RC(Residential Complex)
Residential Complex is
- a domain space that has two collocated domain areas of complex community public and multiple private homes.
- In the public area, there are both type of devices; for complex community public and private personal.
- In the private homes area, there are only private energy devices.

WD 15067-3-x
covers a system to manage energy usage in the residential complex area.
specifies physical and logical interfaces for interconnection of systems (e.g., server, gateway and device) in the sub-domains: private homes, complex public area and service provider.
defines following interfaces- for intra-HAN area (residential home)
- for private home to home
- for a private home to residential complex public area
- for intra-NAN area (residential complex public area)
- for residential complex public area to external service provider
- for a private home to external service provider
- for any exterior user to a private home

In HAN domain area
HAN devices are used for private home and are owned by the home user.
Example of HAN devices
- Energy consuming devices (appliances in ISO/IEC 15067-3)
- Energy generating devices (DER in ISO/IEC 15067-3)
- Energy information device
- Energy charging and discharging devices (energy storage and electric vehicle)
- Energy management devices (Energy management agent in ISO/IEC 15067-3)
- Energy metering devices (smart meter and smart plug)

In NAN domain area
Example of NAN devices
- Energy consuming devices for the common use by the complex community for RC
- Energy consuming devices for private personal use
- Energy information devices to manage total energy usage in the RC domain
- Energy generating devices for the complex common use, which is not belong to any private home user
- Energy charging and discharging devices (energy storage and electric vehicle), some of them can be for the complex community and the others can be for a private home user
- Energy management devices (energy management server to manage the energy usage totally in the RC domain)
- Energy metering devices (smart meter owned by a utility or a service provider)

4. Gap analysis from other existing standards4. Gap analysis from other existing standards
Difference from BACnet
BACS – Building Automation and Control System
Typical standard:
- ISO 16484-2, 3, 4
In this standard, BACS server monitors, controls and manages all components and devices in the BACS system.
BACS is applicable to building facilities and etc.
RC-EMS is applicable to energy management system in residential complex with multiple private homes and complex public area.
HEMS for residential private home works independently with collaborative works from other systems, complex EMS, other HEMS.
