This week we welcome Bank of Queensland owner/ manager Melissa Green as our guest speaker. It will be interesting to hear her perspective on the local banking industry. Last week Club member Eddie spoke about Facebook and it was pleasing to welcome five Interactors from Mercy College along with Brendon Gunning. The Interactors will run the drinks stall at the Fair and also the face painting stall on the Friday evening. After months of planning, the annual Christmas Fair is on this Friday and Saturday at Col Story Rotary Park at the City Gates. It is our largest fund raising event of the year and has been going for 40 years. It is important club members show strong support and we will be hoping for fine weather which will contribute to a successful result. The District Conference and AGM at Agnes Waters was postponed due to flooding and a new date has not been finalised. There is a lot of work involved in organising such an event and the weather is always the great unknown. We should know soon on the new timetable. A Melbourne Cup evening is planned for November 6 and it is a partner’s night. This is also a good opportunity to ask friends and potential members along. It is always an enjoyable evening so let’s try to encourage new membership. The Council and the Mackay Women’s Centre barbecues were supplied by the Club and thank you to those members who attended. The Board has made a decision to investigate buying or building a storage container to store all of the Club’s inventory in the one location. Could all members record all inventory etc in their possession and email the information to Ian Ritchie. We will discuss this Wednesday. Please make this a priority so we can sort this out once and for all. November is Rotary Foundation month and Rotary Foundation Committee Chair Nick Harry will be our guest speaker next week. Wednesday we raised some funds by cooking a barbecue for the Mac-kay Regional Council Plant and maintenance division to celebrate 2000 hourswithout a lost timeaccident.

Cent Sale PrizesWest Rotary Christmas Fair

1. Each club member is asked to contribute 2 prizes to the value of $15-00 a prize or cash towards the success of the Cent Sale.

2. Cash is used to purchase suitable prizes for the Cent Sale.

3. Prizes can be brought to the Wednesday meetings and delivered to either Bruce

Howlett or Brian Dean. 4. Alternately prizes can be delivered to the

home of Eric and Sina Barry 42 Peel Street, Mackay.

5. If members choose to deliver prizes directly to the fair could you please advise Kerry Howlett or Elizabeth Dean .

CHRISTMAS FAIR INFORMATIONCol Story Rotary Park

Friday to Saturday, October 27-28, 2017

• Four members are required to load stall frames on Thursday afternoon, 5pm at Ian Ritchie’s shed.• Fair set-up is 6am Friday morning – a good attendance is required.• Arrive by 5.15 to 5.30pm each night for a 6pm start. Each stall organiser will inform his team of what

is required. 190 chairs to be set-up before start each night. The bands usually require assistance with unloading equipment and set-up each night from 5pm.

• Each stall organiser is responsible for organising and operating that stall. After the Friday night do a stocktake and get the order correct for the final night. Check money bags are in working order in advance.

• A money float will be given to each stall on the night.• On Saturday evening all stalls and lighting are dismantled and loaded on to trucks etc.• On Sunday morning the Park is tidied up and left in a clean state.• On Sunday morning four members required to unload stalls at Ian Ritchie’s shed.• A clean up is completed at the close of each night. Please bring rakes each night. • We are going to address the “complaint” about it not having the “Christmas feeling”. Please dress

with Christmas attire and dress the stall with Christmas decorations. Some christmas decorations are being purchased and will be placed on stalls.

• We will have security at the money tent this year.• Please wear Rotary shirts with the Christmas touch.• Please park away from the site to allow patrons to get the close parks.• The Pioneer Valley Rotary Club will set-up and operate the merry go round but may need assistance

with setting up.
