Croce. It is the burial place of some of the most
illustrious Italians, such as Michelangelo and
Galileo, thus it is known also as the Temple of the Italian Glories. The Basilica is the largest Franciscan church in the world. Its most notable features are its sixteen chapels, many of them decorated with frescoes by Giotto and his pupils, and its tombs and cenotaphs.

Archbishop of Lucca. There is a legend to explain why all the columns of the façade are different. According to the tale, when they were going to decorate it, the inhabitants of Lucca announced a contest for the best column. Every artist made a column, but then the inhabitants of Lucca
decided to take them all, without paying the artists and used all the columns.

10:00 am Visit Start off your day with a visit to the Palazzo Vecchio and its museum. The palace is a Romanesque, crenellated fortress-palace
and among the most impressive town halls of Tuscany. Originally called the Palazzo della Signoria, after the Signoria of Florence, the ruling
body of the Republic of Florence, it was also given several other names: Palazzo del Popolo, Palazzo dei Priori, and Palazzo Ducale, in
accordance with the varying use of the palace during its long history. Duration: approx. 2 hours

Continue your day with a visit to the Loggia dei Lanzi, a building on a corner of the Piazza della Signoria that consists of wide arches open to the street. The arches rest on clustered pilasters with Corinthian capitals. The wide arches appealed so much to the Florentines
that Michelangelo even proposed that they should be continued all around the Piazza della Signoria.

Santa Felicità. It is probably the oldest in the
city after San Lorenzo. In the 2nd century,
Syrian Greek merchants settled in the area south of the Arno and are thought to have brought Christianity to the region. The first church on the site was probably built in the late 4th or early 5th century and was dedicated to Saint Felicity of Rome.
