Part-1Is Your SEO Campaign Ready for 2015?Here isPART 1of our guide to help you improve both your online visibility and rankings! As we move into 2015 we consider the major changes that had a drastic change on the SEO and digital marketing landscape. We saw the introduction of yet a new Google algorithm, named Pigeon and saw more Panda and Penguin updates. In addition, we saw a wave of new ranking signals introduced and we saw for a third year running older SEO tactics literally fall by the wayside and lose their meaning. For an SEO Agency, our world is ever evolving but so is YOURS!This guide is all about keeping your wits about you ensure that both the health of website remains strong and minimalises the risk of penalties and of course help to improve your Google rankings. If you keep upto date with latest SEO and digital marketing landscapes you may well be thinking to yourself:1. Is Organic search rankings still worth my time and money?2. What SEO tactics will help my website achieve greater results in 2015?3. What elements are the most important to focus on?So, having watched and listened to key industry players and read many articles of how we expect 2015 to play out lets take a look at our guide of what all websites owners should be focusing on in the coming months.Today we focus on visibility and improving your visitors experienceSections1. Be visible2. Improve your visitors experience3. How to survive the Panda4. Learn to combat the Penguin5. Go Mobile! Ensure your site is mobile compatible6. General social buzz and earn signals ethically7. Go Local! Ensure your site is dominating Local SEOBE VISIBLEWe often talk about online visibility both when considering keyword rankings and also most importantly from a technical perspective. You need to be found by search engines to be ranked. It is so important that search engines are aware of you and are able to discover you and most importantly your sites content. If you site is structurally sound search engines will find you quickly and easily this is what this mean to website owners.1. Keep a sound logical site structureGOOD PRACTICE Your key business pages are attainable from your homepage Arrange your webpages into a logical tree structure Your URL structure reflects your website structure If using internal links on your website direct them to relevant pages To help navigation, use breadcrumbs Consider using a searchbox to help visitors find useful information from within your websiteBAD PRACTICE Key business pages cannot be accessed by internal links or navigation Too many pages stuffed into a navigational block you know, too large a sub-menu Trying to link each inside page from your homepageThis is an example of a simple yet logical site structure

An example of a clean structure looks something like thishttp://www.seoagency-manchester.co.uk/seo/localseohttp://www.seoagency-manchester.co.uk/technical//websiteaudit2. Utilise XML site maps and RSS feedsSearch engines like to access information quickly and efficiently. When a visitor types in a search term in most cases hundred of thousands or even millions of results are returned. The XML sitemap is used to identify and index content on your website. This is similar to a user of the London Underground map for the first time.RSS Feeds are universally used across the world by people looking to get new, fresh up-to-date news and content. These feeds serve another purpose as they keep search engines aware that you have added fresh content to your website.Google have recommended that both RSS feeds and XML sitemaps are used by website administrators to improve and optimise crawling. Sitemaps give Google information about all of your information on your website and RSS feeds provide updates this in turn helps Google reward you by keeping your fresh new content updated within its index.IMPROVE YOUR VISITORS EXPERIENCEWhat is little known to people who do not keep their finger firmly on the pulse of the industry is that a number of UX-related metrics have been introduced into Googles algortithms over the past few years. By ensuring your website is technically sound and efficient, you have the chance to help improve your rankings ifyour load speed, your site is mobile compatible and your HTTPs protocol are all in place.1. Site SpeedYour site speed is important and we have all seen situations where we try to open a website for it to take a number of seconds to launch. People still feel the need to cram theirwebpages with too much large content such as huge images, large volume multimedia files or of course too large a design element. Keeping webpage content in moderation will help improve your load speed which in turn helps the visitor access your content faster.2. Improve CTRs and User EngagementWhilst other search engines such as Bing and Yahoo have stated that they use behaviour and click thru rates (CTRs) as part of their ranking algorithms Google have still remained silent on this topic. It is very much worth getting the best levels of engagement and CTRs to your website in order to demonstrate website relevance in relation to the search terms that your visitors have used. These signals will help you improve rankings. So that was part 1 of our Guide to SEO in 2015. In part 2 we will take a look at Google algorithms Panda and Penguin keep an eye out for the next installment.
