1. Overview

• ISO/IEC JTC1 SC25 WG3:• Interconnection of information technology equipment,• Information & Communication Technology (ICT) Cabling Systems for Buildings, • Specified in ISO/IEC 11801 series standards and related documents.

• Report covering 1/1/2013 to 6/30/2013• SC25 WG3 develops cabling systems standards for: • enterprise, industrial and residential environments, • Local Area Networks (LAN), Intelligent Building networks, and Data Centers.

2. Primary objective

• ISO/IEC 11801 3rd edition completed its preparatory stage to go forward in the committee stage.• Series of 5 standards• The series revision includes the original two part 11801 2nd edition• Generic cabling for all customer premises• Commercial buildings cabling systems - for the Enterprise.

• The new 11801-X series includes three additional related standards,• Industrial,• Residential,• Datacenter cabling.

• ISO/IEC TR17979-X-X series, specifications for Twinax cable assemblies• Preparatory stage • Transmission characteristics of cable assemblies• Support new IEEE 802.3 Ethernet direct-connection interface standards• Support interconnection cable specifications within SC25 WG4 standards, e.g. SATA.
