail/Package Delivery Suggested Tip: Gift United States Post Office and Fedex workers are not allowed to accept cash. Consider a small gift, gift card, or home-baked treat worth less than $20. Nurses/Private Caregiver Suggested Tip: Gift or One Week’s Pay Some private home nurses may not be able to accept cash due to agency policies. If they are allowed to receive monetary gifts, give one week’s pay. For those who cannot accept cash, give a gift or a gift card worth as much as $50. In a group setting, you may also consider a gift that every can share and does not favor only one attendant, such as a food basket. Personal Trainer Suggested Tip: Cost of One Session If you have worked with a personal trainer for at least six months, the tip can range from one session to one week of service. Teacher Suggested Tip: Gift/Gift Cards Check with your child’s school to see if they have a gift-giving policy. Experts say to skip monetary gifts, as it may look like you’re bribing the teacher for better treatment.

Instead, give a coffee or book shop gift card for around $20. You can also get together with other parents and give one for a larger amount. Accompany the gift with a handwritten note from your child.

ANDREOPOULOS LAW FIRM

Wouldn’t you want former State Prosecutor examining your case to expertly defend you?

John D. Andreopoulos is a former State Prosecutor from the Pinellas/Pasco State’s Attorney’s office. His experience as a Former Prosecutor enables him to better represent his clients.

John understands and is able to examine the intricacies of each individual case, be it Criminal Felony/Misdemeanor, DUI or Personal Injury. John will personally handle your case from the complimentary consultation to the investigative stages, completely through to a jury trial, if necessary.

In all of these types of cases, numerous factors come into play, which can, undoubtedly, play into the outcome. For example, in a criminal case immediate communication with the Prosecutor is key. The Prosecutor makes the decision to ultimately file lesser charges or, perhaps, none at all. However, keep in mind that time is of the essence!

There are diversion programs, plea agreements and motions to be made, that will often postpone prosecution and allow the client the opportunity to serve their community, or work within acceptable programs, potentially resulting in dismissals, or more lenient sentences.

From Driver’s license suspension to the potential for Jail, a DUI conviction can have drastic effects on a person’s liberties.

If charged with a DUI it is important to have an experienced attorney at your side. John Andreopoulos is a Former Traffic Court Prosecutor and Former DUI Manslaughter Prosecutor. He has prosecuted and defended thousands of DUI cases. Through his experience, John Andreopoulos is able to obtain the best possible outcome for his clients.

Personal Injury cases are sought among attorneys all over Tampa Bay, far and wide. However, from a former Prosecutor’s standpoint, John Andreopoulos proudly states, “At the Andreopoulos Law Firm, we have the experience and knowledge necessary to handle your personal injury case. We aggressively pursue all legal remedies on your behalf. We are compassionate about your needs and regularly communicate with you about the status of your case. Additionally, we always advise you of the best options for your particular situation. HEALTHY PERSONAL FINANCE RESOLUTIONS FOR THE NEW YEARBy: Todd Unbehagen, MAFM, EA, ATA, ATPPresident of Unbehagen Advisors

The New Year is the time when many individuals start making resolutions to live a healthier lifestyle. And while resolving to eat better and exercise more is a good thing, you should be sure to make resolutions that pertain to the overall health of your personal finances as well.

DEVELOP A BUDGET AND STICK WITH ITA good way to start the year on the right track financially is to make sure that you have a budgeting system in place. Start by identifying your income and expenses. Next, add them up and compare the two totals to make sure you are spending less than you earn. If you find that your expenses outweigh your income, you'll need to make some adjustments to your budget plan (e.g., reduce discretionary spending).

Once you have a budget, it's important to stick with it. And while straying from your budget from time to time is to be expected, there are some ways to help make working within your budget a bit easier:

•Makebudgetingapartofyourdailyroutine

•Besuretobuildoccasionalrewardsintoyourbudget

•Evaluateyourbudgetregularlyandmakechangesif necessary

•Usebudgetingsoftware/smartphoneapplications

SET FINANCIAL GOALS OR REPRIORITIZE CURRENT ONESThe New Year is also a good time to set new financial goals and reprioritize your current ones. Take a look back at the financial goals you set for yourself last year--both short- and long-term.

