Celebrating Good TimesGHS students had a loud corner in their gymnasium this past Saturday to show strong support of their Scotty volleyball players. Upon the conclusion of the match with an impressive victory over Wolf Point, they all celebrated together to cap off a perfect Scotty Homecoming weekend. Glasgow continued to roll last night in Glendive, beating the Eastern A Red Devils in a rubber match. After losing the first pair 14-25, 23-25, the Scotties reeled off three straight, 25-22, 25-20 and 15-4, to avenge an early-season loss to the Red Devils. The Scotties now have three more road games

in front of them in Poplar this Friday, Harlem next Tuesday, and Sidney on October 20th before wrapping up the regular season at home with the Malta MEttes on Thursday, October 22nd. The good news is that this wont be the last time we see our Scotties at home as they host both the District 2B Tournament October 30th-31st and, still undefeated in the 2B conference standings, should have no problem advancing to the Northern B Divisional Tournament, also to be held in Glasgow November 5th-7th. Keep on rolling, Scotties!

The Glasgow Area Chamber of Commerce & Agriculture is kicking off the 2015 holiday season with its Annual COMMUNITY Cash program. COMMUNITY Cash Script (formally called Christmas Cash) will be available beginning Tuesday, October 13th, 2015, at First Community Bank in Glasgow/Hinsdale, Valley Bank, and Independence Bank. The purpose of the Community Cash program is to encourage people in our area to Shop Locally. Glasgow has a very good variety of quality products, services, and retail stores to choose from for your shopping needs. The Chamber is once again trying a kick-off . As an incentive, the Chamber will pay the $10 processing fee for all loans written on October 13th, 2015. You are encouraged to stop by one of the participating banks now to pick up your application. These are no-interest loans and there is a 10-month repayment period starting in January 2016. These loans can be used for lots of merchandise and services in our area and its not just for your Christmas shopping. Individual shoppers may borrow up to $1,000.00 and married shoppers up to $2,000.00 on approved credit. The Community Cash can be used to purchase a variety of goods from toys, tires, gas, appliances, home furnishings or improvements, tools, groceries, clothing gift certificates or meals at the participating Merchants. You must be a Chamber member to accept the cash and participate in this program. You do not, however, need to be a Chamber member to borrow the Community Cash. The last day to purchase the cash is December 30th, 2015, the last day to use it is December 31st, 2015. A list of all of the participating merchants and promotions is available now at the Chamber office, on the Chamber website, at participating banks and stores. In 2014, 62 business members participated in the program, 163 loans were issued for a total of $143,785.00 dollars Spent Locally! The Chamber encourages residents to buy locally and use the Christmas program.

Not a good Monday for Kentucky pet store owner It was lunch time for Captive Born Reptiles 20-foot python, and pet store owner Terry Wilkins had just stepped into the animals enclosure to feed it. But it quickly became apparent that the snake wanted something more. Before anyone knew what was happening, the animal bit Wilkins and began coiling itself around his head, neck and torso a pythons chosen method of killing its prey. Please, the snake is wrapped around his neck maam, came a frantic 9-1-1 call from a woman inside the northern Kentucky store. The call was published by CNN Tuesday. Hes got blood all over him. Oh my god, please. Please. Police arrived at the Kentucky store within minutes and pried the snake off of Wilkins, according to the Associated Press. One officer grabbed the snake by the head and worked to pull it from Wilkinss body. Others pulled the man by the legs to free him from the pythons tight grip. It was only by the grace of God that one of the officers knew how to deal with snakes, police chief Tom Collins said. It was a horrific event. Wilkins is fine now, according to his daughter. A worker at Captive Born Reptiles Columbus, Ohio, location told the newspaper that Wilkinss bite was minor and the python is still alive in its cage at the store. Pythons, like boas, kill by constriction, slowly squeezing their prey until they asphyxiate. Some researchers have also found that constrictors can kill by cutting off blood flow. According to data from the Centers for Disease Controls Wonder database, 78 Americans have died from being bitten or crushed by reptiles other than alligators and crocodiles. (For those who are interested, alligators and crocs killed 9 people.) By contrast, 450 died from dog bites.

(Sorry, no stats available for last nights match with the Red Devils although Rikki no doubt had a bunch of assists in five games.)
