    The growing worldwide focus on about global warming

    and the environment, has become an important concern

    to those seeking an alternative lifestyle or second home,

    as they look for tropical paradises that fulll not only

    their retirement or vacation dreams, but also preserve theplanet we inhabit.

    Isla Viveros is an active partner in a newly formed

    body with environmental concerns as its principal

    platform. The Sustainable Tourism Association of Las Perlas

    (CAMARA) involves representatives of the main development

    projects in the Archipelago with the Las Perlas Group,

    playing a prominent role by participation, and by example

    with its own commitment to environmental sustainability.

    CAMARAS mission is To follow the highest ethical

    standards in promotion of sustainable tourism

    development demonstrating a strong sense of socialresponsibility and respect for the environment.

    The Association, with Viveros CEO Maxime Navarre as a

    regular contributor to the discussions, meets weekly to

    plan its program

    CAMARA uses as its benchmarks the Grenadines, the

    British Virgin Islands where the worlds most green

    project, Sir Richard Bransons Mosquito Island, is

    unfolding), and the Galapagos Islands.

    de tica al promover el desarrollo del turismo sostenible y

    demostrar un profundo sentido de responsabilidad social y

    respeto por el medio ambiente.

    La asociacin se rene una vez por semana para denir su

    programa. Maxime Navarre, director ejecutivo de Viveros,

    Already earlier plans for a large international airport on

    Isla Del Rey have been shelved, and visitor targets have

    been drastically reduced in the interests of preserving the

    environment.

    An earlier study called for the development an airport to

    service a targeted 350,000 tourists.. CAMARA has set aheavily reduced target of 125,000 tourists and visitors to

    the Archipelago.

    Viveros, with the nest beach in the archipelago has

    remained free from the ecologically debilitating practice

    of stealing beach sand for construction, and its security

    system ensures that it will remain free from such

    piratical raids, but its management supports a CAMARA a

    campaign to deliver subsidized sand to islands that have

    been robbed.

    A greater understanding of the unique global importance of

    the Archipelago has been gathered in recent years through

    vital scientic research carried out by the Smithsonian

    Tropical Research Institute and the UK governments

    Darwin Initiative. The research has centered on the

    pre-Columbian archaeological heritage of the islands and

    their environmentally fragile marine biodiversity.

    The Association has opened a consultative channel of

    communication with the Smithsonian Institute through

    renowned scientist Dr. Hector Guzman.

    Says Dr Guzman: The Las Perlas Archipelago is of global

    importance in terms of its environmental biodiversity. I

    am delighted to be involved in this unique and important

    Association and I feel that this sort of initiative will be in-

    credibly benecial for the future of Las Perlas in terms of

    marrying protection of the environment; conservation of

    its delicate ecosystems; integration of local community

    interests with economic regeneration in this fragile

    environment.

    A second initiative is the establishment of a permanent

    Emergency Room for the islands located in San Miguel,

    Isla del Rey adjacent to Isla Viveros. The newly equipped

    facility is being funded by members of CAMARA. Further

    assistance has been promised by one of the new residents

    of Isla Viveros, a U.S. dentist, whose wife recently visited

    the health center in San Miguel. He and some colleagues

    are planning to provide much needed equipment to thedental clinic and, to meet with Panamas Ministry of Health

    with an offer to provide pro bono additional dental service

    to the community that supplies Isla Viveros with a large

    part of its labor force.

    One of the goals of the CAMARA is to create

    Archipelago-wide collaboration to reduce costs for logistics

    and transport and to preserve resources and minimize

    damage to the environment by reducing waste and unnec-

    essary fuel-use.

    estudios cientcos realizados por el Instituto de Estudios

    Tropicales Smithsonian y el gobierno de Gran Bretaa con la

    Hace pocos aos se hizo un estudio que propona

    prctica de extraccin de arena para la construccin. Su

    The Association is also playing a role in building a

    social infrastructure in the Las Perlas. George Novey Jr.

    President of CAMARA and Director of ARAP, the Marine

    Resources Authority said: One of the major issues we face as

    developers of these beautiful and unique islands is the lack

    of Social infrastructure throughout the Archipelago. The

    challenge is to be able to facilitate a high level of trainingfor the local population.

    CAMARA has started a social infrastructure program by

    joint venturing with local NGO, Fundacion Las Perlas. The

    initiative foresees a ve-year program including beach

    certication, community housing, entrepreneurship and

    micro-loan system, installation of a garbage handling and

    recycling system, training for local communities, compost-

    ing, landscaping and smallholding and culture and folkloric

    heritage and English language programs.

    Training and employment in local communities is critical to

    the Sustainable Tourism Goals of CAMARA. Says Novey.