Perhaps you wanted to increase your cash reserve or save money for a down payment on a home. Maybe you wanted to invest more money towards your retirement. Did you accomplish any of your goals? If so, do you have any new goals that you would now like to achieve?

Finally, have your personal or financial circumstances changed during the past year (e.g., marriage, a child, job promotion)? If so, would any of these changes warrant a reprioritization of some of your goals?

MAKE SURE YOUR INVESTMENT PORTFOLIO IS STILL ON TARGETYou'll also want to be sure to review your investment portfolio to ensure that it is still on target to help you achieve your financial goals for the upcoming year. To determine whether your investments are suitable for reaching your financial goals, you'll want to ask yourself the following questions:

•DoIstillhavethesametimehorizonforinvestingas I did last year?

•Hasmytoleranceforriskchanged?

•DoIhaveanincreasedneedforliquidity?

•Doesanyinvestmentnowrepresenttoolarge(ortoo small) a part of my portfolio?

MAKE IT A PRIORITY TO REDUCE DEBTAny healthy financial plan is one that makes reducing debt a priority. Whether it is debt from student loans, a mortgage, or credit cards, it is important to have a plan in place to pay down your debt load as quickly as possible. The following are some tips to help you manage your debt:

•Keeptrackofallofyourcreditcardbalancesandbe aware of interest rates and hidden fees

•Developaplantomanageyourpaymentssothatyou avoid late fees

REVIEW/TAKE STEPS TO IMPROVE YOUR CREDIT HISTORYHaving good credit is an important part of any sound financial plan, and the New Year is as good a time as any to check on your credit history. Your credit report contains information about your past and present credit transactions and is used by potential lenders to evaluate your creditworthiness. A positive credit history is important since it allows you to obtain credit when you need it and at a lower interest rate. Good credit is even sometimes viewed by employers as a prerequisite for employment.

Review your credit report and check it for any inaccuracies. You'll also want to find out whether or not you need to take steps to improve your credit history. To establish a good track record with creditors, make sure that you

always make your monthly bill payments on time. In addition, you should try to avoid having too many credit inquiries on your report (these are made every time you apply for a new credit card). You're entitled to a free copy of your credit report once a year from each of the three major credit reporting agencies. You can go to www.annualcreditreport.com for more information.

Trinity Business Association (TBA) is unlike any other networking group in the area. Founded in 2003, TBA has always operated on the premise it would

not be a “leads” group; but a place where acquaintances become friends - who build business relationships - which in turn create bigger, stronger businesses that can give back to the community in return. TBA wanted to introduce something a little different, and different is what it is!

Ask any member of TBA why they love coming to the meetings and they will tell your first and foremost, it’s the friendships. As long time member Gil McWilliams of McWilliams & Son Heating & Air Conditioning so aptly put it, “I go to lots of networking groups but TBA is my favorite. It’s family. There is no other networking group like TBA.”

But beyond the friendships, TBA is also committed to supporting businesses and professionals in the Trinity area. TBA members work together to expand and promote business opportunities and support the Trinity community.

AsTBAmovesintoits10thyear, itstill followsitsoriginalthreeguidingprinciples:

• Build a network of proven professionals of diverse age, race, gender, education and experience, which will promote new opportunities for members’ businesses to prosper.

• Provide a unified and powerful voice that will enable TBA to have an active role in shaping the business environment in our community.

• Take responsibility for making our community a better place to live and work by involving ourselves in different charitable functions.

TBA takes its commitment to supporting charitable causes very seriously. TBA has put into place a variety of

programs, which allows everyone to give back. For over 7 years, TBA has supported the RAP (Runaway Alternatives Project) House through donations, collections of needed items, Cook for Kids, sponsorship of RAP River Run and after every meeting; leftover food is taken to the RAP House. For the past 4 years TBA has given scholarships to graduating seniors of J.W. Mitchell and Sunlake High Schools. In addition, during 2012 TBA supported PACE Center for Girls, Fostering Help Florida and Lighthouse for the Visually Impaired and Blind.

TBA encourages businesses located and doing business in the Trinity area to come to one of its meeting. TBA meets on the first and third Tuesday of every month from 5:30pm – 7:00pm at Fox Hollow Country Club. The meetings are lively, professional, informative and fun-filled.

