LCCC’s Career Development Center often refers students who need professional attire for an upcoming job interview to either The Perfect Fit for Working Women or First Impressions for Men, both in Allentown, as part of The Yvette M. Palmer Memorial Career Closet program. Students receive a free suit or other dress attire if they are going for a job interview, and if hired, may be eligible for up to a week’s worth of business attire at no charge. This service is provided by the Allentown YMCA and YWCA. The Career Development Center accepts donations of professional clothing (both male and female in current styles), handbags, jewelry, shoes - especially black, and scrubs, on the first Thursday of each month. This program is operated in memory of the late Yvette M. Palmer, a successful businesswoman, promoter of education, Rotarian and member of the LCCC Foundation Board of Directors. Donations can be made to 1101 Hamilton Street (3rd floor) by appointment only by calling 610-871-5060. The program also accepts maternity clothing and coats.