    Already around 10 percent of the archipelagos biggest

    community, San Miguel, on Isla del Rey, is employed on

    Isla Viveros. One of this years initiatives in Las Perlas will

    be the introduction by Cuna de Vida, Isla del Rey, of an

    Explorer Mini Cruise Ship; a 40-cabin luxury oating ho-

    tel which will run 5-day cruises starting in the Canal and

    touring the 200 islands of the Las Perlas. In addition, a

    5-star ferry service from Panama City to Las Perlas is inthe works

    CAMARA and the management of Isla Viveros are actively

    working to integrate the Archipelagos 3,000 people and

    six main communities through a Public Private Partnership

    between any organizations with interests in the Las

    Perlas.

    basura y el uso innecesario de combustible. As mismo

    la asociacin juega un papel importante en la creacin de

    infraestructura social en Las Perlas.

    director de la Autoridad de Recursos Acuticos de

    Panam, dice que: uno de los retos que enfrentamos como

    desarrolladores de estas bellas islas es la falta de

    infraestructuras sociales; el desafo es dar a la comunidad

    local un alto nivel de entrenamiento

    CAMARA ha empezado un programa social con la

    colaboracin de la organizacin sin nes de lucro,

    Fundacin Las Perlas; esta iniciativa es un

    programa de cinco aos que incluye: certicacin de playas,

    Diez por ciento de la poblacin de San Miguel, Isla del Rey,

    esta empleada en Isla Viveros. Este ao, Cuna de Vida

    tiene planeado la introduccin de un mini crucero: un hote

    de lujo otante que ofrecer cruceros de 5 das por las 200

    islas del archipilago partiendo desde el Canal. Adems

    un ferry de 5 estrellas entre Panam y Las Perlas esta

    siendo desarrollada actualmente.

    CAMARA y la administracin isla Viveros estn trabajando

    activamente para integrar los 3,000 habitantes de las seis

    Panama, already feted by many as a tropical paradise,has been seen by many to be to be an economic brightlight in a world staggering under the weight of the biggestturndown since the great depres-sion. While its growth pattern hasbeen reduced compared to the boom

    years of 2007-8 when the economyhad a growth pattern close to doublegures, its GDP has continued to

    show increases.With work now underway on the

    building of the new locks for theCanal expansion, and theelection of a business orientedgovernment, led by supermarketmagnate Ricardo Martinelli, the

    future looks bright for the homeof one of the worlds greatestengineering feats.

    Major corporations including Caterpillar, Hewlett Packard,

    Procter and Gamble, and 3M have all recently opened

    new regional headquarters, boosting the belief of someeconomic analysts that Panama, with its strongbanking system, massive free trade zone, and ongoingconstruction programs, will morph into the capital notjust of the region, but of Latin America.

    International investor Simon Black describes Panamaas an open, bi-lingual vibrant country with a stablegovernment. Panamas English language daily, The

    Panama Star, recently quoted him as saying: Capital isgoing to look for its most conducive home and Panamarepresents a safe, cultural t, and for individuals andbusiness the transition to Panama is easy. Besides

    Panamanian immigration ofcials welcome visitors withopen arms.

    Allied with a forward looking government that will becreating thousands of new jobs for the construction of ametro transit railway, and the extension of its latest pearl,the 3.75 km parkland bordering the Bay of Panama, and

    the continued building of hotels, ofces and homes, thescene is the envy of many nations, who are at last startingto move out of the crisis that never arrived in Panama.

    All of which makes it a prime area for investment and

    retirement.

    Gol Course overview

    :: Vista general de la cancha de gol

    This is the tee shot from hole # 1. # 1 is a par 4 which

    is 439 yrds. long from the back tee and 420 from the

    memebers tee. The closer you challenge the bunkers on

    the right, the better angle and shorter distance you will

    have to the green.

    This is one of the premature views from #1 landing area

    as you can see from the earthworks which are currently

    going on. Truly spectacular!

    This shot was taken from # 1 teeing area viewing to

    the right over # 18 green area. You can see the ocean

    view now and it will only get better as construction

    progresses.

    Same pocation on # 1...(landing area) and just looking

    a little more to the right, admiring some of the more

    than 20 islands I have counted on a clear day from this

    location.

    This is out future hole # 3 looking from the green back

    towards the teeing area. The green is locasted just in

    front of the palm trees on the below right side. # 3 is

    a drivable par 4 which will challenge even the best of

    champions.

    This is the centerline of # 4. # 4 is a 573 yrd. (lengthy)

    par 5 which Mr. Nicklaus modifed/improved during his

    last visit, wanting the hole to work left to right (like the

    land) and not force the hole to wrok left to right.

    # 8 par 3 tee shot 167 yrd. Obviously earthworks have

    begun here

    as well.

    along entire right side of golf hole

    and clear more vegetation which will open the views even

    more and get us closer to the ocean.