Each TBA member has similar goals of growing their business while creating great memories with fun friends at the same time. Each member takes pride in the group and the referrals sent to each other. TBA members spoil each other with special attention and services. It’s comforting to know that when you send a friend or client to do business with a fellow TBA member that they will be completely taken care of. TBA members love to make each other look good!

If you would like to market your business to the fullest in the Trinity area then TBA is the place to be. With Open Houses, Business Expos, Group Cruises, Off-site Socials, 5K’s, and much more; you are sure to get the exposure you’re looking for with the heartfelt camaraderie that you deserve. 1) With a 20% down payment, a 15-year fixed-rate loan for $100,000 with a rate of 4.50%(4.669% APR) would be repaid in 180 payments (principal and interest) of $765 each.2) With a 20% down payment, a 3/3 adjustable rate mortgage for $100,000 with an introductory rate of 4.00% would be repaid for the first 36 months in payments (principal and interest) of $478 each. (APR after the 36 month introductory period will be variable and may be subject to increase). Variable APRs shown are the best available for the initial fixed rate period of 3 or 5 years only. After the initial fixed-rate period, your variable APR will be based on the movement of the Treasury Security Index for a comparable maturity as the ARM program selected plus a margin determined by your credit qualification. Your qualifying margin over the index is determined at the time you lock-in your final rate. The variable rate and APR may adjust up or down with a CAP limitation not to exceed 2% for any one change. The maximum increase or decrease in percentage points for the term of the loan is 6%. However, the rate on your loan will never decrease lower than the margin. A change cannot occur more than once every 36 months for the 3/3 ARM and once every 60 months for the 5/5 ARM. An increase in rate would represent an increase of your monthly payments. Property insurance is required.

RICHARD SCHERCH TECH TALK

Is your SEO program keeping up with Google’s Changes? The strategy in search engine optimization (SEO) has changed drastically due to recent (Penguin and Panda) updates that Google made to their search engine algorithms. The most significant of these changes took place in April of 2012. The changes were focused on stopping sites that were deliberately manipulating the organic search engine results pages (SERPs) from ranking well, and it is expected that Google will continue to make future algorithm changes designed to punish those who over-optimize. Today, the best methods are concentrating on the quality of your site in terms of visitor interactions, content value and other on-site elements and not over-using complex SEO practices specifically intended to increase your Google rankings. Another criterion that is expected to be significant in future ranking algorithm updates is the level of visitor visits occurring on a site. Since Google promotes the sites that its users will find valuable, the assumption could be made that sites which demonstrate high visitor engagement will be rewarded in future updates.

While Google has made no secret of its wish to reward high-value content with top SERPs rankings, many webmasters still rely on keyword-optimized or copied-and-pasted content to fill their pages.Today, the main focus is to create unique content for your website by adding new pages or adding information to your own website’s blog. In addition to your own blog, posting unique information to offsite blogs is also an important strategy to create links back to your website, but the information must be of

value to the reader not just written for search engine optimization manipulation.

Social media also plays an important role in providing value to website viewers and shows Google that your website is of value to internet visitors. Facebook, Google +, LinkedIn and Twitter are among the major social media websites that can be used to showcase your business and website. In addition to the social media, there are many other websites that can also be used to promote and drive traffic to your website. YouTube, for example, can be used for posting videos about your business and instructional information related to your products or services. Using online business directories such as Yellow Pages, Merchant Circle, etc. to promote your business is also an important method to provide marketing for your local search results.

If your site wasn’t negatively affected by the Panda or Penguin updates, you shouldn’t assume that your website is safe. Google has been warning webmasters that it intends to weed out low value results from the search engine results. Therefore, having a company such as Websitedzyn assist you with your SEO is more important to your online presence than ever before.

Contact Websitedzyn today to find out about an SEO program tailored specifically for your website.

This delicious combination is what Chef Brian Robert Vroman considers his best creation.

A native of Clearwater, two-year resident of New Port Richey, and busy Father of a 10-month-old son, Chef Brian is the talented Executive Chef at Seven Springs Golf & Country Club, someplace he considers “home.”

“I got my first real cooking job in early 2006 at Island Way Grill and worked there until I went to Orlando to attend Le Cordon Bleu. I moved back home to Clearwater after school in 2008 to work at Innisbrook Resort, where I worked in two of their fine restaurants: Packard’s Steakhouse, and The Market Salamander Grill,” Chef Brian explains.

In 2010, he had the opportunity to work at the Doubletree Hotel as Sous Chef, and was responsible for banquets, executing parties for as many as 500 guests. He later became Sous Chef at Feathersound Country Club, where he was promoted to Executive Chef in August 2011. “Finally, I found my home at Seven Springs Golf & Country Club,” Chef Brian shares.

Along his culinary journey, two chefs have strongly impacted Chef Brian’s career. Chef Sean Squirres, who he worked with at Island Way Grill and Chef Sean Ragan, for whom he worked at both Innisbrook Resort and Doubletree Hotel.

“Chef Squirres taught me the majority of what I know about cook-ing and professionalism. He also taught me how to minimize waste, pay attention to details, and set my standards high, in order not to back-track. Chef Ragan taught me the art of banquet execution, emphasizing careful planning, organization, and timing of mass food production for over 500 people,” Chef Brian reveals. “Both of these accomplished chefs have influenced and trained me to be the successful, young chef I am today!”

Chef Brian is successful at provid-ing a memorable dining experi-ence for each member and guest at the beautiful Seven Springs Golf & Country Club! He pre-fers to prepare all of his dishes from scratch, developing amazing depths of flavor.

Braising is his favorite cooking process, especially when preparing pork and beef. In fact, his wedding and events menu includes a delicious braised Beef Short Ribs with mushroom demi-glace, along with bronzed Swordfish & grilled mango salsa, and seared Scallops with a smoky bacon corn sauce.

Chef Brian is careful to purchase from a variety of purveyors to insure he keeps food costs down without sacrificing quality. Locally, he purchases seasonal bests including strawberries, tomatoes and micro-greens, just to name a few. Having the highest quality food at exceptional value allows him to construct and deliver an excep-tional menu for members and guests at SSGCC.

The breakfast buffet, for example, includes all the favorites, but changes in flavor each week. Selections have featured sausage pancakes with maple bourbon butter, loaded French toast with whipped raspberry cream cheese and toasted walnuts, along with assorted home-made muffins and breakfast breads in flavors such as Oreo crumble, cinnamon sugar, cranberry-orange, chocolate almond, and raspberry.

Chef Brian’s most popular lunch preparations are the roasted beet and spinach salad, topped with scratch-made mozzarella, slow roasted tomatoes, shredded carrot, and basil vinaigrette, and the Proper Rueben Sandwich, with house-made corned beef on rye.

Dinner is something special when Chef Brian presents his Beef Lasagna Bolognese-style which takes 6-hours to prepare , filled with ricotta cheese, al a vodka sauce, and basil; Focaccia Bread Pizza made with scratch bread & mozzarella, roasted peppers, and marinara for dipping; or perhaps, his Mini Shrimp Quesadillas with grilled corn & black bean salsa and cheddar cheese.

Expect Chef Brian to touch every table with more than his food by the end of the every evening, to make sure the high standards he has set are, not only reached and maintained, but exceeded in a memorable fashion!

Members and guests are rewarded not only with Chef Brian’s delectable menus, but with impeccable service by knowledgeable servers, in a warm, comfortable atmosphere, within the gorgeous venue that is Seven Springs Golf & Country Club!

Congratulations to Amanda!Hudson Elementary School – 3rd Grade

My favorite teacher is Mrs. Bias.

The first reason is because she makes teaching and learning fun even in third grade. Wow! She has lots of things to do and she loves to give out prizes.

The second reason is that she acts like we are fourth graders! For our birthday she puts candy in a balloon, blows it up and lets us pop it any way we want to. She's the best teacher you can ever ask for. You would love Mrs, Bias. The final reason is Mrs. Bias is my favorite teacher is because she hands out treats. She only hands out treats when you earn them. When she sees you being the most participarting person in class. Mrs. Bias is my favorite teacher. Do you have a favorite teacher you can write about? - Amanda
